No where have I stated that abortions should be illegal. In fact I would probably agree with you on some situations where it would be necessary. Our disagreement is over 2 facts: First that it is killing a human being and therefore should be done with more consideration and restrictions than removing a wart. Second it is the sole property of the woman. Conception requires 2 buisiness partners. For me, adoption is a more humane and ethical choice for a healthy baby of an irresponsible couple.
Its not about the procedure being gross, its about actually seeing a child being killed. Children can live outside of the womb as early as six months into the pregnancy. Late term abortions are infanticide. There are times when an abortion is necessary, but having one as method of contriception is wrong.
Like I said before, I'm not changing my mind. Considering abortion the same as infanticide is absurd. If you're trying to change minds you're talking to the wrong woman.
I have no intention on trying to make you change your mind. I just want to challenge your cavalier attitude on such a serious matter. Throughout life we have to make tough choices. We make those choices based on the risk and benifits it will have to our future and the amount of responsibility we are willing to take on. If you choose (pro choice) to use your body for sex with a man, there is an inherent risk of pregnancy. Once concieved, a child is no longer a choice, it is a responsibility.
I completely disagree. I think the woman has infinitely more say and worth then a fetus. If she doesn't want it, for any reason, I don't see any reason to keep it.
I think it's irrelevant anyway as people will have abortions whether it's illegal or not. The difference being instead of just getting rid of the fetus, it'll also likely be killing the woman.
As a European it is really hard for me to see how the whole pro-choice/pro-life thing doesn't seem absolutely ridicules to everybody. Not the issue itself which is very important. But is it really a matter of being for or against life or choice? Is anyone against either of these thing? I certainly hope not. It is a matter of abortion, so you are either pro-abortion or anti-abortion... everything else is propaganda and not being willing to debate the actual issue. I'm just trying to understand
I don't take as much issue with the use of the word choice as it's referring to the choice a woman has over her body. The only issue I have with the pro/anti abortion is that even though I believe that women should have the right to abortion, I wouldn't call myself PRO abortion, as I'm not running out and advocating that all pregnant women have them, I'm pro the choice TO have them. It's mostly just semantics, though I suppose..but unfortunately semantics are pretty damn important in politics
Of course you don't mind using chioce that is the distorting propaganda from your side of the issue. You think it's about choice and Sarah Palin and comrades think it is about life. But isn't it really about both? She obviously don't think that life is sacred since she hunts (And from her very conservative attitude I would guess she is for the death penalty - but I actually don't know). And I am sure your side is not for abortion in the 8th month, so there is also a limit to the choice of women.
Maybe the problem is that I am not use to this being an issue. In Denmark abortion has been legal since 1973 and the only party that is against it has at most gotten around 2% of the votes the last 10 years. So it has never been an issue while I was interested in politics. After I wrote my comment I thought about the pro-aboution and like you wrote it does seem a little to entusiastic. But the point was this is a matter of balancing the individuals right to choice with the sanctity of life
Personally, no one wants abortion that far in, hell, no one wants abortions at all, but I'm against restricting it to specific trimesters and such.
It's been hotly debated and under attack here since 1974, heh.
I know it's a very complex issue, and I understand why people would be individually against it, I just cannot push that to making the choice for everyone.
In any case, it's nice to be able to talk to someone about it calmly. :D
Logically,if Sarah Palin's daughter had had a full sex education program discussing contraceptives, and she became pregnant, would that prove those programs don't work?
No, it wouldn't, but Palin's abstinence-only plan is working in the belief that they can prevent teens from having sex by teaching them to remain virgins until marriage, which most won't do.
The fact that Palin is such an advocate and there is an example of the failure in the system within her own household should dissuade her from abstinence-only education, imo.
I'm not saying comprehensive sex ed will stop every person from unprotected sex, but it will prevent some.
im pro coice too and pro gay marrige that is fucken dumb how she isnt.

Obviously you have never seen an abortion, or worst yet seen a late term abortion.

I haven't seen knee surgery either, but I'm sure it's pretty gross to watch. In any case, I'm still not anti-knee surgery. Or abortion.

You work with children, yet you support infanticide. Interesting.

Infanticide? Are you serious. Lollerskates.
You win the "I made a dumb ass comment" award.
Good job, Jasmine. Amazing!

I also meant politics in the U.S., as I don't know anything about politics outside of it.

Part II:
So many things are labeled to just get a rise out of people, like the "Patriot Act" and "Partial-Birth Abortion Ban".
There's a bunch more examples, I'm sure, but those jump out at me.
