  • Oh my gosh. This "that" tone! xD I have always had this tone in my head and I could never get it but.. that is it! I just bought one on ebay and cannot wait! Do you know what years this was in production?

  • @TroyGrilli According to bossarea.com the EH-2 was sold from April 1990 to December 1997. Enjoy the pedal!

  • Why did guitar center and other sites stop distributing this?

  • hahaha i had one of these... yes they are hard to find,.... great pedal, was great for some songs, such as linkin park

  • this pedal is sweet and super thumps up for the gi joe reference at the end, made me spit up my soda

  • @JaguarHolocaust YO JOE!

  • Wish they still made these!

  • Nice work on the video. I bought this pedal for very little off eBay years ago, but haven't really used it. That's going to change, thanks to you.

  • @AngeloFurlan Nice, glad to hear it! I've been thinking of adding it back to my pedalboard as well. Been doing a little shuffling lately.

  • I think the best pedals thay made were the DD-2, DSD-2, early DD-3, CE-2, DC-2, DC-3, GE-7 (get it modded) Ph1, Ph-1r, CE-1, BF-2 and do you see whats going on here? they are all early pedals!!! seriously, those are the ones I think are great! if you asked me about the latest stuff, I'm really not interested :) they hype them up so much! its insulting when that Johnny guy will tell a new generation of kids that the latest Boss DS-1 has the legend sound?? its not the same kids, get a vintage one

  • One of my fav boss pedals :) I even opened up and replaced all the capacitors with the top panasonic metal caps :)

  • i wonder how this pedal would sound if it had a MD-2 along side it.

  • @drapesmatchrug Probably like an angry bee trapped in a shoebox

  • Boss, y u no make it no more?

  • Haha, this thing could almost help you visually sync your picks with a tap-delay indicator, yaknow, just incase you had some crazy blend of 4/4 2/3 and god knows what =]

  • Very pleasantly surprised with this.

  • @AreYouIrrelevant I love Boss pedals... this is one of my favorites

  • I have two of these, willing to sell one if someone is interested? pm me

  • Whats the real difference between this and the compressor/sustainer they make?

  • @GeneralColinBowel This is a tonal-based effects pedal, acting like an intelligent/dynamic EQ, whereas the Compressor/Sustainer pedal affects the dynamics of the notes, not the tone. The EH-2 affects the sound, the CS-3 affects the attack and decay of the notes. Basically, they have nothing in common other than that they're both blue. The EH-2 has more in common with the GE-7 than anything.

  • Excellent demo !!

I'm thinking one of these would be really nice with my Electro acoustic Craviola !

but by all accounts, they're as rare as rocking horse poo :(

  • @SONGSTICKS I think you're onto something, that the best application for something like this would be an electric acoustic. A lot of times, the sound from one just sounds a little bit "off" and this'll be able to right that. Glad you liked the demo, man.

  • I have one of this, and i love it (used to love... it's no longer working).

In this exact moment, a friend of mine [who sold this pedal to me 7 y'ago] is asking it back again... i told him "if I can fix it, i will stay with it... on the other hand, if i can't, i'll think about to sell you the rubbish" RARE!!!

  • @SIGN666 It would probably limit or enhance the harmonics produced by the overdrive, although I'm not sure if that'd be a desired effect or not. I really don't have a metal setup to test it with, but I wouldn't expect it to do much for ya.

  • I would really like to hear this sound with distortion.

  • Is similar to booster sound ranges?

  • I picked one up in February 2010 very cheap. It was made in 1990 and looks like it was never taken out of the box so it must have been on the shelf in the shop for 20 years! Absolutely mint! I'm proud of it, box + instructions! I have a poster from 1990 also when they came out! I reckon the EH-2 will be highly sought after in another 10 years! It does make a hugh difference to rhythm guitar, bass even a mic for vox when recording, demos, etc. The colour sucks but suits it to a T :)

  • shit this pedal is really really really hard to find

  • @weekendchannel2 It's got all the hallmarks of a rare Boss pedal. Nonstandard knob/light placement, nonstandard color, "subtle" effect, the only pedal in the EH series... I got mine for $40 back in 2006, and see them going for $50-$60 presently. I'd expect them to only go up in value. Even better if you have a practical use for it in the meantime :)

  • @weekendchannel2 a carbon copy of this would be the barhinger se200 works the same way

  • video is well made.. thanks

  • @weekendchannel2 found plenty on ebay. price isnt that bad either

  • @drapesmatchrug You can definitely luck out on a good price if there isn't a current thread on HarmonyCentral or TGP about how awesome these are

  • @weekendchannel2 It pops up on eBay fairly regularly. Just use an AuctionStealer to put in a lowball bid and you'll get it for a good price after a while. I still have mine, definitely a pedal worth having.

  • @weekendchannel2 I just had one for sale on ebay. Just keep your eyes peeled.

  • @weekendchannel2 yes they are rare= i had one a few years ago...

  • @weekendchannel2 is on EBAY

  • HI, I have this pedal. Does it go at the very end of the chain? I have it just before my DD6 delay which is the last pedal in the chain. Really great video by the way.

  • @zspyder12 You can try it out anywhere, but I would imagine that it'd work best at the end of your signal chain, right before it hits the amp. You want the signal going into your amp to be as lively as possible, and by futzing with the harmonics, like this pedal does, you can certainly restore some of the dynamics that might have gotten dampened by your pedals. Whatever works best for you, though, is what you should go with, of course.

  • @zspyder12 i use it right after my wah

  • Cool. I have one of these, but mine has blue leds and the knobs are green. I wonder if they have other differences (inside).

I cannot play at home without this thing, it brings life to my amp, makes it sound much more open and brightful.

Thanx for the review, this is a hard to find and almost unknown Boss pedal.

  • @caiodorn Nice! I'd guess that the blue LEDs and green knobs were done as a mod by someone else, but that probably looks pretty cool.

  • I signed in just to say this is a really good demo -- informative, plenty of samples, accessible playing, and not too long. Thanks.

  • @SterilizeThePopulace I appreciate it, man. Thank you so much for the kind words!

  • @SterilizeThePopulace Thanks, man. That's what I try for!

  • thank you i was looking for this demo for a long time..but does it really restore the tone after a long chain of pedals ??? cause it's the only reason i want one ...thanks for the demo...

  • @salchaw Yup, that's the reason I initially picked it up, too. I noticed things sounding a bit dull after going through an old rack effects unit, and this helped liven things up before going into the amp. It doesn't really restore the signal, per-say, but it can be used to boost what you feel is missing without sounding artificial.

  • @jbisti

thanks jbisti , i'm gonna try one and see...

  • sounds great.
