  • Stolen from a song, " The Scotsman"

  • erm....me thinks she's heard the song "Donald, where's your Troosers"?! It's most definitely Scottish, not Irish and we all know what's under the Kilt! Maybe she is telling her version to a bunch of Rednecks (seriously) with weans in the room. anything G-rated like this, puts me to sleep. (Have a good stiff drink, lady!)

  • thats story is from a scottish song, not irish, i think that lady was fuckin retarded

  • F**K me she's lame!!!

  • This sketch is based on an old song called "Drunken Scotsman"

  • nick ure wrong. the picts were the true scottish. the celts were irish. the picts are the reason for hadrians wall. irish came over scottish today. easy

  • The Picts and the Caledonians were the original peoples here. The Scots came over from Ireland, but we were all Celtic people. Scots, Welsh, Irish, Cornish, Breton, Asturian, Basque etc. Look up the lorient festival in France for more info on celtic peoples.

    Enjoy

  • Hello Psychojeeper, you can buy a good kilt made in Wales on the internet with your family or clan tartan along with all the accessories to match. On seeing my son's kilt I admit their very smart, even I am thinking of getting one . Good luck with it

  • We have Kilts in WALES, someone found an old history book mentioning that fact, so wether its a fashion invention or a part of Welsh history I am not sure. The kilt seems very popular and is worn at family events like weddings christenings and booze ups. They are also expensive as my son would tell you, and yes they are worn with the family jewels hanging in the breeze

  • My wife is part Welsh and wants me to get a kilt in her family (Davies) tartan. The kilt has a long history with all the celtic peoples.

  • "My wife is part Welsh and wants me to get a kilt in her family (Davies) tartan. The kilt has a long history with all the celtic peoples. "

The celts NEVER wore kilts. The celts were very widely documented as wearing trousers.

The kilt is a uniquely scottish garment developed in the 16th century highlands.

the welsh never historically wore kilts.

  • The welsh never wore kilts taffy 402

  • I think you could be right . There is a shop in Cardiff which sells kilts to a family tartan made of Welsh Tweed. But to say the Welsh wore kilts years ago I do not know. My son got his through the internet, but I must admit its smart.

  • haha, the irish do wear kilts,

the entire scottish nation is descended from an irish tribe

  • all scots are descended from the celts ???? simply not true

  • the scots were an irish tribe

  • True

  • Not true, Caledonians and Picts first.

The name Pict come from Latin Picti (as in picture) as the Romans called them the Painted People.

Check teh BBC for a history of Scotland with Neil Oliver.

  • there is a song about this it is called under the scottsman's kilt

  • It's not just Scotsmen that wars kilts, Irishmen, Welshmen, and Canadians do too. I don't know whether this is true, but I've heard that there are more people in Canada who wear kilts than in Scotland.

  • That's probably true... I would say the same about the States, too

  • In Scotland u only really wear a kilt at special occasions ie weddings/proms/stag nights or a céilidh. Or when representing your country abroad - my pasty legged physics and chemistry teachers in kilts at paris 07 trip. One of the funniest things ull ever see.

  • yeah i'm born and bred Aberdeen

  • Am i right in knowing that it's the scots who wear the kilts :/

I'm part paddy and i've never known one to wear one:)

  • it depends on where in Ireland ur family is from. Ur more likely to wear one if ur from the north i think. Its got something to do with an old kingdom

  • the kilt comes from scotland

but irish can wear them too:)

but am no sure about the others:S

  • My wife wears a kilt and she's Japanese.

  • how is it very wrong..i'm just saying irishmen wear them too. I've got one, i have severl for the clans i'm from

  • oh irish lads wear kilts too

  • aye but not often

  • You must be Scottish. (in a good way)

  • Irish have their own tartan , its very nice

  • Hey, I love that song! Two suggestions:

    1) Scotsmen, not Irishmen, wear kilts.

    2) Replace "Ale" with "Scotch"

  • irish wears kilts also

  • Actually, irishmen, whelsh, scots, and canadians wear kilts. To get technical they copied the greeks. Kilts were a sign of status. They are worn by all the Britanic and Celtic states of Great Britain.

  • And the greeks may have gottenthe idea from he Egyptians. Kilts are world wide, and one of the oldest forms of clothing.

btw the joke she told is a semi literal retelling of the song, "The Scotsman".

  • Very cool, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.
