I might be getting this bass in a month , to up grade from my sr405qm , witch I love! what are you playing through I have an acoustic B600h and two B410 cabs.
The bass sounds fine to me whats the complaint about it realy?
Man... I was looking into this bass for a main bass, but it really doesn't have a rock sound. For a $2000 bass, it kind of sounds like a cheaper bass. I thought it would have some kick with the wood combination they used. The sound to me, is boring and NOT worth the money. But I will say that it IS a nice looking bass!
@Pinstripedtie This is exactly the reason why i sold it, luckily i bought it and sold it around the same price so didnt lose to much. It does sound great but for this bass to be in that price range i think ibanez need to improve on the electronics, even get rid of bartolini.
overall this bass feels, looks and plays like a $2000 bass but sadly most important factor personally is sound. and it some what lacks in that department.
@kaylumnewell Are you sure that the bass can't get a good rock sound? I mean, it has an active EQ, you must be able to turn up the treble to get more growl, no?
What are you tuned too? I always thought 5 string basses were tuned to B-E-A-D-G. I don't understand why you play the beginning riff on the the B (if you are tuned that way), coz Timmy C is standard tuning 4 string all the way. Just a little confused. Nice groove on the Joss Stone Free Me cover btw.
Hi there, My bass is tuned to standard for this. The reason i use the B string is that i find i have more control over a fretted note than an open one thats why i dont play it on the open E. Especially in the bridge part, its much easier to get that tight finger funk feel on a fretted note on the B string. Thanks for the comment
Very good:)

@kaylumnewell Well, since you had owned it... you could have swapped out the electronics yourself. that's what I would have done. Take care.

@kaylumnewell so why not put new pickups in it???

Mate, look at David Sinrocks to see how this should be played !!
russandh 1 year ago
@russandh this is played correct, in time and no errors. Im curious how should it be played? Without these? Sure, then davidsinrocks is your man.
kaylumnewell 1 year ago
@kaylumnewell But you don't bob your head as much or play notes that aren't supposed to be there, so davidsinrocks must be better than you. lol.
Seriously though, I'm not certain but I don't think their bassist used a 5-string at all on that album but the way you converted it is flawless.
