  • inspired by ZZ Top It was recorded (minus the vocals) in one take. May sings with an American accent On a close inspection, John Deacon can be heard playing the wrong notes in some bass parts, and Brian May can also be heard laughing at the end of the song. .The band's web site states they were unaware that they were being recorded but Brian May has cast doubt on the authenticity of this, though confirming the first take of the backing track was used. WIKIPEDIA!!!

  • I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS I LOVE THIS!!!

  • Queen were simply amazing...totally underated talent wise!!!

  • That opening guitar riff alone is testament to Brian Mays talent. Think about it. Eighteen notes in about three seconds. I'd tear my fingers apart if I tried to play that.

  • Recorded in one take? While practicing? That's amazing. just shows how incredible Queen is.

  • i wanted to play guitar after falling in love with this song

  • great story.... btw i found great tabs to this song!

  • i was just a city boy and the telecaster was my only toy.

  • it took everyone else 30 years to catch us

  • I knew this was a classic when I bought it over 30 years ago

  • first album I ever traded for, this song was just an overlooked bonus. 197? I appreciate the jaded side of the biz..

  • first album I ever traded for, this song was just an overlooked bonus. 197?

  • Can't get this song out of my mind lately

  • Luv This Song!!!

  • When I was a teenager a long time ago, I saw some graffiti on a wall that said "Queen is the King of Rock". That say's it all.

  • a little Mississippi blues makes any song sound better...of course Freddie's vocal range doesn't hurt either..:-)

  • @huey148 especially since Brian May is the one singing...

  • Us Queen fans, just have good taste... I love ZZ Top aswell, but this is just bloody brilliant!

  • It's Bad Company - "Can't get enough"/ZZ TOP - "Driving while blind"! What year did this come out?

  • @TheSevenSeasOfRye The song was actually inspired by ZZ Top. Thanks for the upload though!

  • This is one of their BEST songs!!!!!!!

  • @MrMegaFredzeppelin

Queen doing their best 'Cream',John Deacon sounds like Jack Bruce on Bass.

  • @onthemoveagain Best Cream? ... I'd say Best "Electric Lady Land"

  • awesome song!

  • one of the best queen songs! amazing guitar and vocals...

  • I really love blues!

  • nice bit of history there mate!!! Thanks!

  • Obama hates this song!!!!

  • @Ulai777 why?

  • @Ulai777 what?

  • @Ulai777 i say fuck obama!

  • I think that when someone wants to click dislike for a song like this they should have to put their name on here so we can give them all the crap they'll deserve

  • i sure dont wanna go home,... Oh Hell Yeah

  • I think sir brian may do that on his guitar solo part

  • Great song, and marvellous Brian May's voice!!!

  • One of the wierdest album covers ever.

  • @Mr1FineDay that cover was actually the cover of some sci-fi comic book in the 1950's. The band members replaced the original characters falling from the monsters hand.

  • i love this song and Dr. Brian May is Brilliant !!!

  • Comment removed

  • brian may!! brilliant!

  • @cdw2112 you suck fuck you nerd metal kid, you can't understand old school blues rock

  • @cdw2112 hey... you really wanna know what sucks?.... you and.... well, you. piss off.

  • Queen have done, and mastered, ALL styles of music!

Rock, blues, faux opera, pop, disco, speed metal, jazz, music hall, vaudeville... the list goes on!

    Best band ever!!!!!!!

  • I ALWAYS LOVED THIS TRACK!!!!

  • Brian May on vocals. One-take jam track.

  • I drummed this so many times in the basement by ear on my shit drums !

  • The discussion about May singing in an American accent, and referencing "buck" instead of "pounds" is really superfluous.

All the English rockers used Americanisms, because blues is an American form of music.

  • It's my favorite too =D

  • That's my favorite album of Queen. That track is one of the eleven reasons.

  • If you enjoy this song, look up "Hey Baby" by Ted Nugent!! Similar is style and a fun song!

  • I love it!!!!

  • Clear. You have score of minus 4....

What did you say to deserve that?

    And who are they?

They don't know Queen, they cannot possibly understand.

  • This sounds an awful lot like the Grand Funk Song "Time Machine". Great minds think alike I suppose! I love both records by the way.

  • Spent many a summer listening to this album back in the day. Sadly, fire consumed all... Long live You Tube & Queen!

  • Sounds more like Bad Company/early Steve Miller to me than Clapton but still one of the best songs ever..

  • Clapton?

  • really, really, really, really love this album

  • hell yea top notch blues by queen

  • Doesnt sound like practice. Sounds like the real thing

  • BTW, Brian May does the vocals in this song. This song was also recorded in one take. Thats amazing!

  • ...and they didn't know they were being recorder either...I think Brian May is the best..

  • One of the best blues songs ever!

  • Queen really are just brilliant.

  • Wow, they must've spent a lot of time in America. Check out all the "All-American" phrases in this song: There ain't nobody wants to know; Are you playin'; An' I owe the man a million bucks a year.

I also love the line: So I told 'em where to stick the fancy label. XD

  • Good observations Kakuoteyalu.

  • Why, thank you ReneeNme.

  • Sometimes when you're not aware of the recording it is more "spontaneous"

    They always sound GREAT!!!

    No matter what!!!

  • Queen can play any style of music they want to. They aare truly the most diverse band in rock history.

  • true my friend:))AMEN!!

  • @RPGcollector1980 EXACTLY. WELL SAID.

  • I love this song it reminds when I was living in New Orleans when I was a city boy and trumphet was my only toy

  • Sleeping On The Sidewalk", written and sung by May, was inspired by Eric Clapton. It was recorded in one take. Lyrically, it deals with an aspiring trumpet player's career, delivered in a "rags-to-riches" fashion. May sings with an American accent, providing some near-authentic blues credibility to the jam, and measures the aforementioned trumpet player's success by "bucks" (as opposed to pounds)

  • I had this album on 8-track

  • Glad to see you understand how Wikipedia works sciuto01. Now do Celestial Navigation.

  • AMAZING! I am going to LEGO up this vid! Check it out! Thanks for the upload!

  • how dare you!

  • Blues isn´t for stupid people, like you.

  • what are you?

you're a good SON from MTV.

  • Brian May is a great song composer.

He wrote a good load of my favourite Queen songs. Also one of my favourites from News of the World.

  • Same :)

  • sweetest sound of a guitar

  • This is a great track! Amazing that it was a one-take practice run.

  • Very Clapton-esque.

  • Yuhp! me too.. One of my favorite Queen tunes kind of bluesy. Very cool indeed! Reminds me of partying alot, and having goodtimes with old pals, back in the day.. Thanks for adding this song. peace.

  • one of my favorites songs! the starving artist!!!
