  • country music in the uk????????? no such thing....just the home of great rock music..

  • The one dislike must have been the gurl that got kicked out the door!

  • Influenced by the blues, not country. What country music from 1972 or earlier sounds like this?

  • @lamberticus1 Whoever said that probably connected the slide guitar to country. Definitely blues-influenced.

  • Is there a better Rock 'n roll number than this??

  • Influenced massively by country.... that's saying something being from Liverpool ( In a good way ;-))

  • This is ROCK AND ROLL kids !!!

  • Congratulations to the Faces for making into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame. :-) Love this song.

  • Music isnt this good anymore!

  • Just Rod's raspy voice does it well

  • The Faces are one of my favourite bands of all time! Wonderful song

  • I do believe they call this "rock and roll."

  • rod stewart in his cool days

  • This is exactly what good time rock and roll sounded like the 20th century. Gone with the Wind now.

  • why arent any songs as awesome as this nowadays?

  • "yeah, i'll pay your cabfare home. you can even use my best cologne. just dont be here in the morning when i wake up" rock n' roll lyrics just dont get any better!!!

  • Absolutely great Rocker. It is a blast to listen to. Big Thumbs up!

  • Listen to the bass part on this recording. OMG... one of the best bass lines ever IMO. The Faces were a great bunch of musicians. Best backing band Rod ever had. The slide guitar and the electric piano are great. The most perfoect recording Rod ever made.

  • This song ROCKS!! One of my favs....WOW!

  • has to be the best intro to a song ever..

  • Thank GOD someone posted this whole song from the original vinyl!

This song, among others, made me pick up the guitar.

Tune your guitar to open G, and let er RIP!

This modern crap music can't even wipe Ronnie Woods ass.

  • @effinghamhick

    I was wrong with "Open G". It's "open E"....

    Sorry..Sorry everyone....my bad...

Funny how such a kickass riff can be so damn simple....the brilliance of guys like Ron, Angus, Billy G. and the like..

  • ROCK N ROLL.....

  • among the best, if not the best mood song i've heared

  • as much as i love Mick Taylor.,For all you stones fans who think Ronnie is a bum ,FUCKING LISTEN to this

  • 0 dislikes....all is right with the world

  • Kick ass from the first note. This is what every band tried to sound like in the 70's. In the 90's this is what most bands could only dream that they sounded like. The guitars sound like if they are played any harder they'll catch on fire. Way cool.

  • A Cock Rocker of the first magnitude, the superb guitar work being the icing on the cake.

  • "Stay With Me" is a man's man's song ...... obviously!

I was reminded of this gr8 tune recently, while watching an episode of "EastEnders" - the cockney soap on BBC TV. A drunken Jack Branning had a one-nite stand with a woman called Lorraine Cross - who had acquired a reputation as a drug-addict and a promiscuous, sluttish bed-hopper - and, in the morning following their nite of drunken (and probably rough) sex, he literally threw her out of his 'gaffe' on to the streets of Walford!

  • Excellent! "Stay With Me" by The Faces featuring Rod Stewart is a very fine single; a classic. it is also arguably one of the gr8 'screwing' records of the 1970's ...... along with a few other singles, including "Get It On" by Marc Bolan & T. Rex, "Afternoon Delight" by The Starland Vocal Band, "A Little Bit More" by Dr Hook and, of course, "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" by Mr Roderick Stewart himself ...... not forgetting "Tonight's The Night" (also by the great man, of course)!

  • "Stay With Me" by The Faces (with 'Stewarty' on lead vocals) was released in November of 1971, and was in effect the follow-up to the superlative "Maggie May", which had topped the charts for 5 weeks a lil earlier in the year. "Maggie M" was, of course, released as a SOLO single - unlike "Stay With Me" - but The Faces definitely made a contribution (as 'backing' musicians) to the earlier single.

"SWM" was a very macho and chauvinistic song ...... its lyrics were not to everyone's taste!

  • "......And in the morning, please don't say you love me, Coz i'll only kick you out of the door, Yes, i'll pay ur cab fare, you can even use my best cologne, Just don't be here in the morning when i wake up"

Those lyrics r somewhat unlikely 2 go down well with women who consider themselves feminists, or indeed with members of the 'politically correct' fraternity in general. Back in 1971, however, 'political correctness' as such had not yet sprung into existence.

    A man's man's song!

  • quite rightly a rock classic! Keep on rockin' from Germany!

  • Top shelf R & R.

  • Love the raw bass sound. Great playing, too :)

  • good audio

  • just don't be here in the morning when I wake up

  • Get yourself home!!!

  • This song only topped out at #17? What gives?

  • My eyes still light up when 'Stay With Me' comes on the radio. This is rock and roll at it's finest! Do Kentucky's pigs fly through Evansville, Indiana to this day?

  • haha! a great song about picking up a girl, then kicking her out before sunrise!

  • This is what Rock and Roll sounds like. I wish somebody made music like this today. Ron Wood is excellent on this song.

  • @abaguy1 o dont worry, im workin on it;)

  • @abaguy1 Agree!

Look up my song "Frybread" from the CD Single "Chiapaneca C/W Frybread."

But of course I'm so fringe and marginalized by the industry you'll never find me without looking. Nice meeting you in cyberspace!

  • ONE OF THEIR ABSOLUTE BEST!!!

  • YEAH, BABY!!!!

  • Rod Stewart once was cool, so was Rock n Roll.

  • @soultrader7380 rock n roll is still cool bud.

  • @soultrader7380 its still fuckin cool

  • This is rock and roll, baby.

  • I Love this song

  • Wow. Didn't know about the Faces & Rod Stewart. I'm surprised.

    This is truly great!!
