No I don't know the details yet. There are in shipment and I should have both discs next week. The label on Amazon is listed as "Fab Distribution", which I believe will just be the Canadian (my home) release label, so I don't know at this point what the parent label or edition is.
This stuff has just been re-released on CD (Feb 2012). You can buy the first two albums today on Amazon. I think this will break big (in a small way) with the re-release. Too bad Adrian is not around to see the accolades.
@theekrusher Do you know if they've been remastered or contain any bonus tracks? I've got the Renascent releases but just wondering if it'd be worth buying them again
The release arrived. No idea if it is "remastered". The label is "1972" and is a US printing. Sound quality is fantastic. Been spinning nothing but the sound for a couple days now. Wow...........so fucking good!

@dklustick yep you have to get a licsence mate. from the owner of the copyright more than likley the lable they were on. find the office number and ask them someone will point you in the right direction. if you owned a bar for example you would have to apply for a music licsence (in court) which would give you a blanket cover for all music played. but even then court cases have happened. but as a amature film maker i think they may give you a break.
This is so great ! I have been lucky enough to see them playing live once when they where performing in Spuugh Vaals in Holland back in the 80's. Now almost 30 years later this song has not lost one bit of it's magic it had back then.........
Le sound.... Un amour de jeunesse. Peut-être le meilleur groupe new-wave que j'ai jamais entendu... Je me rappelle avoir couru chez "New Rose" quand il est sorti! Fabuleux, magique, mystique... Des guitares évanescentes, une voix complètement désincarnée qui m'as sorti les tripes du bide... Waouhh! Ce groupe, et les Chaméléons et Comsat Angels.... Le bonheur!!
Always amazing to see that when it concerns the Sound some Joy Division- devotees have the uncontrollable need to creep out of there holes nagging that JD was so much better. Pathetic.
I'm sorry but this sounds like 3rd division Bunnymen. Back in the day I had as many obscure records (Wah Heat included) and saw as many of the whole L'pool/Manchester Bunnies/Teardrop Explodes/Fall type bands and this one escaped me completely. Now I see why.
@YOYOdaMOOSE Better than Heaven Up Here? To each his own. The problem I have with the Sound is the lead singer can't actually sing. Then again neither could Bob Dylan and that never stopped him.
the lead singer for the sound is awesome, guess thats kinda personal preference i suppose... heaven up here is awesome but from the lion's mouth is better
@YOYOdaMOOSE Just your opinion but whatever, dude. Doesn't change the fact Ian's vocals are majestic as well as the shards of guitar Will lays down. The Sound after hearing some of these videos I get why they never got big. Sorry, they just are not that good. Anyway, not into old crap at all in 2011 but just some Danish dude was raving about them. Don't get it. I think I'll stick with the Raveonettes in 2011 rather than going back to listen to stuff like this.
@BiffScooter1 Excellent reply but they do gain bonus pts for stage presence over "did he move, no, that was just the stage light catching him" Adrian--the dead Ian for being a spastic and the baggy Ian for being a personification of the dancin' by shufflin' your feet around while wearing '80s raver clothes.

My favorite song from one of the best albums from the eighties. From the lion's mouth, Comsat Angels' Fiction and U2's October were by far my favorite albums around that time. Hearing just one second of any of those songs brings me back to that time immediately... Echo's Porcupine was added to the mix later. Great times.

@sponooch I spotted Adrian Borland in the Marquee Club once and bought him a beer. I have never know anyone be so pleased / embarrased at being recognised, a really nice bloke. I've always wondered how successful The Sound might have been if Adrian had looked like, say, Simon Le Bon???
@ianseddon1976 TRUE. I've wondered that myself. Guys were (and still are) pushed much harder if they're attractive. Sad, but true. And the same thing happens to women. It's a terrible world.
Yet another theme song for my life. 1. Strange Day, Pictures of You or Just Like Heaven (The Cure) 2.Love will tear us apart (Joy Division) 3. New Dawn Fades (Moby version of Joy Division) 4. Creep (Radiohead) 5. Anzol (Radio Macau)(portuguese) 6. Cranberries 7. Forever young (Youth Group version of Alpahville) 8. Dive (Nirvana) 9. Today (Smashing Pumpkins) 10. Jeremy (Peral Jam) 11. Cahos AD (Sepultura) 12. Bulls on parade (RATM) 13. His song (Cowboy Junkies)
my cousin Neil grew up in this era, went to manchester university during the 80's, and got me into this type of music. This was his favourite band, along with joy division and the chameleons
He only commited suicide because he was really sick, unlike most musicians who do it out of pressure or some egotistical thing etc. I've actually know people who are so sick, they wish they could just die. Sick as in fucked in the head or having bodily injuries and diseases.
probably most UNDER rated band ever, lucky enough i saw them six time live, they always gave there best, outstanding band.nice to know the younger generation recognise them
Well perhaps, or The Chameleons they get my vote.Did see The Sound live at Hammersmith Odeon in Nov.'85.Still got the ticket!!!'
This trip also included seeing Vince Hilaire for the first time an old hero of mine.Playing for Pompey away vs.Spurs in a League Cup game. And for the first time see my beloved (well they were in those days)Chelsea vs.Villa in the 1st winning 2-1 Speedie&Dixon scoring for Chels. The crowd was 17500!
just checked on their site, i can't believe they're out of stock they used to have all the albums. You should email them to ask when they'll be on sale again. Otherwise i'm keen to send you copys even if it's better to have originals, let me know

@ianseddon1976 After a concert in Haarlem i met him at the bar and he WAS a really nice person to talk to. Fuck Simon Le Bon, he`s ugly within

@ianseddon1976 TRUE. I've wondered that myself. Guys were (and still are) pushed much harder if they're attractive. Sad, but true. And the same thing happens to women. It's a terrible world.

I recently discovered the sound while i was researching more punk bands to listen to. Sadly I just discovered that Adrian Borland committed suicide :(
I think the greatest legacy a human being can leave behind is their amazing music.

He's great, I love this band. But, I don't blame him for killing himself. Depression, it's a funny animal.

my cousin Neil grew up in this era, went to manchester university during the 80's, and got me into this type of music.
