have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners do so Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree! ..
@bettydaw1970 150 bhp base and up to 345 in race tune for a limited handful for competition. All carried a 2.0-liter DOHC inline 6, a modified version of the 'full-size' Toyota Crown sedan unit.
@yf21bowman But even at $6,800 in 1967, that was still nearly twice the Datsun 240Z's price in 1970, which sold for $3,526 that first year in U.S. (Port of entry.) The Datsun 240Z offered its own unique, beautiful styling and no less that base horsepower in an engine of 2.4 liters in size, thereby with more torque and yet for less money.
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Sports Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. @skyline777 Although I agree the 2000GT should get a remake, now is probably not the best time. Lexus already has the LFA out for order and Honda only recently scrapped the new NSX, not to mention the FT-86 is due out soon. Toyota's roster doesn't have the room, and there's not enough incentive.
@eldwaldopinches why refer to it as the 'new supra' the 2 cars have nothing in common, geez. some people... and lexus didnt "take it over"... was always a lexus project
Make no mistake about it... this is one of my all-time favorite sports cars and one of my all-time favorite Japanese cars. The same developers of this car also made another favorite of mine- the Datsun 240Z. One time, I saw a red version of this car, and it was BEAUTIFUL! The way it's styled makes you think this is a European car, but it isn't. I don't see how anyone can dislike this car for any reason. Finally, I always wondered what was on the sides of the car (7:04 - 7:11). Great!
This is one of the best Japanese auto designs of the '60s. It's a shame that the car was in production for only two ye\ars, even though a custom convertible roadster version was in the James Bond film "You Only Live Twice". In addition, a coupe was in a episode of "Hawaii 5-0", and there was even a racing version from Carroll Shelby! One wonders if the car had continued production (the car was discontinued due to heavy production costs),
Check out the Witkopedia entry about this car, which mentions something about the Shelby version. Judging from its design, one wonders if Shelby done a "Daytonaized" version!
One of these was on Craigslist near me here in MA about 3 years ago. Had no idea what it was at the time. Car had been sitting in the guy's backyard for many...many years. Wanted $500 for it. Now I kick myself every time I think about it!
These cars were well advanced for their time, they preceded the 240z by 4 years, alot of work was carried out by Yamaha designing the twin cam head matched to a set of triple Solex carbs, the car was aluminium bodied and had a 5 speed transmission as well as 4 wheel power assisted disc brakes....pretty exotic stuff for 1965......i love classic Japanese cars
it was the Z's competitor/counterpart. hha! according to various sources. I have a 280zx, and this car is so much better looking, alas, only like 20 made it to the US i think (toyota)
HAHA! no duh. But, how much is one exactly? I know there only a handful left in North America. Japan i dont exactly know how many there. I am sure UAE has a lot. Those guys always buy exotic/rare cars.
This car was designed by Grad Albrecht von Goertz the famous Designer of BMW 503 and BMW 507 V8--great car this Toyota 200GT maybe greatest classic of the 60s..i like this 2000Gt more than any Ferrari or maserati, even the Jaguar E type looks simple against this 2000GT
2000GT has an opinion designed by Grad Albrecht von Goertz who designed BMW503,507. However, It is not right. It is only a supposition, because Toyota did not announce a designer name. The fact was designed by Nire Nozaki who was a designer of Toyota.
pre-1993 Supras, pre-87 corollas, soarers, pre-1994 celicas.... dude are you kidding? toyota has probably the richest history of any of the japanese makers.
the 87 corolla isnt that too good. celicas are good too, but then why did toyota make it front wheel drive (the current one). but seriously, in my opinion, i think this is the only car ever worth buying thats a toyota.
the 87 corolla is a beater/economy car. from a design standpoint its absolutely a classic. 70s and 80s celicas are beautiful and have more character than anything being produced today. the 93 celica in gt-four trim is an awd rally legend. you are entitled to your opinion but you are wrong and you look like a shithead
A little over 200 km/h. It's not a particularly fast car in today's standard in terms of acceleration. (If I remember correctly, it takes much more than 10 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph).) What is impressive to me is that this car did an AVERAGE speed of over 200 km/h for three to four days (covering much more than 10000 km). It has/had an FIA record of speed for that. See Wikipedia and Google.

This is the only sports car i know of, to come from Japan that isn't a big fat wobberly so called sports car. This car i suppose is the reliable E type.
Toyota has just passed GM to become the number 1 car company in the world. Strange it is that no great sports car represents Toyota today. Sure Toyota makes great cars but they should build an exotic one How about a modern day 2000 GT.
Now this is a car, I love the (MF10)'67-'68 model. Believe me I don't use the word love lightly, I truly mean it. There are many cars that you'll like, but very very few car that you truly love, this is one of them for me.

The used car major company search engine site of Japan was searched today.
As a result, one set of 2000GT has been discovered.
It runs silver and slight 20000 km.
When the price is converted into US$, it is 387000 US dollars.

i suppose too,agree with you.
Form resembles Jaguar E type,
body flame is copy of XXXXXXX probably.
In Japan ,this car is awful expensive by only reason of very minimum numbers of product.
The story that the builder of this car is not TOYOTA but YAMHA, is very famous.
At that time TOYOTA could not make sportscar by their technology,
and they made YAMAHA product it.
