Hi Mark. Thanks for covering this topic! I've been shooting for 3 years and I've always had trouble with my focusing. I suppose it helps to break out that manual once in a while.
"You notice, this camera is a little bit slower" you say. I say "switch it from low speed to high speed, I just deleted your channel from my favourite folder".
you guys are all missing the point-this video is not about your ego-it is about teaching-Mark is an excelent teacher. Who cares if you think you know it all about the specs of each camea-do know how to actually use it?
Who cares what the drive mode was set at on any of the cameras! This video isn't a camera review/comparison. Don't get offended when the camera you own is in a video and isn't made out to look like a superstar so you can feel better about your purchase...Anybody considering buying any of these cameras would find that out on their own.
I use both 7D and D7000, so... cheap and dishonest marketing... 7D caught the market exactly for speed, 8fps, 18MP RAW (not jpg) with a great buffer... The very complex autofocus point selection of the 7D, including the selection depending on the orientation of the camera is also something you shoud mention in this episode! D7000 is a superb camera, but you shoud poit it in some high iso comparation, where it's shine! You must be aware that your words can form opinions and purchasing decisions!
@neubauer6 You think it is ok to compare model and speed and not be accountable if your information is disingenuous. I guess you are OK with being dishonest. Mark chose to make his video public therefore he is accountable. Don't even try to shift the blame to anyone who holds him to account. If I had the cameras I would post the video and it would reflect the actual speeds of the drives and let the facts speak for themselves. How about asking him to admit it wasn't a fair representation?
Wow...get off his butt here people. If you know everything about cameras and photograhy then why are you watching these videos? Better yet, why aren't you posting your own?
It's not about Canon or Nikon...it is about comparing apples to apples though. He clearly names a brand and model and says how fast or slow it is which is fine as long as all the cameras are set to their highest speed as far as drive modes are concerned. It's not about brand loyalty it's about honesty. If he had done the same with a Nikon I would call him out for that as well. If you make a mistake which is clear man up and admit it and move on. If not your videos won't have the same impact.
I'm a beginner photographer and the points that I got from this video was what the different types of autofocus modes are, what the different types of drive modes there are and some details about focusing. Looks like a lot of fanboys are getting bent out of shape for no reason. I don't know what the speed is of any camera and could care less at this stage of the game. This video was very helpful to me.

@TheOats You are right about the beginner aspect but if you are going to be a professional then you should get your facts straight. All the more reason Mark should be putting out factual information to his viewers who depend on his guidance. I hope this was just an honest mistake. If not I would question Mark's character.
@zygotepeyote Thanks for the input. This video is factual. I'm talking to beginners about focus. This isn't a video about different cameras and their shooting speeds. I was simply trying to help people understand the difference between drive modes and focus modes.
@snapfactory Which makes sense but the way your stated the difference did not imply difference but instead inferiority. However, I'll give you guys the benefit of the doubt, just this time.
@TheOats Maybe but how do you know that for a fact? I would like to think that, but SnapFactory must know all levels of users watch these videos, and feel a compassion for their equipment. I hope you're right.
@RLJSlick The video is about focus and focus modes. The reference to drive modes was just to help people understand the difference between focus modes and drive modes. Honestly I wasn't even paying attention to the speeds because I was just trying to teach a principle; drive vs focus mode. This video has nothing to do with which camera is faster.

A Canon 7d has a frame rate of 8 frames per second and a Nikon 7000 has a frame rate of 6 frames per second. You said you had a 2.8 lens on the 7d so something is drastically wrong when you shot with the 7d.
@zygotepeyote I totally agree, he didn't even try to shot at the fastest speed of the 7D, that wasn't the high speed mode of the 7d. Mark you did the 7D misjustice or whatever the word is. I use the 7D daily and I know it's faster then that.
He knows about 7D speed shooting... im thinking why in this example the Canons was looking poor cameras, slower, etc. I think Nikon is paying very well after the coment they posted on their own profile site about the photographers been so good as your equipments... rsrsrsrsr
@pineze2 I totally agree, and I think anyone that think that Mark and Snapfactory did the Canon 7D a misjustice need to unlike this video. I just took it back off of Google + after I realized what he did.
@RLJSlick hahaha... wait, wait, wait... anywhere, the vídeo is ok for me. It was just an observation... hehehe. But, business is business. Lets translate the things we see, we hear, and lets photograph. It was just a joke about Nikon's post about their equipments, but im still a Canon guy and i wont put the great work of Mark under the place it has to be. For me, its ok. Im waiting the video about 1Dx to correct this misunderstood... hahahahhaa. 14fps!!!! 3 sensors (2 DIGIC5+)!!! uhuuuu! Canon!!
so why was the 7d shutter slower than the d7000, considering that the settings were the same f5.4 1/100s shutter... shutter on 7d is 2 fps faster according to stats. surprising!
Remember you can also set some cameras (the D7000 for example) to take a shot only if the subject is in focus, regardless of whether or not the shutter release button is pressed.

Thanaks Mark. Can you do a video on shooting at certain F stops at varying distances? It confuses me :)

I don't think the point was to show which camera is fastest but rather just to show different speeds.
This is a beginner guide after all, and I doubt its that many beginners that know the specs of the different cameras.
Just my guess.

@gurlzrok Because it is cross-typed. In higher-end cameras, many of the other focus points are also cross-typed. They are more accurate.
