@YawningBoy It has been a while since I've had a Dane puppy, but you must feed a good brand of dogfood like Eagle so they grow up with healthy bones. Their first year is when they get the most growth and after that they don't eat as much as a person would expect. Sorry that I can't give you a dollar amount, but top quality dry dog food is expensive, plus they have their shots so it does cost a bit on top of the price to buy one. Good luck.

I have a great dane and we're feeding her according to Mr Billinghurst diet...the important thing is NOTHING COOKED...NOTHING!
The dog is perfect, she grew up proportionally in all her parts and the great thing is that she DOES NOT SMELL at all...except when it rains or when she underwent surgery.
@Nuvola75 hi I thought that too. I didn't have a great dane growing up but I had plenty of other dogs. We knew it was a bad idea to feed them dry food because it is true there are chemicals in there and a lot of dogs in the US have problems like heart disease because of all the sodium in the dry food.
@Nuvola75 I'm well aware of the raw food diet, but Eagle brand is fine quality dry food and every part is put together by the company for quality control - not farmed out. I also know a few people who use the raw diet and their dogs smell. From what I understand one has to add correct amounts of specific additives to get the diet balanced.I do not believe it is the only diet.I know for a fact that a lot of show Danes are fed Eagle and those are expensive dogs
