If this bailout passes, it will set a precedent that could turn into a global circle jerk as US banks sell to the British taxpayer, etc. The banks cannot be interested in the US taxpayer alone, they could gain access to the whole world's treasuries. That is a lot of capital and commissions.

Don't be stupid people. I don't like the idea of having to invest in fixing it, but it really does need a quick fix. If the bill does not pass, banks will shut down overnight because the credit markets they depend upon to give to businesses and us will just stop. And it will trickle down to the people overnight in a horrible way. We lose jobs; prices will go through the roof.... Get this passed!

Wait, don´t u realize that these are foreign investors who lent to Americans to buy their homes? Look at what happened to European banks: Europeans have much higher savings rates than Americans, so European banks did not have too many borrowers in Europe and they lent to Americans and now Americans are not paying them back. I think it´s reasonable that if the Treasury returns the money of some of the losses to American banks it should do the same with European banks who lent to Americans.

Its not like they informed us we were borrowing anything. I dont even have a debt save the small sum on my almost paid off mortage. Governments do things within the realm of politics that they dont always tell the citizens about, if I had full knowledge to make the choice I would have chosen to refrain from touching anything borrowed.
What I would ask is what exactly did each country give and for what? If someone works and pays cash for stuff where are they responsible for owing anything?

I certainly wasn't suggesting that the Bail Out was a good thing, I personally don't believe that it will do anything at all but postpone the inevitable. This was commentary not critisizm. I was just amazed at the speed at which this rolled down to my american friend. :( Personally I hope that that 7 billion is there when SHE needs it for unemployment help. To me it demonstrates almost extortionist tactics on the part of foriegn investors.

The Federal Reserve Bank is a BANK. It is NOT, as most believe, a part of our Constitutional government. It is a private bank, under contract, with private interests & private beneficiaries.
When private citizens gamble with their finances and lose, they either get their act together & rebuild or file for bankruptcy; but they don't get bailed out by their innocent neighbors.

If this bill passes, it will only remain a bailout of foreigners for a few days at most. The precedent would empower the UK and other governments to follow suit in spite of hostile public opinion. Votes may not even take place. Then it becomes a global bailout of bankers.

What is even worse than that is Paulson wanting reciprocal legislation from the UK and probably others; there has been pressure on foreign governments as British papers have noted in recent days. If this bailout passes, it will set a precedent that could turn into a global circle jerk as US banks sell to the British taxpayer, etc. The banks cannot be interested in the US taxpayer alone, they could gain access to the whole world's treasuries. That is a lot of capital and commissions.

I love the way you cut Mr. Kut Low & Company OFF Lmao! Now just in the media is now reporting that the European union is suppose to show the americans how its done. They plan to meet and come up with their own bailout of their banks. 300 billion dollars to bail out their banks. So now the media is reporting this using it as propaganda for us to pass ours. They will stop at nothing to rob the american people of everything they have.

I just wonder if this bill passes if foreign banks that hold our national debt may just start dumping T-bills. EEK! Imagine that chain reaction. That could destroy the dollar.
