The chinese / korean coalition push the american korean coalition to the paralell, and in 1953 called for a state of constant stalemate. According the south korea - the war is over. According to North Korea, the war never ended. They have been duelling eachother with nothing but cold hard stares at one another through the paralell.
North Korea lost the war, but due to Chinese intervention managed to stave off a total defeat.
They did not accomplish their objective of conquering South Korea, which is why they lost the war, and the UN won. North Korea continued to exist, much under the same conditions as before, which is why it wasn't a total victory.
We could call it a minor victory for the UN, I guess.

Small detachment of PLA crossed the Yalu River in Oct 1950 & the main force of 250,000 moved in Nov.
the chinese took many more losses then what they like to admit because the chinese in the medieval ages used to believe in man power because they looked at the artillery and machine guns as over rated, and was not until the spring of 1952 that chinese soldiers relied heavily on artillery, vehicles and machine guns and air power.
