  • Conrad lives in my town, Bozeman MT

  • he was a demigod of modern history

  • he was a demigod of modern history

    ....

  • Having seen some photos from 1924 and more recently where snow has piled up against the west side of thepillar at 2nd step it is possible Mallory climbed the snow with his axe (Irvine left his below believing he didn't need it) and then threw a rope down and pulled Andrew up. Odell said he saw one on the ridge above he rock and then a second after that so we know they got up - but did they get to the top?

Dig down on the summit and see if you can locate an old photo, is that possble?

  • @daggyz1959, why don´t you go up there and tell us how the digging was, when back down? seriously, this kind of stupidity makes me want to send some serious cookies straight into your dome! please use your brain! the picture was blown away by the wind, and is laying somewhere on that mountain. can you please digg the whole mountain up?

  • What I need is a website detailing the photos of the bodies with what happened. For example if you go on google and type everest bodies you can see pics of peoples skulls.

  • Mallory is one of the greatest alpinist of all time....too bad Everest has become the rich mans play ground...theyre not only littering the mtn with the remains of morons but also all the equipment that is left behind....so sad!

  • Mallory probably made it alone. There's a massive 40ft wall at the end of Step 2 that a single human would not be able to climb up, but would be able to if he stood on the shoulder of another. I think Irvine helped Mallory up, then waited for the great man to return. But once he summited by late afternoon Mallory decided to take a different, safer route back and somehow fell. Poor Irvine waited and finally tried to find his way back to camp, before getting lost in the dark and collapsing.

  • Жесть(((

  • and the camera from Mallory Irvine have not found. (??!) I think Mallory / Irvine have been murdered by Noel Odell.

Noel Odell was the last of which has both seen alive on the mountain.

Odell and his life was convinced that Mallory had made it highly likely the increase to the peak and thus before the officially recognized first ascent 1953rd

Moreover, the breach of Mallory not officially assigned to be a fall from the mountain!

  • Those two were one hell of a team, I hope Irvine's body is found some day so we'll have the whole story, and a film based on it would be really compelling.

  • Too bad that are crashed

    They were the best climber

  • lol

  • Can anybody tell me; from what documentary is this? This was from that BBC documentary about that 1999 mission, right?

  • @radmac76 i saw this doc back in the day and i'm still trying to know how its name was, itis the greatest doc i've ever seen.

  • Did Mallory and Irvine summit Mount Everest?

  • @TheWhitehall Nobody knows if they really got to the summit.

  • @gyllback I think if Mallory reached the summit then he fell down and he died, experts says that he couldn't do the final meters because they are very hard even today, but he was a genius.

  • @TheWhitehall Should the body of Andrew Irvine ever be found, his camera [if in tact] may contain photograhic evidence of a summit achievement. If indeed they made it.

  • с 1924 года лежит тело, хоть бы хрен ему....

  • remember i climbed everest in 2005 ruined my airmax and ther fuck all up there, found an old body and a wallet with a guy called irvine i burnt it to keep warm,

  • @relmmih6 dude dont joke about that. They were brave men. If you seriously did burn Irvine's wallet, you are a complete dumbass.

  • @relmmih6 if you did find his body though you made a great discovery. Where was it.

  • Ужас.

  • looks like a good place to hide a murdered body

  • @cocomonkey00 hahaha

  • How far was his fall? Anyone remember...

  • man i want his boot

  • OMFG this is so impressive!!..we are watching the corpse of a hero in the same place and position and wearing the same clothing the same day he died.

  • this video isnt complete, is there any link to the full video?

  • Are you an idiot the reason he's talking like that . He's at the top of the world with no oxygen . He's literally dying at that altitude, alot of people die on top of mount everest. You only have a few minutes to stay there before you have to come down.

  • how do they know thats Mallory?

  • @sonjaxfactor The clothes on the body had Mallory's name sewed on.

  • God thats just amazing. What it would have been like to find the father of everest after all those years. How the hell did the stumble upon him with so much to search..And what about irvine..cant be far from mallory right?

  • all my respect to George Mallory and Andrew Irvine, who are to me, the real conquerors of chomolungma <3

(PS: i cant stand the voice of the man speaking, man it's so annoying!!)

  • I recently read J. Archer's Paths to Glory. I'm not a mountaineer but I was awed by their courage and resolve. May they rest in peace. One day I hope Irvine will be found as well. I will continue to follow stories on Everest with silent respect to the brave people who treck this path.

  • A great great man. Who has a entire mountain as a headstone. Go with God

    George Mallory.

  • Theres like 100's of bodys on everest, its just scary

  • @TheCoastGuarder more than 200's...

  • @Cadistasiosi Youch

  • @TheCoastGuarder 213 bodies, found by now. And yes, it is scary.

  • @TheCoastGuarder

    No! It's fucked up!!

  • I appreciate that Mallory's remains were treated with respect (and do believe that they were).

  • I've just finished reading the official Mallory Irvine Expedition book and wanted to say thank you to all the committed historians/mountain climbers that helped tell the tale of these heros. I really enjoyed the book. Fascinating insight into why people love history (the mystery). Thanks again guys and congratulations on the find. It was more than just luck, it was sheer bloody hard work so thanks

  • don't you just want to touch this pale smooth skin or i'm just sick ?

  • its probably all hard and gross and shit

  • loxinder - wow, his skin has the look (and I'm SURE, the feel) of fine porcelain. No, I don't think wanting to touch someone that has died is morbid or macabre, I rather see it as releasing that person's soul. Poor man, RIP. 3:44 am Feb. 21 2010

  • do you really belive that shit about killing? IT IS THE MOUNTAIN! another laws. The nature laws! don't be a fool.

  • Does anyone know the name of this documentary?

  • We shall not bring back a single bit of gold or silver, not a gem, nor any coal or iron. We shall not find a single foot of earth that can be planted with crops to raise food. Its no use. So, if you cannot understand that there is something in man which responds to the challenge of this mountain and goes out to meet it, that the struggle is the struggle of life itself upward and forever upward, then you wont see why we go.

    George Herbert Leigh Mallory

  • So how do you explain Irvine's axe being found 300m above this site?

  • Also how did Mallory end up in a classic self-arrest position, with his broken leg crossed over the good one to relieve pain and keep it out of the way when he tried to toe-in?

Also, no real hill is there to speak of. Mallory's body was found at the base of a face, covered in shale scree.

  • They should find Irvine as well. Saw this documentary a few years ago, watched it again tonight. I think Irvine and Mallory would want their story to be told. They are part of British exploration history and these guys should be remembered.

  • Both of his legs are broken, huh? Ugh. Poor guy.

  • A lot of people including Sir Edmund Hillary found theses pictures and videos extremely disgusting and reprehensible . He was on that mountain for 75 years undisturbed until these characters found him and shamelessly put him on display for their own benefit . His children and grandchildren were outraged by this desecration of the remains of a great man . I personally think his family alone had the right to decide what to do with those pictures and his belongings . Chomolungma is his FOREVER

  • Actually if you read the book "Ghosts of Everest", Mallory's daughter says the exact opposite.

  • They found him in 1999, not 2004. Crazy, though, how the cold and altitude prevent decomposition like that. And check out his right leg -- no way could he have made it off the mountain like that.

  • Is his head buried or gone? Can't really tell from the shots....

  • His head is buried

  • Why do u want to climp up the Everest?

    Mallory: "Because it's there."

  • I think he did it.He was the first on the Top of the Everest, not Hillary.

  • Why didnt they show his face? Why didnt they remove all the crap from him so that we could have seen his body properly??

And it was really idiotic to burn his body right after, they should have taken it to Britain, where they could have researched it properly.

  • coz its disrespectful you idiot.

  • They did not burn his body. There's not enough oxygen up there to sustain much of a fire, and they'd have to have carried up fuel. Besides, his body is frozen solid and has been for decades. They buried him in scree and erected a small cairn with a memorial.

  • Well, I guess there was still a chance of him being found alive, so they had to go looking for him....

  • lol he died in 1924...

  • They don't know that for sure, he might've had enough supplies with him... ;o)

  • So your saying that a man who went missing in 1924 could still be alive by 2004 (thats when they found the remains). Thats a 70 odd year gap. lol you must be an idot to think he could still be alive from 1924 to 2004.

  • Christ on a bike, if you can't tell when someone's joking, you gotta get yourself a sense of homour inplant mate! Have a nice day...

  • I have one. But you didnt not make that look like a joke..mate.

  • Really. 'He died in 1924', 'He might've had enough supplies with him...;o) - I think you're possibly the only person in the world who couldn't tell this was a joke. Sure, he just might've had 75 years worth of supplies with him!! Once again, have a nice day, mate...

  • And ithink your the only person in the world whos an asshole twat. you aint funny :D

  • Heh, I get the joke, but I think the point was more to look for the camera, to see if any pictures from the summit are on it. Whether Mallory and Irvine made the summit is one of climbing's biggest mysteries, and Kodak said that if the camera is found and there are pictures, they could possibly still be developed.

  • At Least Mallory got a proper burial, lets all hope that Irvine is found one day and receives the same

  • He was one of the greatest alpinists who ever walked the earth and a pioneer of high-altitude climbing!

I hope someone finds Irvine one day. He should have a proper funeral at the mountain as well...

Rest in Peace G.L. Mallory and Andrew Irvine!

  • you are completly retarted!

where do you see no respect? his body is there and they found it!

  • Well... At the end they covered him up with rocks praying for him as they found out it was "holy mallory" ..

Now they accured to think it is Irvine so they don't make a big deal about it .. But then "OMG OMG OMG OMG its MALLORY!!!!"

  • Tsss, you are not better.
