  • I think I like the hollow points more!

  • @OTrAiN37 These are more suitable for areas that don't allow carrying JHPs.

NJ comes to mind, and I think that Italy only allows soft points, if you get a license to carry.

  • Outstanding round.

  • I've never seen a bullet like this before.. I wonder what damage it would do to a person

  • what is it filled of?

  • @alezatf I believe the front part of the bullet is rubber or polymer and the rear is lead.

  • So, these should feed reliably in older pistols that have trouble feeding JHPs? These should feed in a Walter P1 I assume?

  • @Commiefornia Yes they should feed like ball ammo for guns that choke on JHP. To make sure you would have to try a box to check for reliability.

  • @andreleger2001 Thanks for the reply. Been thinking of getting a Walther P1, but don't want one just for the range. Would be nice to be able to use it for self-defense too.

  • nice, i love your tests, i was wonderin, could you test the s&b 124 grain 9mm jacketed soft point, just wanted to see how it stacked up with variouse jhp's. thanks.

  • @gunman848 I think we did those already. It may have been the Federal JSP; they are all starting to blend together lol. In either case, I will try to get some for testing.

  • What a great round! I'd like to see it in .500.

  • @mikeb1444

I'll bet it'll be the size of a 50 cent piece. Whenever I can afford a .45, this is gonna be my round of choice!

  • Neat cartridge.

  • wish they'd make this for 9x18 since that's what i am stuck with till i can afford a g27.

  • love learning bout guns!!!

  • Federal certainly makes the best looking ammo-that's why I always carry Federal.

  • Looks like a good personal defense round, along with Corbon Power Ball, and Hornady Personal Defense FTX. Hope they make this one in 380 Cal,for pocket pistols.

  • I would like to know if you tested those thu layers of denium??If so how many??

Are they available in 380 cal??

  • @dannyfivefifty I am not sure if this round was in our AT1 series of tests, at least in this caliber. I will put this on the retest list with denim for you.

  • @andreleger2001 what does the E stand for in the EFMJ

  • @xXOrGAzMZXx Expanding.

  • Nice, never heard of a FMJ round that expands

  • @dreammaker182

thats like silicone or something like that

  • what's the stuff on the inside? Mint filling? ;-) Anyone know about scoring the sides of a hollowpoint to make it more likely to expand?

  • Thats a hell of a good bullet!!

  • Or using mercury in the hollowpoint's tip?

  • you can get these at Walmart here in Florida. They are an excellent range round.

  • @bladeis300 Wow Wal-Mart? I will have to check mine here. How much were they? The last 'Wal-Mart' round that I have seen that was premium was the .40 cal HST 135 Gr. overrun.

  • Where can you buy these at? Thanks

  • @jmkpns I got these from ammunitiontogo.

  • @andreleger2001 Thanks. sgammo is another good site.

  • This round looks like it would have two big advantages over "traditional" hollow points

1: It would feed pretty nicely in guns which cannot feed hollow points very well. Case in point, very old west german Sigs, or mil-spec 1911s

2: It can't get plugged with clothing material.

Though I think a Cor-bon Pow'r ball or Hornady critical defense solves those problems better than this "EFMJ"

  • Another good thing about them is that they may feed better than regular hollow points. I hear 1911's a more apt to jam with the more wide open jhp's. This round would address that market too.

  • andre what do you think about this for self protection vs hollow points?

  • @gshdrums I would pick hollow points if I had a choice. However, these worked just fine at least in my non official tests. BTW I have just gotten some .40 S&W EFMJ for the next test session.

  • @gshdrums It all depends what state u live in... some states ur not aloud to carry hollow points. i know myself it i carry my m&p 40 i carry the federal hst's if im carrien my taurus 606 i carry a hot 357 mag hollow point.

  • u guys know that FMJ were not designed to shoot ppl in the open, it was designed to shoot people through certain types of cover, a HOLLOW POINT will not do this in a ranged situation. i use FMJ in my Glock 31 and i have 1 mag with hollow but preffer the FMJ. if i wanna shoot someone im going to do it from behind cover

  • @xeiL0L Bullsheet

  • I love this rounds

  • Interesting may give them a try

  • I thought the box of truth demonstrated that clothing will affect hollowpoint performance through clogging the tip.

  • F... for "F" you. I love it. hahaha

    Thanks for the vid

  • Pssh...he woulda gotten all five if he used Stopping Power

  • What interests me about this round is, when in expanded form, its a flat circular shape. It doesn't have pedals that tissue may slip between, its pure blunt force.

  • Hollowpoints have two fatal flaws (forget overpenetration for now):

They can hang up on the feed ramp of the handgun, turning it effectively into a bad club, and the hollow point can (and does) get plugged with any clothing, turning it effectively into a FMJ.

The designer of the famed HydroShock hollowpoint was the person who designed this round, for just those reasons.

You get a perfect "flying ashtray" every time, no matter what you're shooting into.

    This is my carry round.

  • @Tommya425 if you watch tnoutdoors9's ammo tests, you will see that most hollowpoints do not clog at all on clothing. I can understand why you avoid hollowpoints though, there is a much greater chance they will hang up.

  • @spazzz64 Yes when we tested with denim, none of the hollow points clogged up at all. It did not seem to make a difference if there was denim or not. I think this may have been an issue with early hollow point designs but nothing made in the last 10-15 years has this problem as far as I can tell.

  • I found this ammo intriguing as unlike most hollow-points it is less likely to be clogged by cloths and go from hollow point to 'improvised FMJ.'

This ammo was intended to be used in states that do not allow Hollow-point ammo, which is bullshit because FMJ is more likely to go through the target and injure/kill someone far beyond the target ...damn politics.

From the looks of this test the ammo preformed as intended. There are a few flaws in the design but it works.

  • This seems like it would be a great choice for those that have "picky" 1911's that don't like to eat hollow point ammo.

  • does anybody know if there exists FMJ bullets that go thru a human body without going into another body standing behind it??

  • Technically that is what a frangible bullet does, while not technically a fmj, it instantly disperses and literally turns to dust upon contact, which is why they are extremely popular for airplane pilots to prevent overpenetration.

  • wonder how these do on weight retention

  • Get a ruger p97 with cor-bon 230 +p jhp. The ruger will feed anything. This new round looks like a joke from the video.

  • these bullets are GARBAGE bought some tested and they do not preform at all went through 6 1/2 in. drywall to a milk jug. they are garbage DO NOT BUY!!!

  • @opec1982 they look like they worked well!! I dont understand why you say they are garbage? Just wondering.

  • It's does cycle better than JHPs but the main reason it was developed is for terminal enery transfer (not overpenetrating) and expansion reliability. They are great against barriers (i.e. auto glass, drywall, etc.) and will not clog with debris or clothing like a JHP. I use them just as much as HST, Speer Gold Dots and certain Double Tap loads.

  • The reason for using these EFMJs is because some guns are finicky and have trouble feeding JHP; I have heard complaints from people before that their pistols when testing their defence ammo, they have trouble with it feeding consistantly, so they are stuck with regular FMJ. Overall, these EFMJ rounds are the answer to the many of firearms, that have trouble feeding JHPs.

  • i dont get the point... lol

  • I cannot see using these for my CC gun everybody says when CC or SD use nothing but a JHP for better stopping power , so lets hear your reasons for using these FMJ ammo please

  • The only reason I would use these is if I had no choice. There are some states that have draconian gun laws stating that you cannot use hollow points. These would be the best alternative to a true JHP round. It would allow some expansion while holding to the letter of the law prohibiting jacketed hollow points. This is not the best round if you have a choice, but would be the best if all you could carry is FMJ.

  • you are right FMJ are the strongest but they problem with that it overpenetrate (so they say) with overpenetrate i mean going into the body you are meant to shoot and then going out and hitting somebody else behing him you dont wanna shoot but i wonder if there exists FMJ bullets that doesnt do that

  • @RoyalAlba1 There is no such bullet. To prevent overpenetration use a hollow point.

  • ok thanks

  • @andreleger2001 haha now i wanna know why these would be ur last choice i mean these seem like they would expand no matter what when ur shotting through somethin or not i would think its very reliable expansion and it seem like they expand pretty wide so are they underpowered or not as expanded as they look or idk what the down fall is

  • @bobwatters It is not that they are bad rounds, it is just that there are more effective rounds than this one. These seem to have disappeared from the market. I know the ammo manufacturers make runs of different ammo and this one needs another run. This is a great round for draconian jurisdictions that do not allow hollow points.

  • these are so cool i think the were designed for the F.B.I.

  • @bobwatters They weren't designed for the F.B.I

  • @damiiaaannn the way i read it is that they are the ones the F.B.I. uses b/c they have to be able to go through a certain amount of material and still expand unlike a regular hollow point that would get clogged so maybe they wernt designed for them specificly but they are the ones they use

  • @bobwatters

No, the FBI uses the Winchester Supreme Elite Bonded PDX1 in .40 S&W.

  • @damiiaaannn honestly i have to much to do to research that but idk i read they use these rounds b/c they have to expand to matter what

  • damn that looks like a badass round

  • I have been trying to find these all day over here in alabama. Where in the world can I find a box of these?

  • ammunitiontogo has these in stock in .45 ACP. That is where I got mine.

  • Thanks a lot for the info....I am going to try these out in a 1911 I have that is ammo " ill tempered".

  • I think Im going to get some of these for my Glock 30SF.

  • To us males ammo is like jewelry, it's shiny and beautiful and if you rob our house we'll use it to bust your melon.

  • wow,what terrific expansion.

Thanks so much for posting this I been looking for a Test for these forever, mind if I ask you where you got these? I haven't been able to find anywhere that sells the 200 g version.

    Also what weapon was used?

  • Ammunition to go had these in stock last week. I just checked, they have sold out. They were shot out of my Taurus PT845 - 4 inch barrel.

  • thanks i will look there again.

my sig 220 will like these

  • yay more vids =)

  • Yeah tried out the Ranger-T's today too, uploading shortly... Next weekend is the second big test through denim.
