@MrZibiba Hey Mr Zibiba, Its a great mixer for the price, but no, if you want something that is bullet proof and strong, simply go and pay 4 times the amount for another brand... Or you could simply look after this one and it will do you fine. :) But yeah, its a cheap mixer with LOTS of awesome features.
@andrecato I have my DDM4000 set up to play with vinyl control on traktor, and I can get sound out of one speaker, but not the other. Is this an issue with Traktor, or the mixer? I am using identical XLR cables. First time i have hooked it all the way up. (I have the turntables hooked up the Audio 6, and then the Audio 6 to the line 1 and 3 of the DDM4000. Then i have the two XLR cables going to different Eurolive 215XL speakers.)
@SeismicReptile The mixer will do you fine for that, what you will need though if you want to really be able to scratch well is the upgraded X1 cross-fader for this mixer which will be much better for scratching... Very economical way to do what you want with your CDJs...
@SpeakaPorn When in MIDI mode, you will ONLY control MIDI and vice versa, when in Audio, you will send no MIDI messages, so yeah, only one or the other will activate, so all good... Kill Switches will do whatever you assign via MIDI when in MIDI Mode, not act as Kill Switches, unless of course thats what you want!
@420helladank Sure you can. Its a MIDI controller, so you can map all of the functions in Traktor LE, Traktor Pro or Traktor Pro 2. What you need tables for would be to play either the DVS version (Traktor Scratch Pro) or to play your old records. Cheers, Oh, I am now on Twitter! Please follow - @andrecato :)
@andrecato thanks a lot man thanks for replying i love your reviews there very helpful im probably getting this within a couple weeks also wondering do you need anything extra to run it with traktor? or is it just like a midi to usb cord?
@andrecato one more thing, what is the difference between line and phono which do you use to connect the cdj's to it and which go to the speakers/monitors/subs
@420helladank Phono is for old school Turntables, which you won't use anymore, Line is for any digital instrument such as a CDJ, Drum Machine or anything with a LIne level (pretty much anything other than a turntable).... The Mixer inputs are where you plug in your instruments, and the outputs are where you plug in speakers and Sub! Woohoo! Party Time!
I'm thinking about getting this mixer but i've seen most the videos about it from years ago. If I was looking for a mixer no more than 350$ is this still the best mixer for that or would you recommend something different?
@XxXDevilRejectsXxX Mate, this is a complete can of worms.. There is sooooo much gear out there. So many options. What is decent in your eyes, what is Cheap, do you want to play CDs, Vinyl or Digitally?, If you have no answers to these questions, i suggest you check out gear from Numark, Gemini, Behringer. You need 2 decks and something to mix your tracks together, so have a look and ask some specific questions as its really too hard to guess who u are and what you want/need! andre@12am.com.au
@XxXDevilRejectsXxX I love NI, love the S4, love the X1, S2 and Maschine! If you want to keep up with what I am talking about with gear, follow me on Twitter! Username - @andrecato
@XxXDevilRejectsXxX u dont necessarily need turntable but a decent mixer and a sampler. You can scratch with a sampler, look up the Roland SP-555 or SP 404. u would need a budget of about $1000 for hardware and software
I have this connected to my 2 Numark DNHS5500 and I cannot get the PFL feature to work with Traktor or Virtual DJ. I searched everywhere and cannot find anything to fix this. Please help, I hate blind mixing and the only way i can hear the Cue is by moving the cross fader to the middle but that defeats the purpose because it plays it in the mix. Thanks
@FuMMoD Hey mate, just got a response from Behringer support on this one! It depends on how you are using the DDM4000. I assume if you are using it with Virtual DJ / Traktor then you may be using the DDM4000 in MIDI mode. If that’s the case then the PFL buttons also become MIDI switches, so they will have to be assigned to a corresponding CUE function in the software – in MIDI mode they won’t operate like a standard PFL button as they are now simply transmitting a MIDI note on value.
I have the DDM4000 connected in MIDI mode and everything mapped out but nothing. I read up that if the crossfader is all the way to one side then there will be no sound output for the pfl to even cue with. I'm trying to figure out how to keep a constant signal without it coming out via the master because the only way right now its to have the crossfader like pretty much in the middle to even be able to use the PFL feature which is useless.
Does this works by it slef or needs extra gear to play some trance music ? (more interested in Dark and FullOn) .. If it needs that extra gear, what would be a good one and not too expensive ??
Plus ... How long does it takes to play some well mastered trance in this ?
@twistgoth You would need turntables and a DDM40000 :) Leads should be connected to your TT or come with it at least! The DDM4000 has both line and phono input, so you can plug in a turntable, or any type of audio via the RCA connection....
@lcfc201094 Do you mean, is the Cross Fader attached permanently? No, you can replace the cross fader in the DDM4000, there is a new Infinium X1 fader available for it.
@wetmau5 There are a few different ways... As Mike has already replied, if you have an internal soundcard in your computer , you can connect audio in, via the 3.5 or whatever type of input you have for sound.. Which would you recommend? The DN-X300 or the DDM4000?
GREAT REVIEW MAN!! I tell ya my old school Gemini Executioner finally took a shit on me, Murphys law.. I'm practicing for the WMC spin off which is this Tuesday ..anyways I have been using a roland mc 307.. old school I know , but used it for my MIDI and sampler banks using M-Audios Torq-DJ. I recently invested in a pair of CDJ 1000s so now I have been looking for a 4 channel mixer... of course the Pioneer DJM is the dream but this looks like the bang for the buck.. amazon has it for 350!!!
first question: you can plug any turntable/cd-player to any mixer
second question: you can use it as a mididevice, in this case you won't be able to prelisten to the other channel, otherwise you defenetly need an audiodevice like audio2/4/8dj (6/10 are coming 1.4.2011) or (if you just want to try if this hobby fits to you) you can split a stereochannel or use the second channel of a multi-channel soundcart (5.1 soundcard for example) won't be as safe and good as the devices but works
Thanks for the review! Seems to have a LOT of stuff in it! Some engineer really went wild there! :D I got so many ideas watching the video .. it's like a delay with a maximizer in the loop in my head now xD
thanks so much for the review! so, i have an IDJ2, and are looking to upgrade maby in the foreseeable future, so with that being said, is there anyway to link the two together in anyway?
@nickunicorn Sure you can. You can use the V7's with any DJ mixer though, ANY... That is what the V7 was built for over the NS7. you can choose your own mixer! Cheers,
So I was thinking on buying the american audio vms4 because I wanted to use MP3's. The fact that this can be used as a MIDI controller means that I can use it the same way as the American Audio (plug n' play) but with digital effects directly from the console. The only thing missing would be the jog wheels?
Maybe it is better than previous Behringer efforts, maybe it is good value, but I still think it's a pile of shite, and wouldn't waste my money on anything from Behringer, especially their DJ gear.
Hey there andrecato, you are awesome! Thanks so much for making a tutorial on how to use the BERINGER DDM4000 and showing its features. It is highly recognized.
I was wondering is the sample sectio and the FX work when I'm using it as a midi controller for traktor?... since I don't really put a real audio signal through the mixer do I?..
Hi everyone-- this is a great demo and we want to thank the creators of it! Just one thing: the faders on this mixer are not optical. There is an optional crossfader (the Infinium X-1) that is optical.
i just got this mixer 3 days ago.... and it work fine with my denon hd2500. but now i wanna use it as a midi with my numark cue.. can anyone help me set it up.
@DJsais3s First you would have to get a MIDI interface then I don't think mapping it is difficult, I actually think it can be done with some kind of learn mode.
I've got a big party coming up. My brother and I are going to buy B-52 matrix 1000 v2 active PA system tomorrow. The PA has XLR inputs only. I figured get this mixer and run my laptop to one of the channel inputs (line). Is this setup all I'll need? Thanks for the advice. Oh and great review too!
this turntable is really good for home but not for club. I have one at home and i really happy, but in my studio have a djm800. Thats more diferent. But y recomend for use at home.
Note: Sorry for my english, I from spain and i learning now. House classic music power, good songs.
With the price in mind, and behringers earlier history of making cheapy gear, this seem to be a spot on mixer in the lower end segment, but with the distinction of thinking out of the box, this mixer sure offer more functions and setups than any other mixer, like A&H, Pioneer and Denon.
Sure DJM 800, DNX 1700 is quality i know, but for what price?
If the 800ed where constructed this way "Functionwise" i would feel much more comfortable, able to edit crossover, mic imputs and so forth.
Wow! This is one hell of a mixer....I'm very close to purchasing it but wanted to know if it will work with any software?Serato is what I'll be using. Also, are those speaker outputs I see in the back?????
@Monchi2006 This is only a mixer. A standard setup would require 2 audio sources such as turntables or CDJ's. You can get ambitious and have up to 4, hence the four channels.
Been using it for a year now, and I have a few problems. I have to say it's been a sweet ride so far, but after some time the buttons wear out REALLY quickly, and the Soundquality (output, EQs, etc) is only slightly above average. But, it's the perfect mixer if you just started mixing!
i want to know something........ i m going to buy cortex hdtt 5000, can i join these with this behringer ddm 4000? And can i connect this behringer ddm 4000 with my laptop to run with virtual dj software nad choose songs? Does it have bpm counter? Can i use only Cortex hdtt 5000s and behringer ddm 4000 as a full set? What's your opinion about my plan? If you don't mind , could you please help me to solve things up? Thanks alot..........
hi mate im using cortex decks with a ddm 4000. and used vdj before this. 1st thing buy a iomega 2.5 inch hard drive 250gb and load all your songs onto the drive. make sure the hdd u buy comes with a twin power usb single usb hdd wont work at all. you can load all your songs off your pc to it and use them with cortex decks. you wont need to use vdj anymore. also VDJ WILL NOT WORK WITH THE DDM4000. hope this helps as i went around the bend figuring out the hdtt5000
How does this one compare to the much more expensive DJM700 from Pioneer? And is the BPM meter acurate? Some effects rely on it and heard on several other mixer that it can be off. Thanks and keep up the good reviews!!
i hate to bring up the crusty analog vs digital debate (which i see amongst synth heads, of which i'm one), but someone spoke of this vs a numark (something, which is analog?). i'm not a dj, but am curious about these kind of mixers. used to have a cheap mackie and tapco, but no outboard mixer now. anyway...this (digital)..versus something analog? what say you? please comment..; )
you know a lot of the old school purists say analog is always better, and I wish I could agree, but in terms of sound quality, ease of mixing, whistles and bells, and just the variety of syncing toys, mixers, and software like this stuff, I mean, digital just offers a whole lot more.
say for instance, I can have traktor on a computer, a mixer like this, ableton on my friends computer, some timecodes somewhere, maybe a kaoss pad, an ableton controller, and everything just works flawlessly.
Hi Andre, great review. Im torn between this and the djm-400. I mix only use 2 channels so dont need 4, making the djm-400 a good choice, as the main thing im looking for is solid sound quality for recording and great effects. im prepared to spend the extra for the djm but is this a serious alternative effects wise?
i bought this a few months ago and the sound quality is awesome, the effects are wide ranging and fully (and very easily) adjustable by using the screen. i think although you may use two decks now but you will always have the option of another 2 and won't have to buy another mixer to cater to your needs. i was a bit cautious about the negativity around behringers quality but after using this and the djm800 and can say i much prefer my DDM4000!
I d like to buy the DDM 4000 mixer by BEHRINGER. i d like to control the traktor's 4 decks via midi. How many outputs the audio interface i will buy must have (for controling the decks and pre listen the tunes)????
Something like the Gigabyte HD which is all outputs (4 channels) or maybe even NI Audio 8 will do the job perfectly. Either one are both good for what you want to do.
i am just starting out and alreadi have 2 denon dn-s1200's and am looking for a mixer.. i am a beginner but at same time i hate to have poor quality products. which mixer would you guys recommend? i was looking at Behringer products because of the price? someone help? thanx
Really? Wow, now, that I don't know! Maybe they changed colours in a newer version, or maybe you can change the colours and I simply didn't know! Anyone got an answer to this one? I will email Behringer and ask for you mate...
The color of the led changes if you are in single mode the led is blue if your on multi mode the led changes to yellow/green. The same goes for the top leds. If your in phono mode the led is yellow/green if your in line mode the led is then blue. I hope this helps you out.
@Antofffka i can answer that :p the first generation of the ddm400 had blue and red and orange lights but the blue led lights were so bright and powerfull behringer got lots of complaints, it is really annoying... i have a first gen mixer and it really is way to shiny in your eyes... i just bought myself a pioneer again now cause in quality there really is a difference. but i still have the behringer as a backup mixer :)
i played with a djx700 and 750 but for some reason they just felt cheap...does this mixer have the cheap plasticy feel or no? this a big buy and a response would be awesome-thanx m8
I agree, as I mention in this video, the DDM4000 is a BIG step in quality from the DJX series. Better faders and feel and sound from the unit as well as features. For the price, its great.
hey andre!!!! i got this mixer about 1month ago and im running it as a midi controller thro traktor 3. is there any possible way to prelisten? or do i have to use it as a normal mixer
Ummm, how would you like to connect? There isn't any real reason to, other than the effects or sampling you could do via the DDM4000. The iDJ2 is a complete package, so all you need do is plug it into speakers, however, you could plug in the iDJ output to a channel input of the DDM4000 and then use effects and so on... Not much point doing that, better to buy an effects unit or sampler to go with your iDJ2, or buy a media player for your DDM4000. Hope that helps!
just started djing and i hav only go pioneer 100s and behinger djx750 and because the cdj100s dont hav bpm counters i hav to rely on the mixers bpm counter's, and they are'nt acurate at all n its fustrating, if i was to buy this mixer is the bpm counters acurate enough????. (also cos i just started i cant really sync beats just by sound)
Hi firstly can u tell me the name of the track from 5:10 onwards (the one that u sample) as i love that tune!!
Secondly I Brought this mixer a while ago and love it!!!! (and thats goin from a djm800!!) But its a hell of a lot to take in tho!
one prob tho want to no how to make the sampler at least 99% dead on as hear u have on yr vid with that track i like! is there a sample trim function or something tike the roll effect on the 800?
Looking to get this and the mashine mikro since this is traktor ready I should have no problem with the 2 right? They would work flawless together.

I am trying to create a setup with the Behringer ddm4000 with virtual dj/ traktor pro
Now my question is : What for turntables/cd-players can i combine with the ddm4000 ?
And do i need a soundcard like audiodj8 to combine them ?

first question: you can plug any turntable/cd-player to any mixer
second question: you can use it as a mididevice, in this case you won't be able to prelisten to the other channel, otherwise you defenetly need an audiodevice like audio2/4/8dj (6/10 are coming 1.4.2011) or (if you just want to try if this hobby fits to you) you can split a stereochannel or use the second channel of a multi-channel soundcart (5.1 soundcard for example) won't be as safe and good as the devices but works

Hi everyone-- this is a great demo and we want to thank the creators of it! Just one thing: the faders on this mixer are not optical. There is an optional crossfader (the Infinium X-1) that is optical.

lilmadmoodyman 1 year ago 2
With the price in mind, and behringers earlier history of making cheapy gear, this seem to be a spot on mixer in the lower end segment, but with the distinction of thinking out of the box, this mixer sure offer more functions and setups than any other mixer, like A&H, Pioneer and Denon.
Sure DJM 800, DNX 1700 is quality i know, but for what price?
If the 800ed where constructed this way "Functionwise" i would feel much more comfortable, able to edit crossover, mic imputs and so forth.

@Monchi2006 This is only a mixer. A standard setup would require 2 audio sources such as turntables or CDJ's. You can get ambitious and have up to 4, hence the four channels.

hi mate im using cortex decks with a ddm 4000. and used vdj before this. 1st thing buy a iomega 2.5 inch hard drive 250gb and load all your songs onto the drive. make sure the hdd u buy comes with a twin power usb single usb hdd wont work at all. you can load all your songs off your pc to it and use them with cortex decks. you wont need to use vdj anymore. also VDJ WILL NOT WORK WITH THE DDM4000. hope this helps as i went around the bend figuring out the hdtt5000

i hate to bring up the crusty analog vs digital debate (which i see amongst synth heads, of which i'm one), but someone spoke of this vs a numark (something, which is analog?). i'm not a dj, but am curious about these kind of mixers. used to have a cheap mackie and tapco, but no outboard mixer now. anyway...this (digital)..versus something analog? what say you? please comment..; )
pdautg 2 years ago
you know a lot of the old school purists say analog is always better, and I wish I could agree, but in terms of sound quality, ease of mixing, whistles and bells, and just the variety of syncing toys, mixers, and software like this stuff, I mean, digital just offers a whole lot more.
say for instance, I can have traktor on a computer, a mixer like this, ableton on my friends computer, some timecodes somewhere, maybe a kaoss pad, an ableton controller, and everything just works flawlessly.

Thanks, Baz
BazDJ2007 2 years ago
i bought this a few months ago and the sound quality is awesome, the effects are wide ranging and fully (and very easily) adjustable by using the screen. i think although you may use two decks now but you will always have the option of another 2 and won't have to buy another mixer to cater to your needs. i was a bit cautious about the negativity around behringers quality but after using this and the djm800 and can say i much prefer my DDM4000!

I d like to buy the DDM 4000 mixer by BEHRINGER. i d like to control the traktor's 4 decks via midi. How many outputs the audio interface i will buy must have (for controling the decks and pre listen the tunes)????
MrMindweb 2 years ago
4 outputs
Something like the Gigabyte HD which is all outputs (4 channels) or maybe even NI Audio 8 will do the job perfectly. Either one are both good for what you want to do.

Really? Wow, now, that I don't know! Maybe they changed colours in a newer version, or maybe you can change the colours and I simply didn't know! Anyone got an answer to this one? I will email Behringer and ask for you mate...
andrecato 2 years ago
it must be a new version that they quickly redid.
i'm quite proud that i got this one though, the lights are perfect, and it also shows that behringer was listening to what people had to say about it
scattrr 2 years ago
Yeah its a new version... they changed the lights they had too many complaints... but its a good thing the new ones are great.
Julienro 2 years ago
The color of the led changes if you are in single mode the led is blue if your on multi mode the led changes to yellow/green. The same goes for the top leds. If your in phono mode the led is yellow/green if your in line mode the led is then blue. I hope this helps you out.

@Antofffka i can answer that :p the first generation of the ddm400 had blue and red and orange lights but the blue led lights were so bright and powerfull behringer got lots of complaints, it is really annoying... i have a first gen mixer and it really is way to shiny in your eyes... i just bought myself a pioneer again now cause in quality there really is a difference. but i still have the behringer as a backup mixer :)

hello andre..
i have qustion.. can i connect the numar i dj2 with the Behringer DDM4000 ?
SpaNioLYaNi 2 years ago
Hi,
Ummm, how would you like to connect? There isn't any real reason to, other than the effects or sampling you could do via the DDM4000. The iDJ2 is a complete package, so all you need do is plug it into speakers, however, you could plug in the iDJ output to a channel input of the DDM4000 and then use effects and so on... Not much point doing that, better to buy an effects unit or sampler to go with your iDJ2, or buy a media player for your DDM4000. Hope that helps!
