The worlds population is now 6.8 Billion, from just one billion in the beginning of the 20th century. That is an extreme population boom in such a short length of time, and the number just keeps going up.

The human overpopulation problem needs to be stoppped through a drop in reproducing, and eduction on birth contro, l not becoming vegan. Wind, solar, geothermal, coal, wave power, nuclear cant etc. run the modern civilization bc of low EROEI. Biofuel is energy loser (it means more energy in than out). It doesnt matter how much stuff is in the ground if its to expensive to extract it and process it. Example, in order to produce 3 barrels of oil from unconventional fossil fuels like shale and tar sands, you must spend 2 barrels.

The Problem is not so much overpopulation as it is overconsumption! We consume way more than we need and then we wonder why we end up with heart diseases,Cancer, Cholesterol, Diabete. But the greatest tragedy is that we waste huge amouts of ressources left to rot away while these could be used by other who really need it!

To help stem the tide of overpopulation, here's a thought. Only 47% of the population pays taxes in the US. How about if you're not a tax payer, you can't breed. Thus restricting reproduction to the productive members of society. It also encourages the deadbeats of society to get off their ass.

Overpopulation is narrow minded. You need to think out of the box. The world isn't flat. The faster we populate this world, the faster we can advance our technology and populate other planets. We can use resources from those planets. Exponential growth is nothing to be afraid of.

According to the U.N. Population Database, the world's population in 2010 will be 6,908,688,000. The landmass of Texas is 268,820 sq mi (7,494,271,488,000 sq ft). So, divide 7,494,271,488,000 sq ft by 6,908,688,000 people, and you get 1084.76 sq ft/person. That's approximately a 33' x 33' plot of land for every person on the planet, enough space for a town house. So does that sound like world overpoplation to you, every other country is still free only Texas is used 100% truth & fact.

The non-meat food we produce is enough to feed 11 Billion people. Much food is thrown away, dumped into the ocean, to rise food prices.
The controllers of the planet just find it harder to control that much people, therefore the brainwashing starts even in school.
First they came with an iceage, we responsable, than with this or that, than overpopulation, next climate change... to make us feel bad about us and obidient to the authorities and to reduce nordic population with guilt complexes.

Truth be told we are massively over populated. With a lot of undesirable traits floating in the gene pool. It's going to take a super bug like the black death to thin out the population and a lot of undesirable traits that would have been naturally eliminated before modern medicine interfered to save everyone. Honestly it's long overdue and just a matter of time.

Yes, who wouldn't love another plague to wipe out a quarter of the population? Sure all humans have undesirable traits, but we also have good qualities that let us help each other despite our numbers. Massively overpopulated would be, let me throw out a astronomical number, (The Fifth Element) 200 billion. We have a little under 7 billion. The Earth has a surface area of 510 million square kilometers, 150 million of that being land.

Read zerohumans post, and you'll see why we need another one. I agree that some of us do have good qualities, but governments for the most part don't allow that to surface in the way that it should. There's no reason why families should starve, why broken down places like East Saint Louis are left to rot, why people are thrown to the streets, why people corrupt a system that was supposed to protect/help us.

Of that 150 million square KM of land that we have, how much of it should preserve forestry? How much do we allocate the land for agriculture? Since we have such a discrepancy between the poor and the rich, why not build more affordable housing complexes-- it doesn't have to be fancy, just something to house people at a rate they can live comfortably.

I'm willing to bet even in a world where everyone has a place to live, that they'd want to live in cities anyway. Not everyone is mentally and physically strong enough to own their own piece of land and care for it. It's the over-consumption that seems to be the real problem and that's what we need to be focusing on. You are right, everyone should be able to own a house without living in poverty for it.

Overpopulation is absolutely bogus, it is merely a mechanism for governments to control their people. The West is depopulating at an alarmingly rapid rate (Spain has a reproduction rate of 0.7) and food resources are the greatest they have ever been. The only problem is transport and politics. Do not buy into this myth.

hydrogen is just an energy Carrier, (like a rechargeable battery) - not an Energy Source. It is not an energy *source* like Fossil Fuels are. Most hydrogen is made *from* fossil fuels; and you can make oil from sunlight too via algea (infact thats where it comes from orginally).
Hydrogen technology is hugely over-estimated in its potential because of this misunderstanding.
Hydrogen is pushed because car companies are trying to pretend they have a future beyond the oil age.

Only creatures with no brains are careless about their reproduction rates. All animals are taking care of it. Less food, less kids. Pretty normal. People think that they have the right to reproduce. I recommend you actually look at the statistics which show the whole entire Western world is on the verge of declining, and actually declining very fast in Europe with negative replacement rates. This would be the same case for the whole world if they are allowed to fully industrialise, as *level of development is inversely proportional to population growth*. You can take that one to the bank.
