I'm starting to have trouble seeing because of my droopy lids but I watched a video of the procedure and it looks painful!! Do all doctors do the procedure while the patient is awake? I'd love to have the surgery for both cosmetic and practical reasons.
@fpsurgeon Phew! That's good to know! I've always had the hooded eyelids, some would say bedroom eyes, but now that I'm getting older it's just ridiculous!, I'm having trouble even reading!
@sheyna1 At 44, I doubt it. (But sun and cigs will speed up the aging process in a hurry). :-)
BTW, pain afterwards is usually minimal for most patients, too. Most of mine will take Tylenol or nothing (though I prescribe a mild narcotic if they'd like).
@fpsurgeon I only have problems with my eyes, the rest of my face.., even my body, looks fine, even young for my age. I think maybe because my eyes are naturally hooded they drooped prematurely? Who knows, I'm actually going through menopause already......, I don't think I can blame that on tanning or smoking, lol
My upper eyelids are like that. It looks so terrible and it makes eyeshadow a real challenge. It costs like $4000 to have it done though. Way too expensive for me :(
I don't have any problems with bags under my eyes, but do have some issues with my upper eyelids. I'm in my late 20's though. Is that too young to get blepharoplasty? Or should I get an eyebrow lift?
Blepharoplasty in young patients is usually only indicated for significant cases of blepharochalasis, a chronic condition of swelling of the eyelids, as opposed to dermatochalasis, which is the age-related change of the eyelids. But the only way to tell for sure is through an in-office examination, of course.
Costs vary tremendously from surgeon to surgeon and city to city. However, it's generally one of the least expensive cosmetic surgical procedures. Our financial coordinator can give prospective patients an exact quote for us, though. Just call the office or email us. Contact info is on our website.

@sheyna1 No, they're not always done awake. Most of the time I do it with my patients under general anesthesia--asleep.
