Merry Christmas to you Rick, and John, the team. Looking forward to the new year and all that it brings. I'm definitely putting in more time on the technology to arrive at a much better understanding of it all, and your videos really help. It's benefits can be initially overlooked by the Noob, that I am now all to aware of it. It truly is a "big picture", and though simple on the surface, it's really not so simple! Hoping to attend the conference.
Rick, do you still see/find distinct advantages of obtain fast switching speed, like you are, using a mechanical rotor, over trying to obtain the same frequency, let's say, solid state? Also, the coil I bought from you had welding electrodes. Were these normal rods with the coating banged off, or, can they be purchased free of any coating? Thanks, Kyle
@rickfriedrich Thanks for your replies Rick. I gave up, frustrated with the basic SSG circuit.. but I'm back at it now, keeping things as fundamental as possible, plastic mag (BMX 20") rotor, no metal or aluminum even anywhere, ferrite ceramic magnets, x3 spacing. If I get it going correctly this time, I believe I will take what I've learned and shoot for a ceiling fan, I use wood heat, so that'll be as close to overunity as I'll ever need; given I need the circulation. Thanks

@KyleCarrington Yes there are advantages with mechanical rotor. One is free mechanical power.
Rods are R60.

This was all Tom's work. He always does a really good job. I don't think I've ever seen less than perfection.

That was awesome!

Sweet!
that would be soo cool if you showed the starting voltages and run bat.
But that thing is humming.
I must be doing something wrong, I had to re-wire mine to get it going 20k RPM
yours looks like it can almost get there as is.

charging is crazy fast - Thanks
