  • " set Gravity to 0" - set it to about 0.5 - 2, Once i changed that i got results like in his images.

  • I'm wondering if the newer fume fx has different variables. I followed it to the letter, and mine is messed up in so many ways, looks nothing like yours. Oh well, good tutorial none the less.

  • Nice tutorial, my only crit is that the way the shader is set up it will only really render nicely on black background... But it's a good introduction. Thanks

  • FFS guys, try to mess around with the settings instead of blame it on him, it's a great tutorial, but I am a little more advanced in FumeFX, so I can't really use this, but I can see this is a great tutorial :)

  • Thanks for the tut, but... you forgot to mention what System Units are you using. My simulations looks like CRAP and I have the same settings.

  • hey, thanks for the tutorial.

  • thanks dude! finally my FumeFX got its use!! 10/10!

  • listen dude i tried doing the tutorial

and i got some kind of fire, but it was allmost tottaly white

  • @moshiko74

You need to go onto the redering options and tweak the fire and/or smoke colour options, if there is no change try the lighting, it could be the brightness or the falloff etc

  • that's a 3dtotal tutorial:) jaja:P

  • I change opacity smoke to 0.2 and i get better result but it isnt like your

  • After doing exactly as in the tutorial I get just a white flame thingy. I'm using FumeFX 2.0 and Max 2011.

I'm trying to figure out what's causing it to be just white, but FumeFX is causing Max to be very unresponsive :(

  • @Skelet0rs I seem to have solved the problem. The lights intensity has to be quite low. (0.3 or so)

Turning off the viewport display off makes Max much more responsive as well

  • @Skelet0rs

Same as moshiko74 check the redering options for the smoke and fire, remember lighting is an important factor as well

  • Your tutorial does NOT match with the example given here.

It's not even similiar, it looks like bullshit.

Default lights don't include shadows, and the smoke opacity is WAY to high.

There are 2 ways to explain this:

    1. You are too dumb to make a proper tutorial

    2. You haven't made this render

  • @DeAdLyMuRdEr - dude.....others did get similar results.....just becoz ur not smart enough to follow a basic tutorial.....doesnt mean i cant write one.....

  • @shikav4

    becoz?

    ur?

  • give me the site to download this things plllllease

  • Well, the result was nothing like this.

Turning the smokes density to 20 made it look like glitched cotton.

  • very nice result, i like it

  • same

  • well mine doesnt look like this one :/ guess im doing something wrong... dunno

  • I folowed this tutorial to the letter....the only problem I'm having is that I can use anything but text...When I make some text and extrude it and try the same thing it doesn't work...any idea why?

  • i guess u have to add Turn to Mesh modifier.

  • tried turning it to an editable poly..but I'll try this too...thanks.

  • where can i get fume FX?

i mean... I made the sphere but... what is supose to do next?

  • Um you buy it.

  • how to create vdo ? I followed tutorials .. after rendering how to make animated vdo like this ?

  • im having troubles with the smoke it keeps trapped inside the FFX gizmo i added the object as the source etc etc but the smoke stays trapped inside the gizmo of the FFX how to i fix this?

  • I get to the part where I have to pick the object, and from there it just deselects the box and selects to the sphere. What am I doing wrong?

  • You have to click the Pick Object button then select the object. Are u doing it right??.....if that doesnt work click the pick button and then press H (or i guess Cntrl+H........dont remember which one it was). That will open a list of all objects in ur scene and then select the sphere.

  • I was playing around with a different tutorial and it taught me how to do it, thanks anyway.

  • Strangely ... exactly the same lessons I have seen a number of sites, so that your results yavlyaetsya plagiarism

  • Dude i was the 1st one to post a fume fx tut on the net........many have copied my tut n results.......

  • Then I apologize ....

  • LMAO i believe he means 0.2 for the smoke spinner lol.. i did it once, worked perfectly.. BUT ive tried about another 5 times to do this tutorial and i got get a good result?1?!?!

  • I am having trouble with this. The effect looks awesome on my side, but the fire seems to level off and stop moving at a certain point where the gizmo is about. I've tried scaling it and that doesn't help. Any ideas?

  • Thx alot for the tutorial. Hopefully you find the time to do some more ;)

  • it looks amazing on preview, but when a render it with default render, looks a pice of shit haha please help me! What´s render that I must use?

  • hey i've used the default scanline render. maybe u need towork on the rendering settings in the Fume FX dialog.

  • hey my flame is in black/white. dammit this sucks what should i do?

  • same

  • same thing here dude, i havnt done this tutorial yet(i will though) but with the default tutorial of the cigarette smoke in FumeFX when i simulate in the FumeFX Output Preview it looks frigin awesome(without the objects just the smoke) n than when i go to render it just normal the smoke is barely noticeable!! Other renders don't look great either, much better in the preview!!! how do we fix this or what do we render with...

  • hey dude maybe your graphic card its not the best so you cant have a nice render. i had the same problem and them i change the graphic card and i had a great result. on other way you can use Final render stage 1 (or 2) to make that render, it will improve it

  • oh really? The graphics card? I got a 7900gt I thought most of 3D render depends the cpu and memory not the gpu. Does anyone here us a physx card must b pretty sweet n a lot quicker. Yeah I might try Final render see how that looks. (1-2)

  • the graphic card is lot of important, because if you dont have a good graphic you might not have a realistic 3D animation

  • I figured it out now, the illumination of the fire made the smoke yellow n look like a huge flame. i havnt tried the cigarette smoke but i have a suspicion that the lighting isnt right. simulation and render are 2 different things n u have to remember that so allways just do a quick render b4 u render ur animation

  • use a "day light" and choose white color, it works great

  • the tutorial says:

Set the Smoke Opacity Spinner to 20.0

  • I can't get it right...

  • Thanx for tutorial. Great job!

Could you make more tutorials for fumefx?

  • Press F9. Look out for my result from the tutorial soon.

  • i just did the same tut everything looks fine in the simulation but how can i render this in max ?

  • you can download it from cgheaven.n et

  • q stone !!

  • thanks so much for the tut shishir, it helped alot!

  • Shishir, nice tut you made. thanks a lot.

  • Looks like a very powerful and promising plugin from Sitni Sati. Still if-ing and err-ing over the 800 price tag.
