The control over our own resources.

Establish a 350 mile sea boundary.

    Re-establish the trade routes.

We will be a nation again.

  • Independence will do fine!

  • Ingebjorg was murdered at Fettercairn in 1069. Malcom married Mags soon after. Twelve years after MacBeth`s death and Malcs succession as King Of Scots. I would suspect it was David I (Margaret`s son) who moved to Dunedin, it was him that constructed the chapel within the original Dun. It was the RC clergy, Margaret brought into the land rid Scotland of the old Columbian Celtic Church. Margaret Atheling and the Anglo/Saxons that changed the culture. Buying and Sellng for english gold

  • The Best King Scotland ever had : David 1, Alexander II and Alexander III and maybe James IV. The Greatest Warrior King ? : Alexander I (the Fierce) or Donald III (Donald Bane or Fairhaired Donald).

  • Malcolm`s first marriage to Ingebjørg was brought toan end when she was poisoned - this allowed his marriage to Margaret, the sister of Edgar Atheling. this marriage produced six sons, three of whom (Edgar, Alexander and David) would become king. she introduced English customs and language into the Scottish court and Romanish church procedures. The large number of English exiles who had gathered in the court helped the eventual Norman/English subjugation of our peoples the legacy remains today

  • None of this makes David I a bad king. David I revolutionised government in Scotland and adopted feudal practices but that was by no means unique in Europe at the time and was no worse than contemparary practice in Ireland. There was no "Columban Celtic Church" as such and, whatever part Margaret played, it matters little in today's world where there is little church involvement anywhere. The Scots and Irish have always fought among themselves and England makes a convenient scapegoat.

  • High King of the Scotsmen, better words could not have been chosen.

  • Bruce and James VI have no comparison...James VI was the worst, or at least one of the worst kings Scotland ever had..a hater of Gaels..a complete anglophile...responsible for the plantation of ulster and twice attempted plantation of the hebrides to colonise gaelic Scotland... disaster for both Scotland and Ireland and only with independece can we begin to fix the mess he left

  • James VI in many ways I would agree with your sentiments here...However, it was only after he had inherited Elizabeth's throne did he act as he did. His english advisors were the ones who initiated his actions. he complied or else he would have been taken out of the equation - remember what happened to his son....

  • Greatest Warrior King - MacBeth - JamesVI - JamesVI are not far behind

  • keneth mcalpine

  • MACBETH! he ruined scotland with his own ambition! He forced Malcolm Canmore ito England were he became truly more English then Scottish! If it was not fro MacBeth we would still be our own nation instead of having Scotlands chidren to kiss the collective sassenach boot!

  • Yes, but he never would have been introduced to such things had not MacBeth's foul ambition sent him to hide in England. Who moved the seat of government from Inverness to Edinburgh? NOT GOOD OLD PEGGY! Malcolm changed our culture to better suit himself that is what gave England the idea that they had dominion over us.

  • Our greatest King.

  • Robert Ard Righ nan Albannach
