I've been wondering why music nowadays seems to lack a special quality from the past. We still want to make good music, but we almost don't know how. We praise diversity, but we actually practice uniformity. We want originality, but everything seems more hackneyed than ever. I will give up everything just to see a trace of freshness...
Sorry if that has nothing to do with this wonderful playing. Thank you for sharing this.
There is too much money to be made from music nowadays, and the resources to make music (namely, computer programs and other people's music) are too readily available. It doesn't mean that there isn't great music out there, it just means that we have to look harder to find it and, perhaps, be more willing to listen to music that you wouldn't usually find your yourself listening to. Good luck!
My grandfather had his interpretation of Chopin's first concerto on schellackrecords. A wonderful performance, as is this one. In spite of my username, which, of course, is not my real name, this comment is not a joke. I also know a postwar performance on RCA Victor. I wish it were available on cd.
I have always admired Vanclyburn, but there is a very strong emotional under current that Brailowski has that few other's are capable of. I can't explaine it, only feel that it is there.
Exquisite performance...as ever with Brailowsky...i remember that old vinyl with the complete collection of chopin valzers..with that rose on the piano..an the laces'handkerchief...
When I was 15 years younger and listening to Brailowsky´s performance of the 3rd sonata and the complete set of waltzes for the first time I was petrified due to the beautiful sound he could create. I have always played the piano myself, and never -in years and countless hours of practicing- have I been capable of drawing tones and sound like 1% he did!
This man was a huge genius and will always be!!!
Buy all there is he ever played and be happy for the rest of your life!!!
Thank you for this upload of what is i.m.o. the most beautiful concerto ever written. Beauty must go forward.
