  • So nice memories here on this page :)) Hello Basil, I had to stop by again and enjoy this wonderful tune !!! Endless Stars ***********************++

  • @Banderuola66 Ah!! the old days... when we were so young....One of my first postings. Thanks for the memories.

  • What a voice!!! Had this on a lp many moons ago. Thanks for sharing.

  • The memories that come back, the soft vibraphone in the background, the voice, the simplicity of the song, the beauty of Helen's voice. I Love this song!!!!!

  • @rubbing2000 A favourite of LaVerne37, who has a good claim to Helen's biggest fan on YT.

  • She had such a "heavy" voice for such a small girl. She reminds me of Amy Winehouse, but of course, back in a time, when music was innocent.

  • @LaVerne37 This is fabulous! Thanks for sharing it with me dearie!

  • Comment removed

  • @LaVerne37 First thought was mild electric shocks, but I know it's because he's a Helen fan.

  • @LaVerne37 With wig or without ?

  • Sir Basilde, your texan friend told me to listen to this one.

Man oh man he has a good taste.

    I adore it.

Thanks my friend. Great upload !!!!

  • you DID sign over the rights for me to play this at the Texas Honky Tonks....didn't you?

    name with held......

  • @LaVerne37 and in full Helen drag if needed...

  • @SirBasildeBrush .....you know too much.....SENSATIONAL!

  • @SirBasildeBrush are you saying that over in the UK, that there are actually female impersonators that perform as Helen? SUPER-SIZE SCANDAL!!!

"Perhaps Basil doesn't mean it.....perhaps he's only shy....."

  • @LaVerne37 Mostly by Germans living in Italy.

  • @SirBasildeBrush isn't Sonja a she? OMG!!! Anders yes...but Sonja? words can't begin to...oh never mind!

    "I Was Only Kidding..."

    :p

  • @LaVerne37 I'm confused...are you saying Anders & Sonja are one and the same...but which one is the impersonation..!?! SCANDAL!!

  • @SirBasildeBrush ...Basil is a stitch! You can always "one up," moi! Now Sonja is confused! LOL...

    Wondering Wayne...

perhaps Bas doesn't mean it...perhaps he's only shy...

  • @LaVerne37 What is a stitch ? Yes, now I am really confused.

  • @LaVerne37 Of course I am a "she" !! What did you think ?

  • @Banderuola66 we are teasing you! BOH! you are 100% gorgeous woman...

  • @LaVerne37 Bad Bad Boys !!!! But very nice compliment. Thank you.

  • @Banderuola66 Heh heh heh. Must be the effect of being in Munich last week!

  • @SirBasildeBrush Yeah, must be the strange air there. So many crazy people.

  • @SirBasildeBrush Hey guys, what's going on ?????? Ehrlich gesagt, ich verstehe nur Bahnhof.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......I'm in HEAVEN......the back-up dolly birds don't hurt either...

    :)

  • Gosh what a fantastic tune and the way Helen voice curls around ...expresses her feelings is just melting... tks. "high miles" for ya suggestion...

Great sound to this great tune

    ... I didn't know ...nor heard this 1 before...

5 brilliant stars for the upload ..from Bp.

  • Delighted you like this one,and thanks for those stars!

  • by the time Helen utters the "m," as in "mmmmmmm some other night," well the chairs in the pub go flying...the CAD! how can he do this today? I think it was penned to pay a tribute to a teenage "Basil," one never knows, laggie! but stick around...Basil's comments are spot on! :)

  • But I'm speechless!

  • "but right now..." it's 2010 and I think I still love this gem...and Basil's still stuffy...

    :)

  • Excellent. I had never heard of this album before. I would have bougth this when it came out. great to hear it here now.

  • Rather a difficult album to get now on vinyl or CD - ask LaVerne.

  • Barry: I've got the album FRAMED over me bed...sweet dreams indeed!!! I would be only too happy to send you all the cuts...in thanks for your posts of "The Bells Ring," and "The Lisping Song!!!" Just write me...no charge...just from one music love to another...

    Wayne

  • I'm really becoming a Helen fan! Thanks for posting her great treasures Basil.

  • You dug deep in my archive to find this one! A firm favourite (favorite) of you -know-who.

  • It's just beautiful. Thanks again.... You never know where people are going to find treasures.

  • DID ANYONE FAIL TO MENTION THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST ALL TIME RECORDED GEMS OF THE PAST 100 YEARS?......just checking

    ;)

  • becoming.....BECOMING? lol.....yes my Angel...we all have to start somewhere...since the previous generation apparently were sitting on their ears in America when HELEN SHAPIRO recorded this in Nashville...

    WE WUZ ROBBED!!! SCANDAL!!!

It's NEVER TOO LATE ANGEL!!! (must stay calm...what i mean...must breathe...and hit replay...)

    name withheld.....

  • sigh...... ;)

  • you never know...

  • 365/24/7

Will never begin to repay thee...oh great Basil of Brush...

    Sir Verne of LA

  • Wow, I adore it ! Never heard before !

  • The absolute best of the U.K.: Helen Shapiro...The absolute best of the U.S.: Nashville...Helen+Nashville...for three days the world was perfect...in 2008...the genius of SirB enables us to experience nirvana...

  • Helen's version is far superior...recorded in Nashville...the other version is ok...with a singer that is ok...thank God Helen's version doesn't sound like that other woman's...

  • This song was written for, and recorded by Sandra Browne, by Mike Reed and Mitch Murray. This has been copied here by Helen as is an inferior sound entirely

  • I know the Sandra Browne version well, although I didn't know it was written for her. It's a nice song, but most people seem more disposed to the Helen Shapiro version, myself included.

  • YOU TELL 'EM SIR B !!!

    Pi**ed off Texan...

  • Again...a month later...Sir B you are the best...There are four Helen songs I simply cannot hear enough: "Young Stranger," "You Don't Know," "Sometime Yesterday," and this gem...you Brits punished the "colonists;" when we threw your tea into the Boston Harbor, YOU KEPT HELEN !!! But years later, Sir B to the rescue...Helen In Nashville is a jewel in my crown!!!

Sir B's fan club in Texas....Wayne and counting...."Bless Ya!!

  • I think we're in agreement on those songs. I'd add on "Cry My Heart Out".

PS You still owe us for that tea...

  • As much Helen Shapiro music that I have for some reason I don't have this song! WAY better than the cover I heard by another Brittish singer named Sandra Browne - hers is kind of funny sounding with these two male backups going "Da-dap Da-dap" all over the place and a Hawaiian guitar! Kind of like evening at the Polynesian Room! :-) Thanks for posting!

  • Hi jonny. I think this song has only ever been availalbe on the 'Helen In Nashville' album, which is difficult to get these days. Also difficult to imagine a better version of this song -never heard of Sandra Browne, but it'd be interesting to hear it sometime.

  • "Sir B" dedicated this song and posted it to me....he could not have made a better choice...reminds me of a high school romance that dumped me when she became cheerleader...I hear she is now a man.....WHEW!!! THAT WAS A CLOSE ONE!!!! My mum would have loved the "Helen In Nashville album." Sir: does the name Harland Howard appear as a writer of any of the tunes?

Wayne in Texas...trying for my British citizenship....!!! MUST MEET HELEN!!!

  • Only in America... I think all my old flames are still women at the moment.

Harland Howards gets no accreditation for any songs, or any mention in the sleeve notes! This song was written by "Reed & Murray".

  • I love this song! Thanks so much for posting!

  • "Sir" my first ever "dedicated to me song," posted yesterday August 21,2008...it's 24 hours later and the 7 million people in the Dallas/Ft.Worth Metroplex have heard it!!!

Pooped in Texas...We're sending SirBasil an OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL!!!

  • Pleased to hear you survived that 100 degree heat. I'd be happy with even a bronze.

  • Oh what I'd do right now for a steak and kidney pie ... Thanks for this SirBB - well appreciated

  • I could go one myself. A word with Mrs SirBB methinks.

  • Oh right! You LUCKY thing!!! Bon Appetit!

  • A new fresh Texas morning. 100 degress already at 4:30 AM...NOT...enjoying coffee, "Shaps," or "Hegs," as her friends call her and my hero: SirBasildeBrush!!! Another Yankee in Ohio "BandstandMike," is now falling in love with Helen Shapiro...

"Morning Coffee With Helen In Texas..."

  • This is the very first song that has been posted on Youtube for me....I'm gobsmacked!!! and I'm probably the only Texan that knows what that means...."SIRB," you have really really knocked me out!!! Thank You Thank You THANK YOU!!!!

"You'd think SirB knows me"......blushing in TEXAS!!! GOD BLESS THE UK!!!

  • My pleasure, hope you like the song!

Hmmm - had a quick look & can't immediately find H. in Nashville CD. In the meantime, a good supplier of just about any UK (+ others) RnR is Bim Bam Records (Google It), but in the UK. They have a good search engine.

  • Why is it always the case that the cuts one does NOT have sound the best...tugging at the ole heart-strings?...Here in the states, I've only found 4...FOUR cuts from "Helen In Nashville"...excuse my language "SirB," but CRAP!!! I'm gobsmacked again... To any Brits out there: I'm willing to sell a kidney to get "Helen In Nashville," on cd!!!!

Too Hot for Texas!!!! Helen & Sir "B" RULE!!!

  • I'm gonna keep my kidneys but I'm sure gonna get me a copy of that CD!

The Brits do eat kidneypie, you know, Wayne.
