Evo's transmission's are garbage I owned a Evo VIII and I went through 3 transmissions in 4 year's (they only guarantee them for 30k miles). Where as the Getrag V160 is capable of 1200hp right from the factory.

And the evo has a sequential gearbox which run for about $5000 to $20,000 and does not required a clutch and you shift up or down to switch gears that is why its seem he switches gears fast, not a manual gearbox look it up.

There's a reason you don't see very many heavily modded Celicas, and that's why you see mostly girls driving them. They are horrible platforms for high horsepower/torque applications unless you have at least $10,000 to throw at it to beef things up. The motors and tranny are weak, not to mention they weigh entirely too much.

The supra has been out in its latest U.S. form since 93, 93-98's. The evo 8 came to the U.S. in 2003. There are evo 8's running mid/low 8's already. The supra which came out in the U.S. 10 years earlier only runs mid high 7's. I know turbo technology has come a long way since as well as the aftermarket support but in my opinion the evo is far more impressive.

You guys realize a supra tt comes with 320hp.....this isnt what makes the car one of the best its the engine itself and its ability to handle so much. The Evos come with what....250+ somewhere around that and ofcourse a lot less in weight. Evos dont rule, especially since toyotas 3.5l v6 makes 311hp tops, which stuck in a supra, and twin turboed!!!! Just imagine, supra needs a new model bad and new engine.
