@BizarreGoblin Oh no! There really isn't much you can do to get better faster. You just have to suffer through it. Think of it as a forced vacation. Distract yourself. DO NOT SCRATCH. There are plenty of remedies online to help with the itching... baking soda/oatmeal baths and calamine lotion worked for me. Take care of yourself, sleep, eat healthy foods and keep yourself hydrated. I was contagious (getting new spots) for about a week, but I was still dealing with scabs a month later. GOOD LUCK!
@shakes1327 Thanks for the reply.<3 I just found out its not chicken pox. (thank goodness for my family, they've been acting like I have the plague.)XD It's some sort of severe allergic reaction that very much resembles chicken pox, but I'm lucky enough not to have it on my face. I'm trying very hard not to scratch. The calamine and oatmeal is helping immensely. Thanks again. :3
I've always found it illogical how hipsters value non-conformity and yet they are conforming by moulding themselves to the ideal of what a "hipster" is. I enjoy classical music, I listen to records, I enjoy old b-grade films on vhs tapes, I play classic/retro video games, but I am not a hipster. People can call us nerds, or dorks, or hipsters, or whatever they like, but I'll always be myself - and that's all I'll ever try to be.
@krendoshazin This seems to be the consensus among most of the people commenting... to simply be ourselves and enjoy whatever we like regardless of what others may say about it. What a healthy community we've built for ourselves here. :)
Nobody has commented on the gnome because it's weird and out of place. And since you're a hipster, that actually means it's totally expected of you to just have a gnome all up in your video for no reason.
Also, you didn't like Pokemon OR Spice Girls?! We're not friends anymore.
Just going with the stereotypical "look" of a hipster (if you know what I mean), I would say that, ironically (hehe) hipsters actually appear to be becoming the current trend! I just notice because I've seen some pictures of what is supposed to be a "hipster" online, and am now noticing I see lots of people in real life dressing in similar ways. Just something funny I noticed, especially when hipsters supposedly try and stay away from trends hehe.
No one's commented on the gnome yet! I noticed him videos ago! I even waved my mouse on top of him in case there was some secret annotation that would lead to a whole alternate video narrated by the gnome all about life in his gnome world.
I had chicken pox as a kid. Discovered I had it when I was in a toy store and was sent to the car to wait. Being forced to leave the toy store before I was ready was more tragic than the symptoms themselves, which also sucked.
If you always avoided the mainstream, it clearly makes you NOT follow the mainstream.
But aren't you the just as controled by it as people are who follow the mainstream?
You said you didn't like Pokemon or the Spice Girls because they were popular, mainstreamed, but in my opinion by that you give the mainstream full control over yourelf by trying to avoid anything popular.
People shouldn't care that much about, wheather they follow the mainstream or put full effort in not to, it controls.
I never broke a bone either. Stiches I only got after I was grown up, from minor surgeries. I didn't like Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears or Spice Girls. I don't avoid mainstream, but I don't blindly follow it either, I just like what I like.
@ErikaPSJ When I was younger, I think I avoided things purely because they were popular. But as an adult I definitely found that more balanced approach of "I just like what I like". It's a good way to go. :)
Oh my Goodness! Chicken Pox! Are you sure it is Chicken Pox?
I’ve never had Chicken Pox, thanks to the vaccine. I just found a website which lists some remedies for Chicken Pox but Youtube is not letting me post its link in this comment :(
I never got stitches, I’ve never played hockey and I was 11 yrs. old when I was taken to a movie theatre the very first time. The musical taste that I had when I was in school was very different from that of my classmates.
@Pnasalberta I'm surprised by how many people are saying they've never broken a bone. It feels like everyone I know has broken a bone at some point in their life.
@phampants You're right, I do think being weird is the cool thing to do these days. It kills me how often I hear people say "I'm such a nerd" or "I spend sooo much time on the internet". I don't think most people have truly earned the right to claim those things. :P
HIPSTERS UNITE. Being a hipster isn't all that bad, because you can be blatantly hipster-y by making blatant hipster jokes. For instance, whenever you don't want to do something, you can say it's "too mainstream" for you. I doubt real hipsters actually do that, but us sort or maybe hipsters can!
I never broke a bone, and I still haven't lost all my baby teeth, although I'm only 15, so I have some time still. I also knit in class so...is that odd?
if someone avoids things just because they are popular, i might have to agree with emily's tweets earlier, because that sounds a bit pretentious. it sounds like substituting one mainstream for another.
i got chicken pox kind of late in life as well. 11 maybe; give or take a year. never broke a bone or had stitches. are those things that you're supposed to do as a kid? i'm not sad i missed out.
@SharkeyeJones I think it's a matter of not wanting to feel like a sheep. It's a desire to retain one's individualism. I see nothing wrong with that, or with enjoying the mainstream. Hell, if no one's getting hurt...
@SharkeyeJones Absolutely. Not liking something simply because it's popular is very different from trying something out and finding an actual reason to not like it.
Do hipsters shop at Urban outfitters and american apparel because i shop there frequently...I also like thrift stores and carry a sachel.Does that make me a little hipster?
I guess you could say I'm a hipster too... I didn't like rap when I was a kid, and I was so hip I didn't even learn to ride a bike... ;)
Only advice I can give is don't scratch! I don't know much about the chicken pox, I got them when I was 2, before everyone else got them... Oh god! I was a hipster even back then!
I was allergic to mainstream as a kid too. Nowadays, I take a peak at mainstream, while I avoid labels like "hipster" or "eclectic". As Gaspard Augué and Xavier de Rosnay, aka Justice, would sing "Under the spotlight neither black nor white it doesn't matter", and I try to live by that; even though the song has a more racial focus it can be used for labels too.
@zware88 I don't think I actively avoid mainstream things like I did when I was younger. But I'm still certainly not someone who will blindly follow a trend. If I happen to like something that's popular, so be it.
You missed out with Pokémon! Everything else is pretty cool, just don't start wearing lensless glasses ;-)
For chicken pocks run a bath of oatmeal and sit in it with oven mitts duct-taped over your hands. I don't know anyone who's actually done that but loads of people recommend it.

Also I wouldn't know about tips for chickenpox, except for "don't scratch". I got that when I was 5 (don't they have vaccines for it?).
One thing that I did get very recently was head louse. You know, in spite of it being a parasite only found on pre-school children...

Never broken bone. Was stung by a bee when I was 24. Stitches when I severed 2.5 tendons on my right hand.
