  • I might not speak for all 29 year old women, but I find this incredibly arousing and seducitve. Nigel is hot when he rocks that thing. (Robert Plant's not bad either)

  • thats now my new favorite instrument

  • zajebiste :) Polska :D

  • what song is he playing? or is it original?

  • @totoro81791 YES!

  • GIVE ME NOW!!!!!

  • where can I buy a hurdy gurdy below 1000 $ ?

  • @EdwinMarc

There's a site called Susato.com that I believe sells the cheapest ones but they're not very good. So I would just recommend saving up to buy a good one which can run you from $1,200-$4,000. It's not really an instrument to be indecisive with lol

  • I WANT ONE!!!

  • my brain just melted through my ears and nose from this being so awsome

  • Fuckin Shreds.... or whatever you call it on a hurdy gurdy.

Metal needs more of this. lol.

  • That rocks pretty hard!

  • and also using a double keyboard. btw, does anybody know the name of this laride, I've been looking for the score but cannot find it, even one similar. Thanks

  • @FranLago mail me at paul@workingjoe.co.uk and I'll send you a pdf

  • 2:12 i actually thought someone was backing up with a voice! then i realised it was the music he played from the hurdy gurdy that made it sound like that! beautiful!!

  • Thanks Robert!

  • How does he get one of the drone strings to get so low at 1:05? it looks like he flips it on or something...........

  • I think he acctauly simply adds it, from removing it from the "Rest peg" to an active position were it actaully makes content with the wheel.

  • Hurdy Gurdy Hero ?

  • it would cost so much id imagine

  • @HeadPhoneBoy112 Hurdy Hero for the MusicStation F#.

  • *dances* That was so awesome! No, it was beyond awesome! It's be-awesome!

I simply love the HG and I hope to be able to play like that someday. ^^

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Man, Nigel really knows how to ROCK!

  • i LOVE this performance, i wish people could RAWK out with their HG like this guy does.

  • che spettacolo!!

  • fantastic instrument!

  • Although I like Nigel a lot, he's NOT the best hurdy gurdy player in the world!

  • I need more names! Who's better? I wanna listen to some virtuosos.

  • Chris Funk!

  • Better and better, it is a question about different styles of playing=) Some of my favourites are Gregory Jolivet, Matthias Loibner and German Diaz =) Enjoy the listening!

  • that was so friggen amazing

  • that was tight!

i've never heard the hurdy gurdy rock out like that before

  • sounds and feels like watching 'Gladiator'...

  • Brzmienie tego instrumentu jest wręcz zaskakujące :)

  • He is the master of the Trompette!

  • this dude and Anna Smith from Eluveitie should have a crazy Hurdy Gurdy-off.

  • You mean Anna Murphy - Two different players - Anna has the best gurdy built in the world Wolfgang Weischelbaumer. Nigel's dad makes his.....

  • I do! Tool!

  • Arrogant septic tank! All the same!

Are you enjoying the attention, do you not get it often?

  • That was hopefully meant to be sarcasm.

  • omgogmgomggomgogm! that was awesome!!!! I WANT A HURDY GURDY!!!!

  • omg i want a hurdy gurdy =(

  • Comment removed

  • that was awesome

  • Just goes to prove, that with passion and skill, you can rock out on any instrument!

  • Where can I get this song?

  • don´t think it is recorded in this version... Nigel Plays the tune that´s named "Laride" on his first Cd "Nigel Eaton with Friends" ...

  • ELuvietie's is better

  • i agree

  • No way they are!!=) You can´t even compare them to eachother... This is Hurdy-gurdy when it rocks!!

  • NO WAY! I have just seen them in concert, and really, her playing is quite simple. I have seldom seen her play the trumpet, which is one of the most difficult things to do on the gurdy. Sorry Anna... But I DO like Eluveitie nontheless.

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT!!

BRAVO! Amazing concert then start Gallow's Pole!

  • could someone please tell me what kind of hurdy gurdy he's playing?

  • i think it's a modern one it has more strings than a french one or a hungarian one.

  • It's a double keyboard Chris Eaton Luteback based on a 19th Century Jenzat Pattern. Nice bit of kit. Pricey though!

  • could someone please post the name of the tune Nigel's playing?

  • This is (I think) "La Ride" or "Laride" - It's a French traditional "bouree a deux temps" anyway.

    Cheers,

    Jon

  • Laride

  • Fantastic hurdy-gurdy playing. -- But with no wheel guard (I wouldn't dare do this!) -- how does he avoid dripping sweat on his wheel?!?

  • A great hurdy gurdy player, indeed!

But is there one you can call ' the greatest in the world '?

    What about the others?

  • You are right ofcourse! But I think he is one of my favourites and one of them best players in the world that I know=) But there are still many other fantastic Hurdy-gurdyplayers! They are all different from eachother=)

  • wow he looks liek the host of NEVER MIND THE BUZZCOCKS

  • I have spent some amazing nights in some spectacular pubs playing along to that tune with fiddlers, accordionists, pipers, bodrhan players, squeeze box players, percussionists, guitarists and more. It sometimes went on for fifteen minutes, it was hypnotic. No-one who was playing had any awareness of anything but the tune - the rhythm. Holy cr*p, it still send shivers down my spine. I would spend my last minutes like that. Thnkyou for posting this.

  • As I said... He is the king..

  • Bravo Nigel ! T'es un Dieu !

  • What a great and versatile instrument. Loved this one.

  • This was absolutely amazing....

I couldn't imagine how tired you are after a show.

  • LOOOOVE Nigel...he tours with Loreena McKennitt

  • I wish they had performed "In The Light" using this guy. It would have been a perfect match.

  • yeah that would have been brilliant

  • This is just fantastic, the greatest solo I´ve ever heard, so groovy...

This is the best video youtube ever had!

  • @Hellmanvevlirare i wouldnt go that far mate :/ ....

  • @Hellmanvevlirare i agree
