With all that I've read, tearing during birth was a BIG concern, and it's awesome that you could avoided it perfectly! and the little baby's didn't cone! I have way too many questions and comments I'll just end here...
@ann95jj - I wish you all the best and sincerely HOPE that you will follow your dream and go into midwifery. I am always so heartened to hear of YOUNG women looking into birth options and discovering that there are, indeed, other, more peaceful, ways to welcome babies into our hearts and lives. All the best to you! xx
@ann95jj - there was literally no time for her head to mold! She was born in 90 minutes flat. That, coupled with the fact that this is my third baby, led to the fact that her head had no molding at all! :-))
I am simply in awe of it all, but still can't seem to help to be overwhelmed, frightened! Seeing the smiles and the gorgeous kids was very encouraging and beautiful, to say the least. What a beautiful family you have! I think it is also very admirable to nurse babies fully the first 2 years, I wish to do the same. Thank you very much for valuable information and for sharing this incredible experience.
one of the most AMAZING things I've ever seen! I'm only a clueless 16 yr old interested in midwifrey and dreaming of my own family and children, having been watching different birth videos and reading plenty of all sorts of pregnancy-related things...I've noticed that the general saying is if you're left alone to do it naturally and not pushed and stressed out by emotional people around, it tends to go smoother...
You essentially steam and then dry out slices of placenta (think: beef jerky). The, you pulverize it into a powder which you then put into capsules. You take it like you would any supplement/vitamin. The major benefit is that it wards off postpartum depression and makes you feel great, replenishing valuable hormones and nutrients that your body lost during pregnancy and birth. Many women call them "happy pills", and there is good reason for this. I found it totally made a positive difference.
I saw u did placenta encapsalation ....what is it really n does it help. I've hear things here n there but have no idea what all the talks about. It's my second pregnancy n I've never heard of it till recent.
Just read your birth description and wanted to thank you for such a wonderful account. The photos are amazing. I am a doula and can't wait to show some mum's wee Chloe's birth! Brilliant!
I swear to god that baby is sooooooooooo cute I hope me and my boyfriend have cute kids :) if you have any advice for me please add me on fb or yahoo messenger with this email "dannysaysaloha@yahoo.com" k thanks yet again what a cute baby :D
I was looking for Tandem breastfeeding and came across your video, I am pregnant with baby two and baby 1 (Molly) is almost three months old. I did have a fast easy labor with her no drugs but it was in a hospital I like the video makes me thing about a home birth for baby 2
@mrshilly lol I didn't think they did! If you're talking about birthing in front of the older 2 sisters, they actually REALLY wanted to be there! :-))
I had a hospital birth, and definitely feel more comfortable in that setting in case of emergency. (I did tear pretty bad, I'm definitely going to look into not being "pushed into pushing" for next time!)But I think what you did is incredible and I applaud you! Thanks for sharing!
@holdendmb Well, I wish you all the best! If you can fend off the hospital staff and get into your 'bubble' and do your best to tune into your baby and your body, you will do the best by your body. Always.
Thankyou for sharing I have a question though. If you are making capsules with the placenta why cook it with herbs and spices? At first I thought you where doin a placenta stir fry. Lol.
@newmoondarkmoon It's all about the 'warming', according to the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine. All of the prep adds to the 'warming' if you will...
eating a placenta? discusting. recovery took me 2 wks and i was fine. i have 2 kids 10 months apart in age. not being rude @ all i just would not do that personally. u cant potty train a BABY. thats the dumbest thing i think i have ever heard. my kids are potty training. well son is almost 3 and hes fully PT except at night or when we r out. daughter is potty training, shes 2
Wow my baby is currently OP and I was terrified by all the stories I have heard but this has given me hope that I can do it unassisted and in water..which is what I intend to do now!
Yay! Awesome montage! Thank you for sharing and explaining!
@ mrshilly I think the reason some of us feel compelled to share our births is that we have an unhealthy birth culture, and a birth like Chloe's is like medicine to the collective psyche.
I've seen these pics many many times, but I love them! Emma, I love the blissed out look on your face at 1:48 ... I'm lovin the music.... but I found it hard not to dance in my seat as I watched it. LOL <3 to you!!
Great job with your birth! You look like a wonderful family and I can't wait for my own upcoming homebirth! I will definitely encourage my husband to do some skin-to-skin bonding as well after the birth.
@angablade Definitely ! Tandem-nursing has been THE greatest tool in my parenting toolbox, and I also think it has everything to do with the complete lack of sibling rivalry in our household :)
amazing :) my son and i both appreciated it lols :) he is always fascinated by births and mummy is trying to teach him all about it so when we have our next at home (probably freebirthed given how things are in australia at the moment) he wont be so freaked :) thanks fro sharing xo
This is a beautiful video! 2 of my 3 boys were born at home, with just their father in attendance. My youngest son, however, was born in a hospital due to the fact of messed up dates we thought he was 6 weeks early and in fact he was right on time. :0( It was still a peaceful birth though, thankfully. :0)
That was amazing. I myself am in the process of trying to get pregnant. i was reading about the "purple pushing" does that mean ignoring the urge to push or just not pushing with all your might?
@Meaheiwa "purple pushing" is a term used by Gentle birther's and it means to ignore COACHED pushing... ya know the "Hold your breath, count to ten" pushing that you see in hospital births. It also means that you tune yourself to your body and EASE your baby out, if you can. Sometimes you just have to push hard cause it feels good. lol
Wonderful...Is truly the most beautiful thing to see a woman empowered believing in the success and ability of herself. Dad too....a true partner...what a guy...Lovely!
Most Chinese women (after giving birth) don't eat their own placentas anymore. I am surprise to know that western women consumed their own placentas after given birth.
glad you put this out there emma. like you say 'to good an opportunity to educate'. if i should ever have another baby you have totally inspired me to record the journey!
