Awwwwwwwww Quito... So beautiful Quito.I miss so much Ecuador.
Ok.The guy basically is a farmer with a wide experience. He basically explain that is possible to cure the earth by making some modifications on the land.As you see in the video. The guy was able to make those pools...Those pools are not sealed at the bottom. That's means that the plants and trees at the botton of the land will get the water whenever they need it. He even show wild life and even fish in his land. I love it.
@Gioxtream THis is the way ahead for any land holder. I can assure you, that these techniques produce increased yields in multiples higher than the monocultures prevailing at the moment.
Puddling, best done by pigs does transform a soil. And finally, by retaining more water within a landscape, the sheer abundance of life increases.
All that is needed, is for land to become available and people given the time to evolve more of these farms.

In the first part they are talking about how soil erosion leads to greater silting of the riverbed, therefore causing higher floodwaters during the wet season. Also, they mention the importance of forests in water absorption of the soil and present solutions to combat soil erosion.
In the 2nd part Austrian permaculturist Sepp Holzer is featured here and he talks about restoring the natural environment in Ecuador through permaculture.
@tiroler537 I know this is the future, be the change you want to see in yourself and when the rest of the people see how awesome you're doing they'll follow suit.

You wont get very far with the worldwide soil erosion problem until people are taught about how to prevent it in schools in the countries effected.
The people that continue to deforest or over graze mountainsides usually have no idea what they are causing further down the road.

Gibt es eine deutsche Übersetzung davon?
Immerhin spricht Sepp Holzer ja Östereichisch, aber man versteht nichts, wegen der synchronisation!
