The first 2 seasons were a lot more depressing than the 3rd one, if you think about it. It was a vicious satyr about an entire CITY full of people with absolutely no redeeming values whatsoever. Season 3 actually had a lot of really good moments. Joe meeting his mother, Reverend Putty showing concern for his lesbian daughter... and Clay finally getting what he deserved. I loved Season 3, it made the characters so much deeper... and offered at least a little hope.

I'll admit, aside from a couple episodes I really didn't care for Moral Oral before the last season, but my God was the last season amazing. Depressing and funny at the same time, like that moment you realize everything has gone to hell, and there's nothing that you can do about it, but somehow... It's okay. That's the feeling I got for the last season of Moral Oral.

@terminaldeity you should check out the artist Elliott Smith's work (and his life story in general...he ended up stabbing himself to death...allegedly at least, the details of his death are a bit sketchy to be honest). A lot of his material was used in the film Good Will Hunting but pretty much his entire artistic output is some of the most gut wrenching, depressingly beautiful work.

That's the message the show is sending no matter what anyone does, they will have problems. The best thing we can do is find happiness anyway. Which they do. I find it incredibly uplifting and inspirational. Not depressing at all.

Im glad the final season gave us insight and fleshed out all the characters so they weren't just hollow representations of corruption. They all had a tragic past. Beautifully written episodes & perfect song

I just love how dark this show is, I always wondered what was so weird about the families around (not my own) growing up and this show puts a lot in perspective. love the song.

The first episode I really saw was Numb. It was raw and blunt, it was as close to perfect as you could get. After watching the other episodes, I realized that the show was perfect. Anyone who ever says that it was a rant against religion has it backwards: it was about hypocrites and how they ruin everything. Orel even tries to love his father for the sake of God, and comes out much better than if he had totally rejected him. But maybe it was too smart for some people.

This is a song I think everyone can enjoy despite its kind of depressing tone or even the lyrics. But this is the kind of music we don't get anymore, honesty. No painting a pretty picture or trying to make life seem like its all fun. Bad stuff happens more often in life then people generally would admit and tried to mask it with whatever. But like the episode you just got to be Numb sometimes and go on no matter how it ends good or bad. Its just too bad there isn't more music like this. Sigh.
