My grandparents are extremely close friends with him, known him since he was in go-karts. They took me to PIR on '04 when I was 10 years old and Jimmy randomly out of no-where said to his crew, "Put the kid in the car." My grandma was slightly worried ya know cause of the price of those cars. we talked with him for a while.
BTW, Gil de Ferren retired because he was tired of breaking his back in the IRL Crapwagons. Also hated running an all oval scheduale (when it was all oval at the time)
Open wheel drivers...They retire so soon these days, don't they? Here's a man, a proven champion, only 40 years old, quitting racing while he still is very competitive on the track. No career-ending injury, no trouble finding a ride. Sure, he has a management position at PKV, but still, drivers have been successful on both sides of the wall in the past. I couldn't understand why Gil de Ferran left so soon, either.
Hey fishflake....why the negativity? Why not just respect the guy for what he has accomplished and who he is as a person? Jimmy is probbably the most respected name in Champ Car right now and arguably the most honest, approachable, down to earth WORLD CHAMPION that has ever been. The lack of understanding that you clearly admit to, as well as your ignorance of his position at PKV (he is a co-owner...hence the "V") speaks for itself. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about.
JV is a good one on and off track..
he is one of the old racers..fast smart and focused..
