@tarastar777 Who gives a shit if you're a girl? Are you stating that girls have a lower knowledge of "technical stuff"? Really? Oh, and your grammar is bloody terrible.
If you look where the door is secured, there is a small switch. possibly blue in color. These are known for warping or being affected by the door warping from the heat. Also, the switch can become de-soldered over time due to heat. Sometimes, you can bypass the switch, which I don't recommend, but it is very repairable. sometimes if you just experiment with different amounts of tightness with the screw that holds the cover it can hold the switch in place. It sounds like you are close though!
@rostit420 if you dont select reply there is no alert or notification that lets others know you responded, good thing I keep coming back to check. Thanks though I'll look into it at this point I almost dont care I dont watch tv just wanted to connect my computer to it via HDMI
I see. If the cage is broken, you should purchase a new lamp assembly. It is very difficult to buy just the cage. Buying the lamp is preferred, so that you know both parts(bulb/cage) are in good shape. Once you put the lamp in, the access door should be installed to allow the TV to turn on. I bought a lamp from PurelandSupply that worked great in my mothers TV. They have good tech support too. I know the lamp also hits a switch, so if the lamp is damaged, it could be causing the problem.
@rostit420 i GOT IT TO WORK BUT PERIODICALLY it cuts off. Like now it is off while I had the tv on, yet it stayed on all day yesterday. I am starting to believe it is the door but I have no clue what to look for to initiate a repair.
PS I glued the cage back where the broken end was and the tv worked fine I dont believe the cage is the problem at all because it was secured well
Thank you so much !!!! This really helped me replace the bulb myself. I bought a bulb on Amazon for $100 and saved big time. Thanks again. You guys rock.
If it is shutting down after 10min, check your connections to the bulb. Also make sure you have adequate airflow. You may have a fan that is locking up or a bad ballast power supply. A common failure is the ballast as its only job is to power the arc inside the lamp. If the lamp is new, I would try another lamp first, and if it does the same with the new lamp, have the ballast replaced.
@rostit420 Where is the ballast located. I just replaced my bulb and I get 3 blinking red flashes, it seems the connections are tight so if it's the ballast I have no clue where it is in this set. I have the kdf 50e2000
@HannielTV Your problem is probably not ballast related. The tree lights mean that the lamp cover is not on. The TV will not turn on if the cover is not on right. There is a switch that monitors the cover. Sometimes heat causes the door to warp and then not activate the switch. Be sure the lamp covers are fully installed, then plug the TV back in. This should solve your problem. If you still suspect the ballast, check Google for a service manual for that TV. Good luck!
@rostit420 The lamp cover is a bit broken but still could the break be causing this issue? I was thinking of gluing the broken part but when I pull it out it seems fine even broken slightly.
@HannielTV I think so. The only way the light would blink three times is when the lamp cover is not fitting properly. There is no way to make it work unless the cover is installed correctly. The safety switch is to protect you from the high-voltage and high temperature of the lamp. The access door activates the switch. If its broken, then it may not be hitting the internal switch right.
@rostit420 the access door isn't broken the encasing is slightly broken, the black plastic that houses the bulb, I broke it trying to pull the bulb without noticing a screw on the bottom. It is still encased pretty good and fits well when I pull it out the encasing is on good as well.
That makes no difference. It also does not say DLP. All LCD/DLP/LCOS/SXRD use a form of backlight. The display technology is not set by the lamp. Some use Arc lamps, some of the newer units use LED.
The video is well done and informative, unlike your comment.
Just thought I would let you know that sony does not make a DLP. There projection tv's are called LCD projection, they do not have the mirrors like a DLP.
