I know history has done some wrong things to black folks, but they're not the only ones! And here we are in 2007 living in America - together. We all know that history of our country has not treated blacks and whites equally. But I'm trying to have a vision for the future, a vision for our country where we eventually are all equal. How can that happen if any major group (be they blacks, hispanics, whites, Asians, whatever) decides that the only justice is the justice of the streets. I think that attitude will only drive us farther apart. Don't you? I'm trying to close the gap.
So how do we constructively close the gap, and get everyone to participate in society? Many police departments (that I know of) are pretty well equally divided now in terms of black and white officers. Are you advocating it's the laws that need to be changed? If so, which ones? I don't think it's anyones best interest to promote our citizens to bring our system of laws back to the wild west.
Call me idealistic, but I do believe and have hope that America can live up to the greatness of our "melting pot" origins. Our history hasn't been angelic, but we are one of the most diverse nations on the planet, and I think this is a good thing. Most of the people who are here now want to be. What Bush has done in the past couple years has been depressing imho, but I think Barack can get us back on track. Still, thats on a national level.
I think many of the changes still need to take place locally. So that brings us back to the question at hand: What changes need to be made for everyone to feel like they can and should be a participant in society???
I believe only a act of GOD can truely bring us together!! So much damage has been done and it runs so deep in both the black and white communities. All we can do at this time is to keep chipping away.

Honestly I am a Priest in the name of the most High!!I hear many things and know many things that are private. There is very little confidence in the US justice system. I do belive that God has a greater justice system and everyone will meet their justice. In a place where at one time I was 4/5's of a man. I don't trust the law or laws as they were are still tainted!! There is also a justice system on the srteets and in jail. I also don't believe in accidents..what will be will be.

Remember, respect works both ways.I spent many years as a cop & know some abuse their baqdge. But the good ones FAR outweigh them. My dad's ancestry is Cherokee Indian. U think U guys were screwed? ha. ha. Rap artists have lost 4 of their own to murder and no one was man enough to bear witness because of their profit margin vs dignity.I know some snitches only do it cause it keeps heat from them, but seeing a capital crime and not bringing them to justice is a mortal sin.

Thanks for the reply. They are allowing the "Man" to do it, thereby letting themselves be used. Most of them are already millionaires, so why be greedy? Spent right and wisely, 1 mil can last a lifetime. I can't change the past, so I don't bother meddling over it. This is now and our kid's future.
