Great memory of this song. 2002 concert in Montreal. There was a couple in front of me and after Ron sang this tune, the girl turned and hugged the guy so hard it startled him. It was really funny and sweet.

I wrote a fanmail to Ron a few years back to say how I appreciate his music and sorta half jokingly asked if he'd sign my Blue Boy album cause it has to be my all time favorite album,. He said sure and to send it to his Toronto address as it just so happened he was at home. A few weeks later my cover came back in the mail signed, postage paid everything.

What a great artist to love.

Now its definitely my favorite album

Paradoxically and ironically I listen to this song over and over. But I get about half way through (at most) and I am off in a dream world. Such is the power of a well written song. Such is the power of the combined years of not paying attention to here and now. I am often the character in this song complaining I have no valentine to bring me flowers, when the surrounding hills are full of their share for me. Mr Ron Sexsmith is a great songsmith and poet.
