It does nothing to critique youth culture, it's just a long throwaway gag, one that would've been dated 2 years ago.

But just like stephen puts on the suit of a nationalist republican to critique their beliefs by acting a fool, they adorn hipster uniforms and make fools out of themselves: cant dance, melodramatic, akwardly dressed, absurd lyrics, flying through the air for NO REASON, etc.
