I remember when I was just a little girl and I kept staring at the castle, scared half to death about going in there, when I finally did. Few days later, it burned down. Now i look back and am so glad I went on before the incident. <3
I went inside only once when I was a kid, with my mother and friends. I was probably 6, maybe 7 but one of the only parts I can actually remember was a room where the walls were moving inward (allst4rm3 mentions the 'Crush Room', so I'm guessing that's it). Freaked me the hell out. This video is a haunting memento of nostalgia - and that skull is still creepy as shit.
Great footage! I used to go to wildwood with my family every summer since I was 5 in the1980's. This ride gave me nightmares every time but it was worth it. The "Crush Room" in the walkthrough scared the crap out of me!!! Looking at that skull from the boat ride brings back so many memories!
This brings back many memories of my trips to the shore for the summer with my girlfriends. I was really upset when I found out that it burned down. To this day, everytime my fiance and I walk past where this used to be, it brings back so many memories for me as a teenage girl.
Poor Dracula where is he going to live now? Kidding aside though what a shitty thing to do, burning the place down, it's like blowing up the Wonder Wheel at Coney Island :(
The first time I'd ever been to Wildwood was early September 2007, and according to what I heard, the fire at Castle Dracula occured around September 2007.
There was nothing left of the thing once I arrived. They had already tore everything down to make it seem like there was no fire at all...It that kinda sucked, because I AT LEAST wanted a picture of the burnt remains...
THAT WAS THE BEST. MY BEST FRIEND WAS SCARED TO DEATH OF THAT PLACE WHEN WE WERE REAL YOUNG. IF IT WAS STILL THERE IT WOULD STILL BE THE BEST. SO MUCH FUN.
This place only operated after sun down. The tall torches were lit, the flags were blowing in the wind, and the the scary music was played over loud speakers. Only then the walking dead came back life. It was impressive to say the least! Then as an adult I found out it was burned to the ground and the owner took the insurance check and just kept the money instead of rebuilding! This was a crime and the city of Wildwood needs to bring it back.
I worked as a vampire here when i was a student back in the summer of 86 , watchinfg this clip brings back happy memories, I didn't relaise it had burned down..
Wildwood has always had a special place in my heart. I was very sad when I heard that the castle burned down. I could remember being a teenager dragging my friends inside. Everyone was scared to go in especially when there were people all dressed up in black. I was great to see someone had this on video, and it is nice to look back. I hope someone brings the castle back to that boardwalk one day.
Sure brings back great memories from when I was a kid. I remember going back there about 4 years ago with out even knowing it burnt down. I was looking for it and figured they took it down and was just heartbroken when I researched and found out what happened. What a shame I sure wish they would bring it back. Anyway thank you for putting this video up it's a really good one.
This was one kick ass attraction !! I was hypnotized by the whole thing.. the boat ride.. the coaster right next to the castle..the Yummy waffle cakes . It still upsets me after all this time, that this is gone. But great memories !!
I love this...I lived there in 88 and also a couple years in the early 90's.Lots of friends, great memories, and stories about this place still alive in me and many others.
i got to go on this ride once whn i was 6 yrs old. the yr b4 it got burnt down. im SO glad my mom talked me into going in!! i swear, if i ever become rich, i will resurrect this ride!!! does any1 remember, the last room, where this random guy comes in, and the walls start closing in on u??? tht was so cool. i loved it.
Thank you for posting this. It makes me horribly sad I never went to see Dracula's Caste, Brigantine Castle and The Haunted Mansion when I was a kid. =(
I can't believe it's been over 7 years since Castle Dracula was arsoned by the two punk kids. Now the Nickels brothers (John, Angelo, Steve, etc.) can't afford to rebuild anything because whatever insurance there was wouldn't cover the cost of building a new haunted attraction. They had a stupid $8 bungee jump there on the sand where the dungeon boat was from 2003-2005. Also, the Golden Nugget building was razed but track, trains to Knoebels for new coal mine ride and props in Morey's dark rides
simply put, miss it......

they did it for insurance money, every winter there's a fire in Wildwood, coincidence? I think not!

This video makes me sad for one sole reason....
I NEVER WAS ABLE TO GO ON IT...

This will really date me, but the last time I rode this boat ride it had an Arabian Nights theme. A tunnel of love, not horror.
