  • um, you guys just nailed one of the most difficult bits o music ever.hate to say it , but that was better than Bruford. I like drummers

  • pretty good for a bunch of nips and yes just like spinal tap crimson is huge in japan!

  • Here we got Bill Bruford's daughter!

  • Fripp should sack the rest of his band and hire these guys!

  • well done !

  • I have had this song playing in my head at times for years, now I remember where it came from!

  • That was quite awesome.

  • that was amazing, especially drums and bass!

  • 100 times better than dream theater cover

  • gr8

  • Children love their music, too. At least both of my sons and now my grandson do.

  • Proof that good music break all nationality, religion, culture barriers, good job guys

And excuse if my english suck a little :P

  • nice job very nice

  • really great job, and the guitarist has the glasses like robert fripp!!!

  • 110%

    Thanks for posting this vid.

  • Superb devotion to this musical idea...and a stool for leverage!

  • awesome job dudes!

  • Aw man, the drummer had the whistle and everything, I officially love this cover the most of any KC cover out there!

  • wow! Excellent!

  • congratulations from Spain,amazing cover

  • OK .Good music.Placka

  • This may be the best cover of a song I've ever seen/heard - period!

  • i had to have a few looks. superb cover, very close to the kc studio version. the japanese are amazing at replicating things and have some of the finest tribute acts in the world, although i have heard their pavarotti isn't all that.

  • This is great copy work of the band. Great imitation. These guys are great!

  • I love the guitar's fuzz. And I'm very proud of the bassist providing that typical KC major 3rd harmony as in the recording at 0:37. :)

  • This Japanese trio not only had the courage to play one of KC's masterpieces but also had their drummer not to limit himself to immitate Bill Bruford but to play in his own style. He could easily have had a seat on the original KC if he ever had crossed with Fripp. I will definitely check for more videos on this band.

  • jajaja el guitarrista imitando a Fripp xD tocando sentao y volas

  • Rock solid. The drummer is amazing. I love the sound of his drums and cymbals and his choice of fills was brilliant. I saw earlier in the thread that his name is Masuhiro Goto and the band is Ningen Isu. I'll definitely check out their other vids.

  • Great cover, guys.

  • Perfecta copìa, los tres geniales. ¿No tenéis alguna versión de los Crimson de los 80?

  • exelente el baterista !!!!

  • All the notes are right, and played accurately... but everything else is missing.

  • awesome.

  • i play my bass sitting down and donning a suit on gigs. This was a DIRECT Fripp influence on me. That and i play the bass in a very unorthodox way. John Wetton was agenius on bass though. This song is proof... He proves that the Bass is a melodic, singing instrument, not a groove-maker.

  • can be both

  • A bit mid rangey for me.

Lark's was all about the "resistance" going on. That's why it is the prehistory of grunge etc.

This is probably how the asian ear likes it.

The tonal qualty of a language "tunes" the ear for forms. A tonal language having a different series of stresses than, say, English.

Nice choice of cover, though, and respect for their direction. Do THEY write?

    Thumbs up!

  • God I love this song. It's probably been said but they ain't Japanese lol.

  • respect! pretty damn tight!

  • Robert Fripp played sitting down on the original album tour.

Big applause to this band, this song is a symphonic composition and you performed it flawlessly. And the video sound quality is better than any other recording here. My best kudos.

  • Heh.. he probably was sitting because Fripp never stood up ...

  • RESPECT, man!

This is the Mr. Frip Style.

Very cool job, from one of my fv tunes ever.

    !!Domo Arigato Gomaizu!!

  • These guys are great. I have to see where they're at today. Not to lessen the guitars. The drummer is amazing.

  • Great! I love the whistle, fine detail. If I wanted to be really fussy, I could say that the guitar has a too short decay, maybe it's the SG in comparison with Fripp's Les Paul.

  • Best cover :P

  • Great musicianship

  • wow amazing musicians here

  • What an amazing song. Great cover version. Love the ending.

  • what about One More Red Nightmare?? :o)

  • Beautifully done!

  • Seems like the Japanese are really big fans of King Crimson. That's awesome to see.

  • That might have something to do with the fact that Hiroshima and Nagasaki had a very powerful influence on Robert Fripp's artistic consciousness.

  • @seekthetruth77 japanese are fanatic about everything

  • 3:42 :D

  • The Crimson's Spirit, over the world. Great...

  • nice cover!

  • great!

  • that left my goddamned pants moist...one of the more staggering compositions in 20th century music. thanks for playing it like badasses, you beautiful Japs!!!

  • how easy is to play with only the BASIC musical instruments a very complicated song...especially if u use all of them in the right proportions(check out how nice the bass sounds!!!!!).....Congratulations dudes!!!!FUCKING AMAZING!!!

  • Whats the names of this band/musicians?

  • King Crimson, and you might find it interesting that the sound was recorded in 1973

  • hey there, this band is called Ningen Isu. they're a japanese prog-rock/heavy metal jap-folklore influenced band. they've got lots of other vids on youtube. check out their cover of 21st century schizoid man and one of their original compositions - Heavy Metal no Gyakushu ( which also leads into a cover of 21st century s.m. lol )

  • excelent is amazing

  • This is so far the best cover of this song i have heard. And i am drunk on haloween!!!

  • Nice cover

    They really love KING CRIMSON

  • Look. it's a Japanese version of RObert Fripp... or should i say ロバート フリップ san? LOL

  • Comment removed

  • Superb!

  • Excellent job!! You captured KC's soul

  • Bom pra caralho !

  • OMG! These guys are great. Need to hear/see more of them. Unbelievable.

  • Flawless. We should hope to have a band in the USA that can play Crimson to this level.

  • Amazing

  • I can´t believe it. They are PERFECT!!!

  • WooooooW!

  • Yeah!

  • Damn!! This sounds like vintage K.C. in '73 or '74!! Is that Fripp w/ John Wetton & Bill Bruford in disguise?? I have to hear more of these guys!

  • AMESOME!!! DOMO ORIGATO!!

  • awesome job!!

this one of my fave songs!

  • And I should add, this is actually not an easy song to play. It can throw you off

  • These guys have it down pat

  • Man, japanese people sure love King crimson

  • masuhiro goto is a monster. on the gerard albums he rips like a kamikaze on the drums!

  • very good

  • ALmost note-for-note from the album, very very nice cover from some exceptionally talented people. I played bass in covering this song and it is not a joke to keep it all together. And I had a five piece band (we added keys and a second guitar); these boys pull it off beautifully with a trio! Tres Bonne!

  • good work guys, keep it up

  • irashai...totemo oishiiiiii.sumimasen..

    mihinotori...

  • Wow!

  • chingon

  • Nice scratchy guitar tone, awesome drummer & bassist. Domo arigato.

  • wow, really good verion, how arent these guys signed?

  • ok im confused here...their guitarist (the sitting fripp guy with glasses) isnt playing with any overdrive on meaty sections of the song. it makes the whole thing sound thinner than a 1 dollar bill. the bass is pretty much on par...drums....well. but the guitar is what gets me. its a great performance but the guitar tone just disturbs me. please feel free to hop on my ass and bitch. im a bass player anyways.

mad props to all that try this song.

    darren

  • Seing how it is difficult to bring such a Crimson piece to an accurate result, I would not even dare to speak about energy. They manage to keep intact the spirit of this great composition. Respects Japanese friends !

  • Does anyone know the name of the band..?

  • ningen-isu(meaning human chair)

  • Its notationally accurate,...but very such low energy there. The last time I saw King Crimson perform this piece, it was musical violence that would put any metal band to shame... they ripped the audience's heads clean off....

  • A College gym floor in montreal I sat in 1970 and watched in aw King Crimson. Better than their studio records. Thanks for this great rendition of one of my favs. Good job, sweet drums and bass, always a KC magic was their percussion. Yes and timing

  • Every time I check out the KC postings ,I watch this video. Very talented guys. I'd love to see what they can do with "Red ". Awesome !!

  • staggering..

  • What can I say .. I fripped out! `been telling that joke for 30 years too. Extremely tight. I like the way the guitarist was seated, and with glasses no less. I miss Bruford's trademark jumpsuit but this drummer is astoundingly talented. The bassist hit the harmonics just right. I barely noticed the lack of violin but would love to see one of their caliber added. Guitar was eerily true to form. A great performance and a fitting tribute. I want more!

  • i wouldn't like to smell that drummer's armpits... he's got a friggin jacket on...

  • Absolutely smoking. Really great drummer as mentioned before.

  • all the great young violinists from japan....recruit one! you guys are amazing...just ruined my sleep

  • Bom pra caralho !

  • I'm sure Mr. Fripp would be very flattered by this impressive tribute. It's great to see young bands, of any nationality carry on the great progressive music of the 70's. Did I say this drummer is smokin'?

  • Could someone tell me fingering for intro? (just the chord) i've been tryin to play this and just can't get it right+ I've seen Fripp playing this with different fingerings, of which none seems to sound right when i try it. Thx for any tip!

  • looks like...first finger Bb ...second G...third F...fourth B if it isn't right on it you are right next to it...let me know

  • I've always used C-F-Bb (5th, 4th and 3rd strings, respectively).

  • muy bueno, suena genial!!! hacen canciones propias?

  • never mark my words park tonsun quite, just straight forward i love it. omg he thinks we are something that we are not, bt we sit and talk, let him know.

  • Great rendition, I love it!!! Domo arigato.

  • Sounds like a modern-day Byo Ko Ran (who did a ripping version of Great Deceiver in late 70s). Why is it only Japanese bands are the only ones carrying forward the great tunes of Crimson 69-73? Faithfully covered, Muir whistle and all. This clip has more hits than Crimson's 72 TV performance of LTIA.

  • The band is Ningen-Isu, Japanese hard-rock band with gothic/progressive twist since '90s. They changed drummers time after time, and the drummer playing here seems Masuhiro Goto (who also plays several Japanese prog bands).

  • There's no way the drummer is a woman....

  • What's the drummer's name?

  • His name is Masuhiro Goto.

  • > Note for note but rather leaden

    Exactly!

  • What's the name of the band?

  • Note for note but rather leaden.

  • exactly!

  • Great, concise rendition of a classic instrumental. You sure the drummer is a woman?

  • I notice that the drummer is female. She is a "Billie Bruford", should I say. Flawless. Captivating. Thank you, guys! I am someone from 1969 (I wish I was born 1969). Completely awesome. I wish I could write something in Japanese to say something in gratitude for their work. No words to describe it. Thanks a million!

  • Wow! The Drummer executed both Bruford's drumming & Muir's all-sorts...lol, single-handedly...

    Slick work...

Sounds almost identical to a few of the live performances I've actually seen..

No violinist , but hey very close..

    Great work

  • A frighteningly faithful, spot-on cover.

  • that was amazing - awesome cover. the drummer was crazy.

  • Fantastic!

  • I saw Crimson many times in the early 1970's this is great to see other young dudes digging it, especially over in Japan! Domo Arrigato!

  • Excellent! My quartet is attempting this tune.

  • I loved that Video! Those guys can play that music like it should be played! I've seen King Crimson 6xs, but still enjoyed that!

  • BRAVISSIMI !!!!

  • The guitarist looks disturbingly like the drummer from Ruins

  • omfg awesome!

    good job!

  • Wot's theyr'e own stuff like ? Bet it's quite interesting given the influenzes .

  • Great job! very true to the original with your own flair....I may be greedy but would love to see another version with a violinst added. Thanks for a terrific upload!

  • Drummer reminds me of Danny Carey...which is sweet

  • Also kinda reminds me of Bozzio - especially the china/double kick stuff. He's a fantastic drummer.

  • from an old King Crimson fan....you guys are very good. Thank you for playing this music.

  • Awesome! Tight as a duck's behind. The drummer is red hot.

  • yeah!

    these cats smoke!!

    monty wolf

  • real nice job. couldn't pull myself away.

  • Killer! These guys are air tight...almost perfect version. I don't know if the poster is a bandmember or not, but if so, congrats, kudos, and give us more. :-)

  • incredible work!!!!

  • I want to know what band this is. It may have some members of Tipographica. I must know.

  • wow....nice job,guys.

The drummer reminds me of Bruford and Bozzio.

I dig how the guitarist sits while he plays_ala Robert Fripp_.Excellent bass playing. Good luck with your band!

  • flawless! amazing cover

  • Pretty good, sounds almost exactly like the studio version, except some guitar stuff which makes it slightly annoying
