Unless lawyers are considered martial artists, whether a bout is sanctioned or not has no baring on the content of material... Mixed Martial Arts can occur on the street, in a gym, or in a boxing ring in japan... Originally, he fought (and won) in the UFC before he ever fought in pride. although he lost his UFC debut against vitor belfort (in 1998), he did well. you see that date? he made his UFC debut in 1998. maybe you're missing something about the fight game... I think his point is more that their recent record is pretty bad, yet they are still the main name on their card. Whereas there are other guys with better records in the UFC against relevant opponents that are way down on the card list. But we all know that part of the business is a fighter's popularity.
