This movie was filmed mostly in the Los Angeles, California area. Although the city in this film is never mentioned. It's because it's representing every city around the world in which sins occur on every street corner. Certain parts of down town L.A. are pretty rough though, as shown in the movie.
Yeah, i originally thought it was filmed in new york too. Read on wiki it was actually filmed in LA. I live in LA, and yes, parts of downtown do look like that. More towards 7th street. Prob. filmed around the fashion district.
