Actually not hitting the rev limiter. Its the vtec engagement point limiter at around 5-6k.

this is bollocks sorry there is no such thing, it is the rev limiter at 8,200rpm that hes hitting. It doesnt limit u at all at 6krpm. Even when cold you can take it all the way to 8,200rpm, it just wont change the cam profiles in Vtec mode etc. Unless im mistaken when I drive my Civic Type R..

There is a limiter at 6k which is stopping to car from changing cam. This is the same limiter that is lowered to be used as launch control when k-pro'd. There is two limiters on a type-r. one that is active when stationary and one when moving at 8.6k. You shouldn't be taking the engine all the way to 8.6k from cold anyway!!

Ignoring the Kpro systems launch control, In Standard form, the type R has ONE actual true limiter. This is at 8,200rpm.  The 6K barrier which stops the engine Vtecing is only there when the engine is cold. If u are really ragging ur engine, there is no limiter to stop u taking the revs all the way up to 8,200rpm when the cars cold, you just dont get the additional power from the switching CAM. They are all electronically controlled anyway, no physical parts.

ok but i couldve swore my limiter is at 8.6k will check today, and the 6k limiter is only there when you are on standstill, which is exactly what this fella is hitting here. this is not the 8.2k/8.6k limiter. it has nothing to do with the engine being cold as it will do it anytime when on standstill in neutral. If it is K'prod then it probably will have a limiter at 8.6k as I think that is the default remap and also prob one at 6k. Mine will rev past 6k even at standstill, not that I would ever do it of course! I am yet to have Kpro installed (although getting it soon) and will understand more about it then! dont you know about vtec? It doesnt Vtec when its stationary. That sounds exactly like the engine bouncing off the Limiter there is no way you could pump the gas pedal and have the decrease in revs that quick unless it was the limiter. Whitestar is right that It does have a rev limiter at 8,200rpm to stop u detonating the engine, It will take more but you have to chip it and adjust the ECU Map. Do you actually have one of these? cars fungi, cos if you did you would know how they work properly
