The first thing I noticed is that the wifi signal on the 1st gen seems weaker than the 2nd gen. (2 bars vs 3 bars). That would explain the loading time difference between both itouches. And there is more screen clarity on the 2nd gen, much better colour depth and generally a much better viewing experience.

@MrMontreal17 Actually they are not. The iphone ares thick but i just jailbroke a homies 1g and I can say its still very thin and new looking. With cydia installed you can almost get away with a current gen device. also you can buy a heaphone speaker for like 1.50 on ebay or even turn it into a limited iphone with an apple peel accessory. I want one but I know ill just end up buying a 4th gen. Something inside me compells me to make the most out of cheap stuff

no way those things are hella fun to mod and jailbreak and accessorize. I own an ipad currently and really want a cheap 1st gen to go crazy on. You can even bypass the ios limitations so you can play games that are rrestricted on older models. You need to study some jailbreaking techniques to get the most out of your buy
