Looks good. Now -- where is the squeese Parkay? ;o) That is a nice innovative piece of gear Brawny. Something I've noticed with my little emergency pot I use when I go hiking is the seams leak, sometimes, on my tin cans. I now use a Progresso soup can because its extruded and has no seems. I cut the lid off with a side cutter and it makes for a nice cover. Add some stones and a bit of water, and I've got a nice little steamer/oven for one potato. Doesn't take too long either. Neat big oven here.
I was very surprised how hot and how fast these three potatoes cooked. I'm thinking baked apples, brown sugar syrup to lick out with a finger....cause sometimes a hobo could come across apples, like in an orchard? Thanks
Is the can safe to cook in? Is the can galvanized or anything like that? Nice video. All those potatoes need is some nice chucks of melted cheese on them. Yum!
@MsSpy I believe it is, MsSpy. Some cans will get this film on the inside when they are heated in a fire. This can had peaches in it. We used to use all sorts of recylable containers on long distance backpacking trips, before all the worries about leeching came into the news. Its hard to get in touch with the inner hobo when health concerns are foremost. Guess we do what we gotta.
Nice hobo oven. Now you just need some sour cream and chives...Dash Riprock

great idea great video thanks for sharing. if you had used foil you could have only used once the can is reusable.

@contreeman And also, Contreeman, sometimes a hobo can't find any clean foil, whereas a tin can? Yeah, tons of them.
Thanks !
