I think we're still raising kids? If you mean we had a better quality of life, yes we did. It's because we had a strong middle class, and unions were a big part of it. Even if you worked a non union job, your salary was higher because union pay scale raises the bar across the board. Stop listening to Glenn Beck and educate yourself.

@Astrelweeks unions are GREAT for companies....look what they did for CF!! And now for YRC!!!

In fact they have not only never lowered their dues, but while the union gets their dues, the employees at YRC took a 15% pay cut.

Gee- maybe people working at non-union really do benefit!! The union puts the union company out of business and so non-union companies can own the industry without pesky union companies around...  LOL (educate....yourself...LOL!!!)

PE kramme out of avondale PA has about 50 trucks and they are teamsters they do food grade. Other then that all i know is all LTL companies that are teamsters

Unions destroyed Detroit. They turned auto makers into health care and retirement companies and forced them to move their "Protected" jobs right over the border to Mexico and Canada. Unions only protect people who can't compete fairly.

Lets ask the real question, why at "one time" did America had the highest standard of living in the world...Unions!...ever since the founding of this country it "was" a Protectionist market. Meaning domestic product was priority over foreign hence more money for the unions because they needed domestic labor!! To say the teamsters speak for all truckers is to say that One wal-mart store speaks for wal-mart stores.I am a Trucker that is doing what's been said can't be done.I know that the teamsters like all unions are the best a company can buy that's paid for by the members of the teamsters union.
