  • only thing keeping this album from being a total classic is him not spitting on the intro and outro beat

  • @0a170 I spit on your moms big boo-tay during the intro and outro. That should be enough.

  • @flybladder shes dead

  • you have the order and the songs on this playlist all wrong... kick push 1 or 2 has nothing to do with MYH... thats a completely different person you could ask lupe himself

  • I NEED THE DOWNLOAD BEAT!!!! ANYONE THAT HAS IT HIT ME UP!

  • who is the poet that's spittin????

  • @BspokenPoetry...it's Lupe's sister...she does it on the intro to his 2nd album The Cool too

  • not many ppl know this but the girl reciting the poem is lu's lil sister aysha and she also did the poem for the cool

  • is lupe fiascos food and liquor not a registered religion yet?

  • HES A MUSLIM U DUMB FUKKZ START RESPECTING IF U WANT RESPECT LAME ASS WANNA B HARD NIKKAS YA SHOT BUT NOT TO KILL BUT TO FIT IN...GROW UP MATHAFAKKAS....

  • this reminded me of nastradamus -nas with the poetry in it

  • what was that song on this album where hes talkin about a dude buried alive and have to eat dirt to get out??

  • @jamesjones4444 The Cool

  • @jamesjones4444 the name of the song is the cool and its probably the best song lol

  • Prisons packed, bubblin over in brown sugar

They keep empty, Westside lots crowded, hype's powdered

The well is running dry, the days of Malcolm and Martin have ended

Our hope has descended and off to the side

Waiting for the reinstallment of the revolution

Because we are dying at the cost of our own pollution

But God has another solution, that has evolved from the hood

I present one who turns, the Fiasco to good

  • @jaidur15 Haha, emphasis on DUUUUUUUUUR

  • to be honest no other album has ever made me get the feelin that i get when i listen to this...no homo

  • wow, i want to hear more of this album already! Lupe = God's Angel :-)

  • so what if hes arabic pronounciation is bad. he tries too his full extent, lord will accept it.

  • dope album. one of my favorites

  • He's arabic pronounciation is too bad!!

  • @justice4allTURKS Learn how to spell, then talk your bullshit you asshole

  • @arms96 we know how to spell

That's why we are (Turk race) more than 1000 years muslims. and we know how to spell you americans typcal Lost generation.

  • @justice4allTURKS I'm Iranian. Let's face it. You spelled "his" wrong

  • ....Can I have an explanation?

  • @mcluuvnnn look it up on rapgenius it has the explaintion to almost every rap song

  • @shetaiya not an isreali you moron

  • lupe is a muslim?

  • @isreal95 - Yes... His given name is Wasalu (Muhammad Jaco).

  • @isreal95 no hes catholic..

  • @IXxBossxXI He's Muslim.

  • @TonitheTater N O S H I T. i was being sarchastic

  • @IXxBossxXI It's text. It doesn't translate well. Get over it.

  • @TonitheTater im pretty sure when you begin a response to an obvious answer and end it with 3 dots even the slightest assumption of sarchasm comes across. if not then you need to be more open minded and thing of more than one possibility rather than go with the "what you see is what you get" single minded mentality

  • @IXxBossxXI ...I can't read your mind. Why would I assume your tone when the context of the conversation didn't lend itself to sarcasm. An ellipsis could easily signify hesitance.

  • @TonitheTater im pretty sure its the same damn way if you were texting or having an im conversation with your friend and they say something you didnt know was true they would give you a sarchastic response and you would know it was. if not then you need to work on being socially perceptive

  • @IXxBossxXI Are you my friend? Do I know you? Was the assumption of sarcasm even contextually appropriate? The answer to all of these is no. Someone asked Lupe's religion, someone else says he's Muslim, and then you say he's Catholic. Then you assume that I know you were being facetious because YOU know you know he's a follower of Islam. I am not a mind reader. If you say something incorrect, expect people to assume you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

  • @TonitheTater you know what im honestly not gonna waste my time reading that whole thing. i dont care anymore, this conversation is over

  • @IXxBossxXI Then there was no point in replying. Afternoon.

  • @IXxBossxXI ...All right. So you're telling me to be "open-minded and think of more than one possibility" whilst insisting that an ellipsis can only be construed as sarcasm.

    Okay.

  • this beat is sick as hell. love it. trynna find the musical lol

  • DID ANYBODY KNOW its a lot of songs on food and liquor and the cool including this one is based on the story of Michael Young look it up to here all the songs in order

  • this is deep..they deep funeral homes in business

  • lol its supposed to be pronounced a-ud-zu-bi-lah not a-u duble, love his songs not hating here

  • I hate how hard it iz to pick up the rhyme scheme

  • @MyDogBrownie genius is hard to follow sometimes.

  • at least he said the arabic, unlike other guys who'll try to deny it,

  • he said these opening verses in Arabic to God. and his God will understand him perfectly no matter how his arabic is. stop hating on his Arabic, because you know what, if i even make a joke about a middle eastern person's English, i will be labeled as a racist. So stop and think about it for a sec.

  • wat's tha name of that poet who starts off tha intro? I know it but I forgot it xT

  • i NEED this instrumental, anyone know what it is?

  • Comment removed

  • its just the way he pronounces the words, it doesn't matter if he can't pronounce it right. listen to the muslims in china or india, its all different. don't hate people. peace be upon you.

  • The Illmatic of the 21st Century.

  • Lupe Fiasco is the Trillest Artist in Hip Hop right now that expresses positive messages about his background and revolution to Wake People Up! For Anybody Who Doesn't Take The Time To Understand His Concept and Ideal Thinking You Are Sadly Mistaken. He Reminds ME of Malcolm X!

  • Skip to 1:33 THAT'S WHEN THE REAL BEAT KICKS IN.

    Feel it :)

  • yhu have to respect the poetic introduction. forget the arabic and mature up!

  • sick beat

  • i really wish he made a real song out of this beat its so sick

  • I'm sorry this is pissing me off

this is a scripture from the Koran i believe

I'm not familiar with it too much. but it does sound very familiar.

And the fact that he's Muslim furthers my opinion.

Lupe is also too smart to make up some fake crap and put it in a song

as for others... you have no right to judge if you're just a prosecutor( take that as you will)

  • the cool is wack compared to food and liquor

  • @royalnash U out of your damn mind?? None of the stuff that lupe says is wack. Period. You might have liked food and liquour better but they were both great.

  • @royalnash well i wouldn't use the word wack but to me it was good but your right this album was better

  • dude stop hating on his arabic, he grew up in the ghettos of chicago not the Middle east

  • @MoeB159 I'm not gonna hate on his Arabic, because it is a very very hard language to master. I'm born Arab, so I know. But the thing is that he needs to work a bit better on his pronounciation, because it makes a lot of difference in the meaning of what he's saying. He says "A'uzu" when it should be "A'uthu" and "Bishmilla" when it should be "Bismillah". Still this doesn't take away from his lyrical talent (He's a master at that, for sure), it's just a bit of a glaring bother to me.

  • @MightyStreetFighter Yeah, I know. I'm from Sudan myself and Arabic is very hard to learn. But come on man, cut him some slack. At least he's trying to be a good Muslim.

  • Sorry, i tried to say, i agree with you, he is occidental not east. ; )

  • does anyone know who might the poet be in the intro may be?

  • @initialdrift86 bitch more

  • @initialdrift86 So if that what it means to be muslim count me out!

  • @Uknowcool24 If that's what what means to be a muslim? I just said this guys Arabic is horrible. I've been a Muslim for 2 years and I can pronounce what he's trying to say better. All I'm saying is, he could've put a little more effort into his pronunciation, it ain't that hard. And plus, how is he gonna include Islam in to a song titled "food and liquor"

  • @initialdrift86 Because of the MEANING! do you know what that is?

  • @Uknowcool24 Nope, explain it to me.

  • @initialdrift86 The Intro is the opening song for For "Food & Liquor". While Food(Good) & Liquor(Bad) the girl thats saying her poem is talking about how everyday street life is played like: Damn Girl yo but big, Hey Joe(Chicago Slang) Jay-z said he gat 22/2's but this nigga gat 44/4's. During the end of her poem Lupe comes on speaking lines of the Qur'an in Arabic. and a lot more to stuff to decipher

  • @initialdrift86 he says it in the intro when he says "I got this philosophy right, I think the world and everything in it is made up of a mix of two things, you got your good, you got your bad.. you got the FOOD and your LIQUOR" the FOOD represents the GOOD and the LIQUOR represents the BAD!

  • @initialdrift86 This isn't about linguistic ability..

  • @jaidur15 What the hell are you even talking about? I didn't make this moron. Is my name Lupe Fiasco? Use the brain that god gave you.

  • @RaiseTheUnderground do u have the cool?

  • @Lupe4Wade yeah ill post it sometime this week

  • @RaiseTheUnderground THANK YOU :)

  • @jaidur15 You don't know what there saying. Well i do.

  • @jaidur15 hurt

  • @jaidur15 you heard it wron it not el dubla A'uzu billahi and it means i seek protection with god

  • @TheZombieJC A'uzu billahi min ash shaitani r rajimi

Bismi 'llahi 'r-rahmani 'r-rahim is what he says right?

  • @zinwiz43 yeah it is, strong american accent on it but who cares.

  • @zinwiz43 Yeap. He has a very, VERY strong accent though. But to be honest, I don't think it really matters as long as you mean what you're trying to say.

'I seek refuge with God from Satan.' and then 'In the name of God, the most beneficial, the most merciful.'

  • 1:10 learn to pronounce bismillah lupe

  • @blahman123x ok so wut wuz da foreign soundin part?

  • @QHeffner
