  • Nice work - was looking for ideas for a vertical.

  • Good deal, if it works, it works.

How does it hold up to high winds?

  • @wb6vuy In high winds it makes some noise but holds well.

  • you better hope a storm does not tear that off the side of your house, it will make a mess out of the siding, you would be better off using some schedule 40 steel pipe, or one of those telescoping antenna poles,

    good luck & 73s

  • @baalzebubamerica Lost part of the tree in the yard in a storm and the mast held up! I wanted to do something more homebrew than strait pipe. I usepipe for a remote cabin and it seems to work though. The pipe would not fold over as well as this set-up with the weight and all. Thanks for the input, UA

  • what ?? no duct tape and tie wraps ?? Nice work here.

  • How does the Gp-15 perform on 6m ?

What adjustments are you referring to for 6m ?

Was looking to get a triband for 6m,2m and 70cm but want set and forget. Is this not the case with your comet ?

  • @DENMONKEY

I use the 6 meter only on FM. The Gp-15 does not have a wide range low SWR on 6 meters so you tune for you interest. The 2 and 70 cm come tuned and there is no need oy way to tune. One of the three ground planes is longer and you can change the lenght with a wrench. It also preforms better in the direction it points. I like the antenna and plan to buy another for my FT-8900.

  • @MrFarallon

    Thanks for the reply.

Considering the Diamond V2000 also. They seem to be very similar.

I've also heard they are a little directional on 6 following the radial.

Again, ty for the reply and the video. Cheers

  • Thanks!

  • Good idea and implementation.
