  • So funny how everything got longer for The Roses as 1989 went on...Sleeves, Trouser Length, Hair, Time between Gigs...

  • the nineties started this day.

  • I like what Noel Gallagher from Oasis said : The Stone Roses would never get back together, However if they did he'd be in the front row, Well July is just around the corner.

  • 3:37 Ian's dancing haha

  • @ainsleywalker He's King Monkey.

  • RIP Tony WIlson. A great man.

  • gibson grabber for miles!

  • @rancidfx999 Its a rickenbacker 4005 mate :)

  • @Greendore damnnn i feel lame. sexy nonetheless

  • @rancidfx999 Lovly bass guitar, wish I could afford one :(

  • @rancidfx999 Rickenbacker mate that headstock gives it away. Plus gibson basses are shite the Roses always had top gear :D

  • 3.40 to the end is on a level with the best of the Jimi Hendrix experience or Joplin..... a complete sublime appreciation of sound for generations past to generarions future....

The amazing thing is I will be in the crowd next year to watch live!!!!

  • Fantastic

  • I wish I could go back to being 18/19 again, I was a true fan.

  • fucking great tune !! john squire is good !

  • Shit, he rocks even in a yellow polo shirt lol.

  • no 1 can drum like RENI !!!! heaton park in the area!!!!

  • Awesome song but lame moves :D

  • come back

  • Totally agree mate, i was 18-21 during 88 and 91, living in Manchester, Wkends in the Hacienda and sum top indie clubs in Manchester, the best days of my life, i wudnt swap them for anything!!!

  • Deadly!

  • This was two years before I was even born. I wish we had this kind of show now showcasing talent such as this, unfortunately though, it seems there's not a lot of talent about. Nothing on the Stone Roses scale, anyway. The only 'musical' 'talent' people are interested in in 2011 is the X Factor, and both the 'musical' and 'talent' parts of that sentence are highly arguable. Long live the Stone Roses and good luck any bands trying to make it in an industry that is overrun with mundane rubbish.

  • I love Manchester. The best Rock'n Roll!!!!!

  • tony wilson=manchester!love&music.

  • Probably the best rendition of my favourite Roses song. I've just watched this with my 6 year old daughter. I went through all the band members with her. She was fascinated by Mani's guitar and loved Reni's drumming and singing. Then she got to Cressa and said "why is he there?". With no disrespect to Cressa I really couldn't answer her.

  • I'd Pick You Everytime - Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

  • this reminds me of the summer of 2003...(not 89'....I was 7 for fucks sake) when I first went crazy for The Roses and New Order and the Happy Mondays and Primal Scream....I was that was the 'Summer of Love' for me....

  • Id just like to set the record straight. Oasis were the greatest band in the world... until they released that god awful second album, from then on they were the band that heralded the death of British indie.

  • @arid595 I hope you mean god awful third album, morning glory was great too.

  • God bless and RIP Anthony H Wilson - he will be smiling about today's event with the resurrection tour massively sell out.

  • they are back!!!!!!!!!

  • up north you get the stone roses oasis the beatles, to name but a few, down south we get blur wtf

  • @7chelseadave queen. stones. floyd........

  • @7chelseadave Blur are okay...nut stone roses are better!

  • The Stone Roses is the best album EVER made.

  • who's the nutter acting like bez in the background?

  • @beckley011 dick head - it's Cressa!

  • @beckley011 according to TheBighuf he is scratching records

  • Fuckin Hell how amazing is Reni there

  • how old war ian brown here? he looks about 15 :P

  • Fucking excellent performance, love the roses big time

  • It's funny how if you say you like The Stone Roses and dress like them then you're a fag. I'm 17 and love this genre of music but get constantly slagged off for it. This is Indie and always will be. Not You Me at Shit and All Time Blow!

  • Whose in the area...who is n who isn't who is n who isn't...Halifax in the area!!!

  • all positive folk who love and know the Roses are IN THE AREA!! Sorry I'm still coming down from '89...I live under an arch on Fairfield St.

  • See "Suggestions" on the right? The Happy Mondays guy looks incredibly like Luka Modrić :D

  • I've heard better sounds in a public restroom!...at a slaughter house!...at a group therapy session of Turrets Syndrome victims! I'd rather have an entire album of nothing but duets between Roseanne Barr and Yoko Ono in a locked room for three straight days than this!!!!....This is just baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad, Booooooooo!!!!!!!

  • @KDMensch Then go listen to something else. *bloody trolls*

  • @mbojkowski "Troll" ~ def: Anyone who disagrees with me on the Internet... (- :

Don't take life so seriously Dude! but it WAS pretty bad! I've heard better sounds at a Support Group for Flatulance Victims! (- :

  • The best drumming performance you will see on youtube. Astounding.

  • doesn't get any better than this. i could say much more, but i won't. just listen for yourself

  • No longer can Great poetry, be attributed to Shakespear e ONLY! Now WE HAVE THE ROSES!

  • @RobPove Same here, except I'm 15 (16 soon) and I live in Bognor.

  • Comment removed

  • RIP Tony Wilson

  • Got all of this but the middle eight E minor was just chords to me. Couldn't pick out the indvidual notes.

  • @Kelly14UK Yeh they are, slightly arpegiated after the break :)

  • 7 bellends I see.

  • I was born well after my time im 16 now but i love Manchester from Joy Division to Oasis, The Smiths to the Stone Roses and I'm from Stoke haha

  • What kind of bass is Mani using?

  • @Noodles37UK He's using a Rickenbacker Bass...not sure what model though! I want one ha

  • @Noodles37UK Rickenbacker 4005

  • @Noodles37UK Rickenbacker 4005

  • mr brown was a good looking lad back in the day

  • 7 confirmed tasteless people!

  • @solarizer Thanks but you don't have to write it.

  • My goodness! How on earth did you find this? ha ha ha. Thanks a bunch!

  • The games bent these days,Cowell would probably vote them off first week,Bring back The Stone Roses!!!!!

  • the guy in the background is epic!!

  • I love Ian Brown, he's so wicked awesome (:

  • Why wasn't this a single? I mean a proper single not that bloody Silvertone one.

  • I was 18 in 1989 and madly in love with Ian Brown - He was 100% beautiful. The Roses were an EXCELLENT ground breaking band who got a lot of bored indie kids into raves and the wider picture of what life was about. I bore my 13 year old son with tales of it all but anyone who was living up north and into that scene between 88 and 91 was having a fucking good time!!!!

  • @FrancescaUK70 so you are an old fart now then....but yeah they were legendary..

  • Respond to this video... ian brown was indeed a good looking bloke

  • Comment removed

  • This is early 1989. Around 6 months later the hair was longer, the clothes were baggy and they looked a lot better (see Fools Gold video/ Stone Roses in North London video)...

  • class, pity bout the hair and clothes but CLASS!!!!!!!!

  • whos the guy dancing around in the background?

  • @yahhhtrickyah lol dude i just noticed him, random much haahaha

  • @yahhhtrickyah He's clearly in charge of special effects! He's manning that really complicated Alesis effects unit. LOL. Friend of the band's probably.

  • @yahhhtrickyah thats cress man

  • @yahhhtrickyah thats some fucking dancin

  • If a band makes good music who gives a flying fuck what they look like? Christ no wonder music today is piss poor today (Well these guys are really good but I don't like their shirt, let's hire some dumb white trash bitch and autotune her and get us to take her clothes off, tons of gullible idiots will give us money for that!) BUT MUSIC AINT WHAT IT USED TO BE! I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY? SOMEBODY ADD 2+2 AND TELL ME!!!

  • ok, they were stylish in someways, but, in this occasion, specifically, ian brown looks.. how can i say.. there's a thin line between stylish and pathetic.. i think he just crossed l little bit.. prob he didnt have the 'money shirt' already

  • Classic!

  • Ian Brown such an original!

  • who's the guy in the gay yellow shirt lol

  • Comment removed

  • Photos from this vid were used on the album cover, I remember leafing throught the cassette cover in the Summer of 89, bought it at somewhere like Eastern Bloc and thinking how unbeleivably cool those blokes were - and I still can't beleive how cool these blokes are

  • MAANCHESSSTUUHHHHH YEEEEEEE BOIII

  • plz again dont mention oasis im not bitter wait min yes i am

  • yeah i love the roses, we need more bands like this now

  • the man behind the amps is dancing?? hahaha loled at him!!

  • what's he saying?

  • An amazing snippet of rock/pop brilliance is bestowed upon all of us via the net and YouTube with this chestnut of 'Waterfall' by the Stone Roses.

This video sounds and looks as though it could have been produced this morning.

That 20+ years have elapsed since this was produced is amazing beyond description.

Could it really have been that long ago?

So utterly and truly timeless and so ahead of their time.

  • what the fuck is the guy with the hat behind the amps doing? !!!!!!! lol!!!

  • @Looski69 getting high lol?

  • @Looski69 He's just dropped a couple and is now on it.

  • @Looski69 . The guy behind the amps is the unofficial 5th member of The Stone Roses Cressa. He worked Squire's pedals for him once it became too complicated for him.

  • grEAT STUFF!

  • john squire is much better at playing guitar than painting.

  • nice non sense drum kit

  • simply magical

  • Talent unspoilt.......................

  • that album is to me, the greatest album of all-time. there will never be an album as good or as intoxicating as the stone roses' debut album. they were the best band of the world at their time. they could've blown U2 off the stage.

  • who is the other Ringo Starr?!

  • @IckyThumb1874 He's refering to the fact that Ringo Star was often called "the other one" in The Beatles.

  • WTF? A frank person in TV?

  • cool song, and band :P

  • Love & miss you every day r kid we lived it & loved it

  • Thank you Stone Roses thank you Tony Wilson and thank you anyone else worth a mention

  • the all great but that drummer come on he's wicked dunt even look at the drums..ha haar

  • I LOVE IAN'S VOICE!!

  • MINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cressa = Legend

  • Only 3 words can describe the Roses here. "Cool As Fuck"!

  • this song is beyond good.

ian was so adorable when he was young.

  • Twenty years on and it still sounds fantastic.

  • Amazing paintjob on Mani's bass.

  • fuck you I'm an arab and find that so very offensive you rude rude man!

  • @ganstahfosho amen to that

  • john squire painted that

  • they dont have bands like this coming out now a days. they were class.

  • @slamb03880 they do.......the coral!!!!!

  • @slamb03880 wrong. check out exit calm, reverend and the makers, emerhoff and the melancholy babes, just for example ... besides: don't you think it's enough to have ONE stone roses? aren't they brilliant enough? they don't need no followers, do they?

  • the unofficial fifth Rose!

  • I remeber this like it was yesterday, those were the days!

  • looks like ians havin a hard time lookin at the camera

  • He admitted that they were all nervous about this performance, which is odd for them as usually they just got on with it.

  • This is amazing.

  • they blew my mind.

  • Nevermind the hat hat, Reni has some mean skill. His effortless style makes it look easy. A truly talented drummer in my opinion.

  • Agreed.

Looks effortless until the end, when he starts flailing about like Keith Moon, which makes me like him even more!

  • Ian looks like a teeny bit like a window-licker here.

  • @Shoethiefking you dick obviously dont see many live bands stick to s club 7

  • Asmyth, you ignorant idiot.

    I'm a fan.

    You however are the following:

You swine. You vulgar little maggot. You worthless bag of filth. As we say in Texas. I'll bet you couldn't pour piss out of a boot with instructions on the heel. You are a canker. A sore that won't go away. I would rather kiss a lawyer than be seen with you.

    You're a putrescent mass, a walking vomit.

Courtesy of Guy Macon (not me)

  • @Shoethiefking Get out the house much mate? Haha, Hows about you go eat some BBQ SAUCE.

  • 02:24 wtf is doing that guy ?

  • The world is a poorer place without Sir Anthony H Wilson. RIP

  • Too true. RIP

  • @RolexTharsus and Joy Division were poorer BECAUSE of him LOL. That Hacienda was expensive.

Still...the Stone Roses were the cream.

  • Ali G is D.J ing in da background

  • Fucking awesome band.

Only starting listening to them when my Dad bought me their remastered debut album for my 16th.

Their music is on another level to anything I have ever heard.

  • Good lad and Good dad!

  • :D Yeep

  • @sugarraygras hoooo?!

  • Karl Pilkington's brother? Playing...Cressa was the shit...looks like Da Pilk tho...

  • That bassist is sick.

  • the bassist is Mani. He now plays base for Primal Scream

  • I know, goin' so far as to call him a "douche." Sad many don't see past image, eh? Vibes!!!!

  • Wow ! all these "massive" stone roses fans who dont know who the "guy" is dancing with them. FCKN clueless tossers.

  • Right on brotha...Karl Pilkington's first TV appearence....jk...

  • its funny how tony wilson wouldn't sign either the stone roses or the smiths, which i think are by far the most talented groups out of the whole 80's manchester scene.

  • very funny lol

  • I thought he didn't like them just because they didn't sign to Factory... he actually passed up the opportunity to sign The Smiths? and The Stone Roses? I can't fathom why you would pass up either of them.

  • @woodstockchild11

agreed the smiths and the roses had the most influence out of that whole scene.

  • @kingshahine & NEW ORDER!

  • who the fuck is that teggit dancing at the back???

  • The douche in the back with the skull cap , LOL! But i have to say im a massive roses fan and of the time, wish i could go back
