  • "showered and blue blazered, fill yourself with quarters"

a statement on modern life? it seems like most songs from the national have overtly political undertones -but i love it.

  • it's Vorst National in Brussels, not forest :)

  • "oh you wouldn’t want an angel watching over

surprise, surprise they wouldn’t wannna watch

another uninnocent, elegant fall into the unmagnificent lives of adults" what a lyric. this band will be legendary very soon.

  • P E R F E C T...

  • great band ,dope song

  • great!

  • great song great video great band

  • I am glad to know that most of these guys studied at my architecture school in Cincinnati....got to see them in Boston and had a chat with them and it was great to reminisce about our old professors and school...its great to know that they were able to succeed and make a name for themselves....talent as a word doesn't begin to describe how good these guys are...especially live

  • true i feel the same way with this song

  • ah, love the national, cant wait till they start touring again, had a great show in austin

  • great tune, great album, great band!!!!!!!!

  • Drum beat is sick

  • They are from the US

  • @eldorrdk Finally, the US can claim a really good band. That doesn't seem to happen to often anymore. All of the really good bands are very unknown.

  • @the7thsunshine hahaha finally??? your full of it man there are plenty of good american bands and you know that

  • are this amazing guys form UK or US?

  • like this song a lot reminds me of Sonic Youth as well as the other bands mentioned

  • Love this band...

  • wow. what a tune

  • ¿se puede ser más bueno?

  • How does so much meaning fit within a 3 minute song? It seems like it will burst at any time. I've been playing this one in my head all day long.

  • Quite possible if your just being in the moment, as this band quite obviously is. It's brilliant! They did not practice this one. The vocalist ran the show, and the instrumentalist gracefully played along.

  • amazing song - i could listen to it all day ^^

  • does this remind anyone else of bauhaus?... or is it just me..?

  • just u and love that drummin!

  • yes, and joy division, too- goes to show, The National not only has talent but good taste, too---

  • I could see that SoulHerb, his vocals and the tone.

  • would someone like to explain emo to Fvwyk1? National rocks

  • I had to change the battery in my MP3 player twice yesterday because I was listenint to this sone all the time! I love it!

  • dope

  • this song has so much heart.

  • ya for sure

  • Hey, douchebag, notice the harmonic ringing tone that is strummed 4/6 throughout the song? That is why he's playing behind the bridge. Idiot.

  • ya - but hes also - layin chords while strumming behind the bridge - thats what is strange - so calm down

  • Okay. Take two. Go find yourself a hollowbody guitar and mimic what he is doing. Changing the fretting changes the dynamic of the "harmonic" effect.

I've seen them live. They are legit. Y'all please focus your conspiracy theory bashes on "popular" shit that plays on the radio instead of real music. Jebus.

  • cool - i learned somin - so it wouldnt do it on a non- hollow body?

  • Changing fretting changes the dynamics of the "harmonic" tonality. Go pick on My Chemical Romance or some other no talent assclowns... Creed, perhaps?

Has anybody on here aside from myself seen the bands the "comment" on live? No?

  • eh, sorry for the double post... *eyeroll*

  • like the song, not the video

  • did anyone realize where the red guitarist was strumming througout the song?

  • AHAHAAA, struming BEHIND the bridge! What a moron. If you're gonna fake it at least make it look real

  • have you listened to the song?

  • I think he was going after that high-pitched scratch effect...especially prominent at the beginning of the song.

  • good point - but would the chords that hes playing even be necessary?

  • Dunno. Maybe he's got some weird technique worked out to give the effect and some notes at the same time. Or he could be a moron.

  • fecking great video

  • this has got to be the best song ever. listen to it 20 times a day

  • cool as fuck, simple as

  • i love this band!!!

  • the band we need to pay attention.Simple and good song.

  • great band! the lyrics is absolutely brilliant!!

  • awesome

  • the drummer kinda looks like that guy from the shins

  • Help!! the hairs on the back of my neck won't go down!!!

  • Perfect song !!!

  • Dudes what a fuckin brilliant song, can't stop listening.

  • good song!

  • Boxer: best album of '07 so far. Something to wear on your sleeve of sleeves.

  • That drummer guy rocks!

  • This is just a perfect song.. Reeeeeaaally cool...

  • this song has it all. great band.

  • I can't wait for the album to come out, the one after this song, Brainy, is a really good song.

  • I agree, I haven't felt this strongly about a band since Joy Division and The Smiths. I'm going to the London Astoria gig as well. They're incredible live, saw them a few years ago in Camden.

  • man i love boxer so much right now...alligator was good but boxer really blew me away...

  • Awright! First! This is a brilliant song off a very, very good album.

I believe I know this feeling.
