darlington sucks i have never been to a national event that has so many crashes at one race every year in my life. i guess thats why bill baiter went to nhra
Well if he overcorrected the same basic thing wouldve happened IMO. I think at that speed there was probably less than 5 percent chance of saving it once he lifted.
Yes if I remember correctly this was around 1995. Bret Kepner, Bob Varsha and Ted Jones. ESPN did do alot of tape delay races in this era...I remember watching this one on TV....
Its snowing.
Thats why he sliped =D

Could've been much worse.
He's actually lucky he rolled instead of slamming a wall head on
zunetrav4 2 years ago
Yeah that was pretty much the best way it could end out, other than actually correcting the car.
WTCHME 2 years ago
Yea after i watched i think he was still steering when he abruptly let off the throttle. Fatal mistake..(almost literally...)
zunetrav4 2 years ago
I think drag cars probably have very limited steering though..

when did ESPN cover the IHRA???
Nxtl68 2 years ago
I knew that ESPN started doing IHRA in 1985, and ended in about either 1995, or 96 if I was taking a guess.

why was the other car racing with a parachute attached to its end?
neogam209 2 years ago
The drag chute is used to quckly slow a race car at the end of a pass. Drivers will let it out at any sign of trouble...
