If theres a name associated with customer satisfaction, its J.D. Power and Associates. I mean, come on—with a name like J.D. Power, the firm is practically the superhero of customer satisfaction. So the news that the iPhone has maintained its head-of-the-class standings in both the company's consumer and business smartphone satisfaction studies is no small matter.
Survey Says: PCMag Readers Pick Favorite Products Despite its problems, the iPhone is the most beloved phone among our readers—hands down. our readers' love affair with the Apple iPhone abides, as it was the only phone brand they rated significantly better than average, making it the clear Readers' Choice with a SBA 9.0 out of 10.
its a really great phone but it cuts off almost every time you close it ... the screen wiggles to much with the key board ........ i guess the phone is to new because the problems are still there
Sales of Palm's Pré are slumping, a US financial analyst has claimed, but the good news is that may make the smartphone cheaper to buy.
Morgan Joseph analyst Ilya Grozovsky this week told investor clients that his checks suggest July Pré sales of just 100,000 units - half of the number be believes were sold in June.
my dad just bought me one, my rumor broke lol. and i was freaking cause i wanted another rumor. it was perfect, i could type and read and operate it PERFECT! the board on the pre looks small and i'll probably have trouble typing.
but, i guess i might get used to it. i still want another rumor though..
The Pre doesn't push anything, not user friendly, poor battery life, very small keyboard that is almost worthless. Buy the Pre and iphone, use them both for a month and you will throw the Pre away. Nothing but a iphone what-a-be.
Wait in line or one, what line? There are no lines for the Pre! What a joke of a phone!
Well, it's fun to read all these comments. First I think Jon is a good guy, I like you and what you do. Second I think that the Palm webOS is allready outstanding and beats all the others (as soon it improves while development). You guys all think about a comparison between the Pre and the iPhone, saying it could not beat the iPhone because it would lack some (crappy) features, but you guys should think about where Android and the iPhone started and what they were and still are lacking!

this phone is a failure, i took mine back after 7 days. the list of basic things it cant do is not even funny. cant forward text, cant change ringer on text/email alert,no flash player, cant put skyfire on it, no camcorder. no reminder if u miss the 1 beep it does when a text/email comes in, keyboard is smaller than u think.

I think Palm new OS will be a competitor vs apple OS. When The Pre or other palm new devices with the same OS worldwide in 2010. I got a feeling I will take Blackberry Market share and make apple run for its money.
lol like the iphone coming out with recording 2 years after its original model was released? the pre just came out and still competes with the iphone. go pay more money for the new video recording iphone so u can record your boring ass life and try to convince yourself that its "cool" because u have an iphone
I really want to like this phone but i miss my blackberry already. Battery life is terrible I dont even make it though a day of work. I hate this keyboard. I dont have baby fingers. really im just dumb as shit and fell into the hype trap. what a mess. Hey if you like im glad for you! I think this is a phone for people who never had a smart phone. so then you dont know what your missing
Is it a new form factor? The Samsung i730 (which I've owned for years and love, the i830 all use the same portrait one handed sliding qwerty keyboard..similar sized screen, but this is smaller and thinner.
I am a Sprint customer since 2005 and I wouldn't change providers. I'm so excited for the Pre - I tested the living daylights out of it and I'll post my impressions soon. Customer service has always been excellent for me on Sprint - the call center and store reps, so I have no issues. They've always treated me like royalty.
multitasking is great but i think must people would be fine with push notifications and who knows what the next iphone would bring us i dont know but the iphone is hard to beat at this point not saying impossible ...
What do u think about the new 9630? It has 3.2 MP, keypad like the Bold, LCD screen like the 8900 Javalin, and just a bit bigger than the Curve. I actually like it and will be getting it. Sincerely: Mike from Canada
The Pre will "change the game". While Sprint's coverage is excellent, they will definitely have to address the customer service issue. The Pre won't be able to carry Sprint, especially since the exclusivitiy is only for 6 months, which is NOT enough time to convince At&T, Verizon and T Mobile subscribers to jump ship for this next level mobile device.
Sprint has pretty good service, but it's coverage could be better compared to say Verizon. I think I read online that Verizon might be offering the Palm Pre later this year.
a pop out key board better because you can keep a full screen to use and their little menus are sick on the pre like pressing the bottom to change applications and tv and i think it is better than the old iphone but iphone with the choice of multi tasking or push notification would be better. Also iPhone for sure has a better media player: ipod and photos and videos but pre still has some shit on the iphone gonna wait 4the iphone comes out if theres a new one and palm pre is only in the US right
With wireless computer syncing, what the hell are you planning on keeping on your phone. Unless you plan on downloading 5 dvds and 500 songs in a day - your fine. I don't know why everyone is so obsessed with storage. I have an Ipod with 120gb and have only used 30gb and I am trying to fill it. I have this phone and am completely in awe of it. The only thing that is lacking - in any regards - is the batt life, and I use 6-8 thousand mins a month, so not bad. (reason: in real estate)
Does anyone know what a rough estimate of what the monthly bill would be for unlimited texting, unlimited data, and lowest # of minutes for the Palm Pre?
The rough estimate of what the monthly bill would be for unlimited texting, unlimited data, and lowest # of minutes for the Palm Pre is 69.99 for 450 min. unlimited everything else.
i guess you could get the simply everything plan which is 99 a month..my family of 3. Myself my Mom and Dad have a plan with unlimited everything with 1700 minutes to share for about 170 a month so it shouldn't be much.
The pre definately looks amazing. In the end though it will be very hard to get people who have an iphone and have invested money in apps and have for example sold their ipod to switch to a completely different phone with no app store. It does look amazing though.
Though I love, love, love my iPhone, the Palm Pre looks pretty beastly as well, and since my mother is considering switching our wireless to Sprint, I might have a chance at getting it. :)
Sprint is ALREADY 4G in some markets to be nationwide soon. You won't have to wait for Iphone to get their crap together and get their 3G up to speed first.
I have Sprint already and I've never had a problem. I would advise everybody that is purchasing the Pre to get the unlimited plan with Sprint. It's $99.00 a month for unlimited everything.
Much much better and headed towards 4G already and is already there in some markets. FYI, like the Instinct, I'm sure some version of the unlimited data package will be required.
That's interesting. One more reason I like AT&T though is their use of sim cards. To me the iPhone is the best phone I could ever ask for, and since I have it on AT&T right now, I don't think I'm going to switch carriers. But again, its my opinion.
jon how do you have so much money to spend on phones? And if your unhappy with your palm pre when you get it send it over to me and i'll be pretty greatful
The Pre really needs a touchscreen number pad for T9 one handed texting.. I have a Palm Centro right now and trying to type with one hand is really hard.
Yes. The Pre is a CDMA only device. Being that North America is the only continent that has CDMA coverage, there is no Pre outside of the US, Canada, and Parts of Mexico. It is rumored that there is going to be scaled down version of the Pre called the EoS coming to GSM networks later this year.
I'm curious to know , if it's a web OS what if you are selling it or you have your service temporarily suspended like if you dont pay your bill or if Sprint is upgrading networks ? Are we without the phone then or just without some extras ? Please reply ...
ooo how fun.. i would want to try something like this at home.. but i know thats probably never going to happen haha but yeah good job. i really ejoyed the video
I've used the iPhone plenty of times to know how it works and what it does. 2 of my closest friends have one. In fact, one of my friends has probably one of the greatest games ever to grace a cell phone: "iDracula".
Did you even read my comment? I said there's nothing wrong with the PHONE ITSELF. It's the dumbass APPLE FANBOYS who give it a bad name. Are you that dense, or do you just put on a show for people?
I own an iPhone and I feel there is allot to catch up to if one wants to create a supposed iPhone killer. I guess only time will tell but I still feel that the itunes app store has so much to offer (and this is only the beginning) and has already a huge step in advance compared to everyone else.
why do people love or hate it. The device has not been released yet, and I believe that until I use it, I will neither love nor hate it. It looks very nice, won't replace my iphone, but ill just have to wait until it is out.
Im pretty shure they will. I had a month to play with instynkt when i swith from verizon. And when it comes to customer service i must say that si a way better than verizon. So is coverage. They use a verizon network. Im so happy palm decided to go with sprint. !!!
I have been on sprint for a while, and am psyched for the pre. I will get it the day it comes out (if I can convince my store to end my contract two months early). But that shouldn't be a problem. sprint is really nice and customer care is great. They feel threatened by the iphone, so they work hard to keep their customers. The service in my area is pretty good, but I have been roaming in some weird places. One street has no coverage for a mile, then it is back to full bars a minute later.
It has not really been confirmed when the Pre will be released in the UK, I am looking to get a new phone this year but will wait for WWDC to see how the new iPhone stacks up... if it disappoints I will continue using my 3G iPhone and hoping the Pre gets released here soon because the phone looks fantastic.
The Palm Pre will NOT be an iPhone killer. I have to say, that the multi tasking is very nice. But how do you get all your photos, music and media at your Palm Pre? With the Windows Exprorer?!
That is the nice thing on the iPhone. It syncs just like my iPod with iTunes.
I can't wait till the WWDC and I'm looking forward what Phill "the filler" will show us. I hope for an update for the iPhone to include 32 Gig.
You get all your photos, music, and media on the Pre by plugging it in to usb where it shows up as a mass storage disk, then just copy and paste your media over to it; very easy.
i'm not gonna get one cuz they blatantly copied apple's iphone multitouch technology, which they know is patented. and every time apple infringes on patents by random people, those people get them and sue them (which they rightfully should), and i hope apple follows suit and sues people who infringe on their patents! other than that it looks like a cool device, but i HATE the blatant rip off.
multitouch is NOT patented by apple. It was first made 30 years ago. ALL that is patented by apple, is the particular way they managed to get it to work. That is it.
I assume you have read an article saying that this has occurred. The truth of the matter, is that no consumer could at this point know that Palm has used the EXACT same technology as apple to make a multitouch device, or even if the patent will hold up to inspection. We will have to wait and see.
not just cuz of that, although its just f'd up. but also, i'm not gonna wanna buy a phone from a manufacturer that's not gonna be there for customer service in the future. no matter how much fanfare or commotion surrounds the Pre, its not gonna be enough to save the entire company. theyre just lookin for chunk change from consumers before they officially file for bankruptcy. why do u think theyre the only ones who dont care about patent infringment?.. you cant sue companies if they're bankrupt.
I dont know about where you live, but where I live i just have to go back to the store that sold it to me, solid gold customer service for every phone!
And i dont give a fuck about Palm, i just want the phone! Honestly, its the best phone ive ever seen to enter the market! brilliant stuff
Apple wont touch palm. Every knows that palm has largest list of pattents and there is few palm pattent that iphone uses. Ist all over net - just do some search.
I am a Sprint premier customer, and can tell you that the service and coverage is not an issue. I have always had palm phones, and yes I will be one of the first people to get a Pre. (Since premier customers can get them the day before.) I can't wait.
the phone looks nice and the OS looks pretty cool, but idk about the sprint network, plus im not a fan about the small keyboards that r on treos and stuff
plus if palm is looking to compete with the iPhone
1. it was really dumb to release it 2 days before WWDC
2. there gonna need a really good app type store if there jumpin on that bandwagon which i could imagine, but i highly doubt palm will get that far
The Pre will take iphone sales easily, IMO it's aimed at business FIRST though and it lacks features I want. It'll also cost too much, to use it properly you HAVE to get it with unlimited data, I use pay as you go and I would also need to buy it unlocked, that's expensive. Think I'll get the Sony Ericsson Idou, does everything I want out the box with an amazing OS.
It's going to need an abundant app store like Apple. We'll see if that happens. I would just like to see a smart phone with Flash enabled web browsing. Why has no one done this? Would it require heftier bandwidth than the 3g allows?
The pre seems to be great from what I've seen in video demos. I'm definitely getting one since I've got an upgrade coming from sprint. It seems like it's only downfalls so far is no equivalent to the app store and I'm a little worried about games since it's web based, but only time will tell.
i dont think trying to compete with the iphone. palm never mentioned the iphone while advertising there phone. they tryna make a complete phone to get back on top like they were years ago.
This a lot like premature ejaculation.........very disappointing.

Everyone should remember that this is really Palm Pre 1.0 competing against iPhone 3.0.
Palm Pre has barely released it's first version while iPhone is already on its third version (iPhone > 3G > 3GS)
The Pre has barely begun to fight.

The worst fucking thing about the iPhone isn't the phone itself -- it's the goddamn stupid fucking fanboys that support the company.
TheReapersSon 2 years ago
why dont you get one and then talk about it...because obv you never had one for yourself
penguinfarm3 2 years ago

Everyone is doing these Palm Pre thoughts and impressions. Jon4lakers, Soldierknowsbest and a few more.
Does it not make more sense to wait until you have it in your hand before giving thoughts and impressions.

why do people love or hate it. The device has not been released yet, and I believe that until I use it, I will neither love nor hate it. It looks very nice, won't replace my iphone, but ill just have to wait until it is out.

I wish that Sprint would let iPhone users try out the Palm Pre and see if they would like to switch. I would love to get one as soon as it comes out.
CharliZmoma 2 years ago
Im pretty shure they will. I had a month to play with instynkt when i swith from verizon. And when it comes to customer service i must say that si a way better than verizon. So is coverage. They use a verizon network. Im so happy palm decided to go with sprint. !!!
virtualends1 2 years ago
yea get a Pre from a company going out of business ! No way.
brubin2010 2 years ago

I hope for an update for the iPhone to include 32 Gig.
ilol93i 2 years ago 2
You get all your photos, music, and media on the Pre by plugging it in to usb where it shows up as a mass storage disk, then just copy and paste your media over to it; very easy.
DesperateDante 2 years ago
i'm not gonna get one cuz they blatantly copied apple's iphone multitouch technology, which they know is patented. and every time apple infringes on patents by random people, those people get them and sue them (which they rightfully should), and i hope apple follows suit and sues people who infringe on their patents! other than that it looks like a cool device, but i HATE the blatant rip off.
YUPnNOPE 2 years ago
multitouch is NOT patented by apple. It was first made 30 years ago. ALL that is patented by apple, is the particular way they managed to get it to work. That is it.
Random0Raider 2 years ago
i know that! the particular way they made it work ON A PHONE! that PALM copied!
YUPnNOPE 2 years ago
I assume you have read an article saying that this has occurred. The truth of the matter, is that no consumer could at this point know that Palm has used the EXACT same technology as apple to make a multitouch device, or even if the patent will hold up to inspection. We will have to wait and see.
Random0Raider 2 years ago
yea i guess we will see. and no i didn't read an article that said that. it's obvious to me that this is the case.
YUPnNOPE 2 years ago
You're not gonna get it cos of that? lol...
Youre talking as if you are Apple... as for me i get the best thing that comes along, and the iphone 3g is old news. Bring on the trumpets!
TheHusky9 2 years ago
not just cuz of that, although its just f'd up. but also, i'm not gonna wanna buy a phone from a manufacturer that's not gonna be there for customer service in the future. no matter how much fanfare or commotion surrounds the Pre, its not gonna be enough to save the entire company. theyre just lookin for chunk change from consumers before they officially file for bankruptcy. why do u think theyre the only ones who dont care about patent infringment?.. you cant sue companies if they're bankrupt.
YUPnNOPE 2 years ago
I dont know about where you live, but where I live i just have to go back to the store that sold it to me, solid gold customer service for every phone!
And i dont give a fuck about Palm, i just want the phone! Honestly, its the best phone ive ever seen to enter the market! brilliant stuff
TheHusky9 2 years ago
Apple wont touch palm. Every knows that palm has largest list of pattents and there is few palm pattent that iphone uses. Ist all over net - just do some search.

g4 lol. its the third gen iphone not 4th. the second one just used 3g cellular networks.
IIXRATEDIIHiTMAN 2 years ago
lol they call it g4 because is coming after the iphone 3g i wonder how apple is going to call the new iphone
damiaking 2 years ago
maybe the Pre will be a better phone, but Apples marketing will reduce the sales of the pre.

HTC Touch Pro 2.....Has everything you wish palm would have had...Only its not Apple nor Banana.
HaniJerZlife 2 years ago
I am a Sprint premier customer, and can tell you that the service and coverage is not an issue. I have always had palm phones, and yes I will be one of the first people to get a Pre. (Since premier customers can get them the day before.) I can't wait.
singersorel 2 years ago
the phone looks nice and the OS looks pretty cool, but idk about the sprint network, plus im not a fan about the small keyboards that r on treos and stuff
plus if palm is looking to compete with the iPhone
1. it was really dumb to release it 2 days before WWDC
2. there gonna need a really good app type store if there jumpin on that bandwagon which i could imagine, but i highly doubt palm will get that far
dipsetking4 2 years ago
Joooon i thouht you´re an Apple fan!!!
how can u do this to the iphone?? the new iphone is coming soon!
posteri007 2 years ago
The Pre will take iphone sales easily, IMO it's aimed at business FIRST though and it lacks features I want. It'll also cost too much, to use it properly you HAVE to get it with unlimited data, I use pay as you go and I would also need to buy it unlocked, that's expensive. Think I'll get the Sony Ericsson Idou, does everything I want out the box with an amazing OS.

It's looks pretty nice. :) but if i havent got a ipone own money and im 13 years old then i would buy this phone

It's going to need an abundant app store like Apple. We'll see if that happens. I would just like to see a smart phone with Flash enabled web browsing. Why has no one done this? Would it require heftier bandwidth than the 3g allows?
aaronjm94 2 years ago
win mo 6.5 has flash,

I would so get it, if I had the money, and if I didn't have an iPhone.
zakkuvloging 2 years ago
The pre seems to be great from what I've seen in video demos. I'm definitely getting one since I've got an upgrade coming from sprint. It seems like it's only downfalls so far is no equivalent to the app store and I'm a little worried about games since it's web based, but only time will tell.

but yes, you can buy it retail right from sprint without a plan... it would just cost a butt load
