Hey people, if you don't know where to get a Tri-Winged screwdriver, go onto Amazon.com and look it up, they have one i got that is specificly for Wii and DS Lite.

It doesn't cost much!

My Wii had stopped reading the game disks so I opened it using this video for guidance - except the end where I instead removed the DVD reader cover. Stuck between the center and the laser was a keyring that one of the kids had shoved in, haha :). That place was highly magnetic. I just removed the keyring, screwed the Wii together and then it worked again :-D

dude you should send it to CPR(cell phone repair store) they fix game consoles too. They fixed my wii for $55 in like 2 days!!!

i want to disassemble it to fix the lens... i once took my wii to a store to fix the lens. but the store said that my optical lens is broken, they told me to pay 140$ for that... but i simply dont believe it, maybe its just dirty or something.. need help here :(

I just want to remove the front part of the wii because my cousin jammed the sd card in the slot by putting it in backwards... -_-. It's impossible to remove and now we need to open the wii. Do you have to do all that work just to remove the front part of the wii?

i DONT want to send it off to nintendo because it might just take 2 seconds to fix and I pay £85.(not good)

I need to know if the WII has a CPU. And if it uses Thermal Compound for the heat sink. Watching videos on here people take off the heatsink but I can't tell if the chip underneith it has any compound on it. I want to know in case I need to replace it for longer life. I don't want it drying out in ten years and over heating. Like the classic PS3 YLOD Situation.

The reason I took it apart was to fix a high buzzing sound the disc reader was making and I wasn't at all confident I had succeeded in fixing the noise, but by that point I had gone through a stage where I was so sure I had broken the damn thing I was looking up used Wiis on Craigslist. Anyway, it still works and the noise is gone, but my victory is diminished by this small plastic container on my desk filled with extra screws and stickers.

Dude! You are a life saver! One of my sons put a DS game in and it went to the back. Never would have been able to open the Wii without your help! Finding the tri-wing screwdriver was the hardest part. Went to Al-Tex.
