In the sonic cartoon, (sonic X) theres a clip of sonic breaking the sound barrier coming out of a flip.

He also regularly has races with a rocket powered formula one car. which he wins without breaking much of a sweat.

In a straight race theres very little in any cartoon or tv show that can even keep up.

Rainbow dash is best pony, and she can frigging fly, which would probably help if they ever had a race, but in a straight line?.. sorry Dashie, i just dont think its happening.

Oh and also, with previous data I had, RD's top speed is Mach 10 after completing the sonic rainboom, so far, I have only heard of a Mach cone forming around sonic, until i see it, I can't tell what the speed is, but if it's angle is less than that of the Mach cone that RD has right before the sonic rainboom there isn't a high possibility.

If you see the "Rainbow Dash vs Starcream", you'll see that RD can fly at mach 5, and after the rainboom, flies at mach 10. Much faster than Sonic's mach 1. So it depends on the length of the racetrack, since RD accelerates slower, but cruises faster :P
