I don't like the way the movie expresses their agenda. I believe that embarrassing people in public, treating them like criminals,or imposing AMERICA's beliefs on them don't work effectively.

Mercury? Fishes other than dolphins,some of them contain fair amount of mercury,like a tuna,alfonsin, swordfish...and many of middle sized fishes contain a little. So that means, someone eating tuna sandwich or fish-&-chips... very often like the fat Australians eating like pigs,is more dangerous than someone eating a slice of dolphin meat once a month. It's not black or white issue. It's about moderation.

As a person from Canada who just witnessed an attack on our seal hunts by misinformed people from other countries, I would imagine the Japanese probably have the same reason for removing the dolphins. The seal hunt here is necessary for the fishing industry, seals eat fish (and the hunt is an industry itself also) Then again they might just be a bunch of bloodthirsty savages! I dunno, the Japanese has always been known for eating dolphins and whales, even when the rest of us disagree with it.

Before you go ahead and hate me I'll tell you right now...

Animals shouldn't be harmed needlessly. God didn't give us our ability to reason just so that we would have a tactical advantage over all of the animals. When the seals are slaughtered its because they really reduce the stock of fish (yet a separate animal). Why not consider the culling support of the different species of fish as opposed to killing seals. The trappers aren't fishers too.

Even more then that when you consider how many fish a seal must eat to survive its life cycle - culls usually increase the population and overall health of both species. Since we started culling seals, their numbers have skyrocketed - ironic eh

To say dolphins are more intelligent than 95% of people is really jumping the gun. If they are so intelligent then all they really need to do is give us a sign of their intelligence. If they are more intelligent than people, a simple thing like not having hands shouldn't stop them.

Really if a dolphin showed a true sign of intelligence they would be treated as intelligent. They are by far more capable then most animals. They have the ability to communicate using sound. It works on pitch I believe, not really language but I suppose some would. The closest they have come to creating tools is this interesting trick a few of one species can do "playing with bubbles". It really is an interesting trick, you should check out that video.

There are countless stories of dolphins saving people from sharks and drowinging, why they would, I don't know, when we have no respect for them or their environment. Of course you would support the caging aof animals in a park to entertain humans, why don't we kill them too - they are taking actors jobs!

I mean they are very trainable, but that isn't really intelligence. However I know what you are trying to get at and that is okay. If your belief is that people are just really speciest and violent animals then that is your belief. Honestly there is no difference between killing a plant or an animal, they both are living organisms. How could you live with a clear conscience knowing you kill more living organisms to eat then someone who eats meat.

There are documented cases of people saving animals, lot of them! However I guarantee you that if you are in the wild without protection any of those same animals will go for the kill if they think they can take you down without too much of a fight.

btw I figured I would address this. You assume I agree with the concept of zoos. I do not except for one purpose, the preservation of species. As the world goes through all of the changes it is right now, it is important to protect the overall integrity of the environment. That includes the animals and plants that make up the different backdrops of the world.

I have never heard of a dolphin killing a person, although I am sure you will correct me if I am wrong. There are actually very few animals that choose to eat humans, when an animal attacks a human it is usually territorial.

Also I did not say anything about "animals playing tricks", I was talking about a trick a dolphin can do by producing a bubble with their airhole and then playing with it (from a nature show actually). Like I said, its worth a view.

Perhaps we should chalk up calling to being territorial if that is in fact a justification for one animal killing another. They are invading waters we declare our territory (although if that were the case we would just have to kill everything and that would be very messy and unfortunate). There are hundreds of animals that will attack or eat a human if they think they can get an easy meal. Insects, arachnids, fish, birds, mammals...basically anything that isn't a herbivore will consider it.

I am not proposing we kill all the dolphins, but I am proposing there needs to be a little give on both sides. The Japanese aren't considering killing off the entire species, they are simply trying to eliminate a percentage of them from a very localized and controlled area.
